Story Starters Objective: This activity allows students to work on typing a creative story. Materials: Computer for each student and word processing software. Procedure: Each student starts at his/her own computer and types their name on the top followed by the story starter. Give them about 5 minutes to type. If they finish typing the starter, they can begin adding to their story. After 5 minutes, have them save their work and move one computer to the right. Allow students about 5 minutes to read the story and add to it. Stress to the students that they should be creative but stay true to the subject matter. Repeat this procedure several times. Before the last student begins, warn them that they need to end the story. Story starters are attached if you would like to use them. You are certainly welcome to create your own to tie in with your curriculum. Copyright Lee’s Summit R7 School District
