ViewsThe views surrounding the site include a large stretch of the canal that surrounds the city center of Bruges. Also evident are two large roadways, Sint-Pieterskaai (above the canal), Komvest (running directly through the general site-location area), and Route 30, which is directly next to Komvest. Although this would seem to be a negative element in the site-selection, there is a great deal of greenery and trees, which seem to hide these roads from view. The general views near the site are below.

Built FeaturesSurrounding built features include a large, forest-like piece of land. It is assumed that this park-like plot is not a historical or preserved vegetation area, as it is unnamed, unlike the rest of the parks in Bruges. Parking is available street-side, which allows less space to be devoted to a parking lot. The northern part of the city center) is in the process of redevelopment.

Sun Angle DiagramsBruges is located at 51°13'12" north latitude and 3°13'48" east longitude, providing for slightly less daylight than those in the United States are accustomed to. Bruges’ sun path diagram displays a visualization of the sun's path through the sky with the time of day and the corresponding sun angle. The general information gleaned from these two diagrams is that there are relatively low sun angles in Bruges, due to its latitude, and the sun rises from the northeast, and sets in the northwest.

Noise and WindAlthough the area is heavily wooded (and much sound will be absorbed by the trees), some noise may still emanate from the Komvest (highway). The large lake/canal feature will most likely bring breezes through the courtyard.
