We are ONE! In the year that has gone by, wehave taken our children from the CommunityChildren Centre to Port Dickson, brought more tothe Zoo with the Rotaract Club and acceptedmore homes (Ozanam, Juara, Harvest, Sunbeamand Budimas) into our programme. New classeswere introduced, in the area of Drama andCreative Writing as well as receiving sponsorship

from Dutch Lady! Our new teachers, Jan,Jessica, Andrew, Tony and Jeremy, moved intothe rhythm of things to get the childrenʼs talentrecognised. We hope to give the children everypossible experience that their circumstanceshave eluded them thus far. Any support that youwish to offer us to help them would be greatlyappreciated!

The year thatʼs passed had truly been eventful withyour partnership and with this anniversary issue, we

want to thank you for your patronage and support forthe programme! It is indeed a great privilege to takeon the task of producing this newsletter to bring youpieces of good news woven together by individualswho care to make a difference in the lives of the not-so-fortunate. You have made it possible with yourcontribution, your investment of time to realisesomething that has never been done this way before.In my other profession as a dive instructor, I haveencountered many individuals who have money but notime, have time but not much money, have money and

have lots of time. When I told them of this effort, a fewof them said, “I want to sponsor a child! How???” Andsoon, this gave rise to the need of having regularupdates to highlight each child in our programme! Wehope that this effort will be supported by people likeyou in forwarding the whole e-newsletter on.

We are grateful that you are reading this and weappreciate any assistance we can get The kids got toexperience the thrill of being in fast cars, the hardcore

poor in Kapar gets to learn to dance and the Myanmarkids get to learn music! Though each effort has itschallenges, we believe it taught us more than what wewere teaching the kids! What better way of giving canyou think of if not for the giving of your time, effort anda little money? Iʼm sowing into their future, would youlike to join me too?

I like drums! But I like piano too! No,I want to play with drums! I want to learn how to hit the drums!

Little Alvin Gan is 8 years old. Hehas been in Rumah Juara since hewas 4.

Rinisha Thevaroobin, 9 years old,has been in Rumah Juara since shewas 4 years old. She loves dramaclasses.

Catching the kids at rest was a raremoment to contest their attention with theshowing of a dance video at the recreationroom. The editor tried to find out whatmade them tick in an academy thatfocuses on developing their creative skills.
