Memorial Day is an American holiday, observed on the last Monday of May, honoring the men and women who died while serving in the U.S. military. Originally
known as Decoration Day, it originated in the years following the Civil War and became an official federal holiday in 1971. Many Americans observe Memorial Day by visiting cemeteries or memorials, holding family gatherings and participating in parades. Take time on Memorial Day and reflect on the men and women who died for the freedom we so value today. Also, please remember the families of these fallen sol-diers in your prayers.
The flowers that grace our altar today are given in loving memory of Andrew Sass and all other service members that
have paid the ultimate sacrifice.
The church office will be closed Monday in
observation of
Memorial Day.
WELCOME REVEREND NEAL COX! We are delighted to have the Reverend Neal Cox
with us today to preach in both morning services.
Dr. Cox is an ordained OFWB minister who has
pastored in our denomination for numerous
years. He is currently Chair of the Department of
Religion at the University of Mount Olive where he
earned his B.A. in Religion. He also earned his M.
Div. from Duke Divinity School and his D. Min. from Campbell Uni-
versity Divinity School. He is married to Andrea Cox and has two
children, Kaleb and Emma Cox. Dr. Cox taught at Stoney Creek
back in March during the Journeying Together Certificate Pro-
gram. His interest in academia are Ecclesiology, specifically koi-
nonia as essential to the nature of Church. Neal is also very interest-
ed in creation care and therefore is an avid gardener/farmer in his
spare time. Let's make Dr. Cox feel "at home" this Sunday morning
as he shares with us the message God has laid upon his heart.

The Deacon Nomination Process gives members an opportunity to be involved in the selection of Deacons and the selection of candidates to be part of the Deacon Training Course. Please be sure to pick up a packet of information, pray and follow the instructions in the packet in order to submit your selection of candidates to serve on the Current Board of Deacons and candidates to par-ticipate in the upcoming Deacon Training Course. Nomination Forms are due on or before Sunday, June 3rd. Please be very prayerful as you make your selections. If you need any help understanding or completing the pro-cess, please feel free to contact the office, our Current Board of Deacons or our Pastoral Staff.
Thank you for your important part in this process!
In our Quarterly Business Meeting this past Wednes-day night, our Finance Committee Chair reviewed the Third Quarter Financial Reports. After questions and comments, the motion to accept and approve the Financial Committee Report passed. The church ap-
proved three of our members for the University of Mount Olive Free Will Baptist Tuition Grant. This grant is offered by Mount Olive to students who are members of a Free Will Baptist Church, but our church must make an official recommendation to the University in order for a student to qualify. This grant is awarded annually.
