BRYAN BERG

This year we turned 3 and as part of our celebrations we hosted world-renowned card stacker Bryan Berg who built a replica of our casino with a giant 3 above it. The 63, 000 card structure took him ten days of meticulous craftsmanship and the result was simply breathtaking.

Bryan holds the Guinness World Record for both the tallest and the largest structures built from freestanding playing cards, using more than 1100 and 3000 decks respectively. Using no glue, no tape and no scissors Bryan truly is a master of his art.

SOCCER STARSIn 2010 we kicked off our Silverstar Soccer Stars Tournament for young soccer players in the West Rand. This year’s season began on 12 March at Lusaka Sports Complex for the 54 teams from Kagiso, Munsieville and Swaneville.

Getting involved is important to us. We believe that investing in our surrounding communities opens doors for the local children and will give them a brighter future.

Full soccer kits were provided in the form of Dream Bags to inspire and motivate the players. We feel having a kit provides a sense of belonging and commitment for the children.

The success has been incredible and our U13 and U17 are now playing in the Rand Central League and we couldn’t be prouder!

After the kick-off on 12 March 2011 the Silverstar Soccer Stars have been participating in weekly soccer matches. These take place on Wednesday afternoons in all three communities to accommodate all three age groups. These league matches will culminate at the season closing tournament in June 2011.

We’re very proud of our teams and we wish them the best of luck for the season!
