SUBJECT and PREDICATE

Each sentence is made up of two parts ---- The Subject and the Predicate

The Subject of a sentence tells who or what the sentence is about. It can include

adjectives.

The Predicate of a sentence tells what the subject ' is' or 'does'.

For example.

1. My family went to the zoo.

In this sentence-

My family — is the subject

went to the zoo — is the predicate.

2.The teacher gave homework to her students.

In this sentence ---

The teacher -------- is the subject

gave homework to her students------- is the predicate.

Subject Predicate

Topic - UP IN THE SKY

What do we see when we look at the sky???

We see the Sun, the Moon and the Stars in the sky. So, the Sun ,the Moon,the Stars and

the eight planets are called heavenly bodies. All these planets move around the sun and

form the Solar System.

The Sun-

- The Sun is a yellow dwarf star positioned in the Center of our solar system.

- it is the nearest star to the planet Earth.

- It is a huge ball of hot gases and many times bigger than the Earth.

- It gives us heat, light and energy.

The Moon-

- The Moon is the Earth's natural satellite.

- it is much closer to the Earth than the Sun.

- it doesn't have its own light and reflects the light of the Sun.

- There is no air or life on the Moon.

- The big holes on the Moon 's surface are known as craters.

The Stars-

- The stars are big balls of gases.

- They have their own light and heat.

- Some stars form patterns in the sky and such patterns are called constellation .
