STEWART CO. BAPTIST ASSOCIATION! JANUARY-FEBRUARY-MARCH

Bear Spring: We are praising God for his many blessings in 2011 at Bear Spring Baptist Church. We gained many new additions to our church family and we would like to welcome them all. During the year our youth participated in many different activit ies. Some of them include bowling, swimming at Paris Landing, a family/youth night at church with pizza and games and a very successful VBS. We had 30 children sign up for our four day Beach Blast theme event. Our Homecoming in August was a great time of fellowship with good food and local music. Revival was spirit filled as Bro. Nathan Wilkerson brought God’s word to us. The annual fall festival in October has developed into a wonderful time of fellowship for us with over 100 people attending. We had an inflatable to go along with our many other games and activities. On November 19th we had a singing with special guest Fairview Quartet and in December we had our Holiday meal and Christmas play.We are thankful for all the blessings the Lord has given us in 2011 and we give Him the praise and Glory for it all.Looking ahead at the first quarter of 2012 our youth wi l l be going bowl ing in January, having a game night in February and a lock-in in March. Also throughout the year we will be praying for Bro. Greg Ernsberger as he continues his mission work in Ecuador. We are thankful for the community we live in and the blessings we have received. May god bless everyone in the new year.

Hurricane Creek: Greetings and Happy New Year from Hurricane Creek. Since our last writing, we have undertook an 8 week

study in Dr. Gregory Frizzell’s “Returning to Holiness.” This study helped to prepare our hearts and minds for revival and friends, we experienced revival! It was conducted by Bro. Phillip Chambers and we can truly say that the Spirit came down. Not only did He anoint Bro. Chambers but He filled the house with His presence. We can, without reservation, recommend Bro. Phillip for your next revival service. We had 5 professions of faith and 3 baptisms as a result. Praise God that He still moves among His people. Hurricane Creek has also been blessed with 5 new additions to our church family in the last quarter of this year. We delivered Thanksgiving baskets to various families in the community. We also honored our widows and widowers by treating them to a Christmas dinner at Paris Landing State Park. The food was great and the fellowship was sweet. Never forget to honor our older saints. Our WMU ladies are still very active in their Angels on Duty ministry. With the meal that was delivered for December, we sent along a Christmas goodie bag full of candies and cookies. On December 18th our youth presented a Christmas play for the church and they did a wonderful job. We have so many talented young people in our church and we thank God for each one of them. Don’t be surprised if you see a few of them on the big screen in the years to come. We have just started another study of Dr. Gregory Frizzell’s on Wednesday nights, “How to Develop a Powerful Prayer Life”. We are not only working on growing the church but we are working on driving the roots deeper. James 4:8 reminds us, “Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you.” HCBC is concentrating on drawing nigh. We want to

experience the hand and the power of God Almighty in the coming year in a way that we never have. May God bless each and every sister church in our association, each of their pastors and all of our brothers and sisters in Christ. And when it looks as things are about to get rocky, or a storm is blowing in off the horizon, draw nigh to God. God Bless everyone and just remember, keep looking up!

Mt. Sinai: “We have been in our new auditorium since Oct. 2011. It is truly a blessing! Thanks goes out to all the adults & young people who participated in our Christmas Program. New Year Eve we will have a service with singing and preaching. We are in the process of planning for 2012. We hope to make a difference for Christ in our homes & community. Pray for us as we continue working for the Lord in this coming year.” We wish all our sister churches “A Wonderful Year In the Service of the Lord”.

Walnut Grove: In October several youth & adults enjoyed a wiener roast and hayride. November 20th we ha an Old-Timers day with a delicious Thanksgiving dinner, with a great time of fellowship with a large attendance. December was very busy with activities for the holidays. December 10th our church Christmas party was held at the church with a lot of fun, games and plenty of good food with a great attendance. December 14th we had a men’s chili cook off and a ladies back off. We prepared fruit baskets afterwards. December 18th the youth with several adults enjoyed a fun afternoon in Murray bowling.

From the Missionary One of the critical issues facing the church

today is how to establish a vital relationship with new converts which leads them into a lifestyle of walking with Christ daily. What is important is

not how many people you baptize, but rather how many disciples result from your evangelistic efforts. As a close observer of church life, I have noticed

that a vast number of people who make decisions in our churches do not continue to grow and mature in the faith. In fact, many become dropouts or else remain in the church with their carnal attitudes. Truthfully, we are doing a very poor job of faithfully following the command of Christ to make disciples. More is required from us than just a pat on the back and a hand of friendship.

The  one  mandate  Jesus  gave  to  the  church  was:    “Go  and  Make  Disciples  of  All  Nations.”    How  well  are  you  practicing  this command in your church? What are you doing to lead people to experience the fullness of living as a disciple of Christ? While a few of our churches offer new member orientation, very few are growing disciples for the Kingdom of God. Currently, our approach is to hope that new members will find a Christian friend, grow in Christ and become  faithful  to  the  Lord’s  work.

The biblical pattern is to develop new Christians into mature disciples who will meet Him regularly, walk with Him daily, and seize evangelistic opportunities as they present themselves. Christ set the example of how to spend quality time with believers to develop them as Kingdom Citizens.

I am excited because across this world people are being energized for Christ as they learn how to experience the life of discipleship. In fact, there are discipleship movements among  God’s  people  resulting  in  new  experiences  of  maturity  and evangelistic fervor.

Soon you will have the opportunity to learn how to:

1. Do one-to-one personal discipleship training of new believers.

2. To give individual care and nurture to new Christians teaching them how to have a personal quiet time, read scripture, memorize scripture, pray regularly and share their faith.

3. Use  specially  designed  materials  to  lead  “new  borns”  into a deeper understanding of Christ.

4. Equip the saints, disciple new Christians, and close the back door of the church.

Develop new believers to share their faith in natural relationships. The greatest untapped resource of evangelism

Dennis Pulley

today is new Christians. If we can lead our people to experience Christ as Lord, we could reach the world in one generation. I am not talking about a program, but rather an EXPERIENCE which is biblically sound, Christ Centered, and intentional in giving new converts the personal care and biblical instruction they need.

My prayer is that God will raise up 6-10 churches in our association who will take the lead in seriously seeking to make disciples according to the design and instruction of our Lord. I am convinced that this effort will begin a spiritual awakening and a God sent revival in our area.

Think  about  it,  pray  about  it  and  take  the  risk  for  God’s  sake.
