GOSPEL MEDITATION Emails. Carpools. Shopping lists. Home repairs. It can seem like we move so quickly from one thing to the next. Our news comes in sound bites and headlines. How often do we take time for silence, for prayer, for reflection, for wisdom? Jesus warns us of stumbling through life without an adequate sense of where weʹre going. ʺCan a blind person guide a blind person? Will not both fall into a pit?ʺ This Sundayʹs Gospel isnʹt about fumbling along but offers a self-check on our own motivations. ʺWhy do you notice the splinter in your brotherʹs eye, but do not perceive the wooden beam in your own?ʺ Without adequate self-reflection, itʹs easy to become blind to our own faults. We go through lifeʹs motions as our bad habits linger or even increase. We may become increasingly impatient, we may avoid important tasks, we may neglect the emotional needs of our spouse. Perhaps, in the process, we find fault with those around us. In the words of Jesus, ʺremove the wooden beam from your own eye first.ʺ So how do we know? How can we notice the hidden faults in our lives? ʺA good tree does not bear rotten fruit, nor does a rotten tree bear good fruit. For every tree is known by its own fruit. A good person out of the store of goodness in his heart produces good, but an evil person out of store of evil produces evil.ʺ Do you notice certain relationships that have become strained, or situations where you know you donʹt act your best? Perhaps this is an area where you are acting out of sin, rather than virtue. The truth is, all of us are a mixture of light and dark, vice and virtue. We canʹt pretend weʹre perfect! But we also need to take time to pause and prayerfully examine the fruit weʹre bearing. Article provided by LPI.

Lenten Regulations
Abstinence from meats is to be observed by all Catholics 14 years and older on Ash Wednesday and all the Fridays of Lent.
Fasting is to be observed on Ash Wednesday by all Catholics who are 18 years of age but not yet 59.
Those who are bound by this may take only one full meal. Two smaller meals are permitted if necessary to maintain strength according to one’s needs,
but eating solid foods between meals in not permitted. The special Paschal fast and abstinence are prescribed for Good Friday
and encouraged for Holy Saturday. By the threefold discipline of fasting, almsgiving and prayer, the Church keeps Lent from Ash Wednesday until the evening of Holy Thursday. All of the faithful and the catechumens should undertake serious practice of these three traditions. Failure to observe penitential days totally or a substantial number of days must be considered serious. Stations of the Cross ------------------------- Fridays at 7:00pm Polish School Stations of the Cross ------- Saturdays at 12:30pm also: “Stations through the eyes of Mary” ---- Friday, April 5 – 7:00pm “Living Stations of the Cross” ------------ Friday, April 12 – 2:00 & 7:00pm
[If there are any errors in the information above, please communicate a.s.a.p. Thank You.] One Option for Lenten Almsgiving:
Catholic Relief Services’ Rice Bowl banks This is only one option for our Lenten almsgiving. Everyone can make their own choice.
The “rice bowl banks” are available in the vestibule and at the side doors. This Sunday: ANNUAL CATHOLIC APPEAL “Follow-up Sunday” Thank You Very Much to all who participated in last weekend’s Commitment Sun-day. Annual Catholic Appeal brochures & pledge envelopes are still available. If you will be writing a check, please make it out to Annual Catholic Appeal (not St. Thecla).
This Sunday, March 3 – 3:00pm: Sacrament of Confirmation Mass with Bishop Bartosic
[This Mass will be the Sunday Mass and will fulfill our obligation.]
Please remember: The Bishop will not be able to stay after Mass for the reception.
For those who’d like a photo with the Bishop, please be in the Queen of Peace room by 1:45pm.
(There will be a reception after the Mass.) Next weekend – March 9 & 10: “Re-Commissioning” At all 3 Masses, our Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion and our Ministers of Care will be “re-commissioned”. All Parishes do this every 3 years (usually on the 1st Sunday of Advent). Thank You Very Much to all of our liturgical ministers! Thanks to Deacon Steve Wagner who is coordinating this “re-commissioning”.
P.S. “Communion Ministers” and Ministers of Care may also distribute ashes. 1 week from this Tuesday – March 12: Sacrament of Confirmation
with Bishop Wypych for the Polish School Lenten Mission with St. Cornelius and St. Tarcissus Parishes: March 31 – April 2 This Lenten Mission will be at St. Cornelius, and each Parish will take a turn providing the light dinner (6:00pm) and the liturgical duties (greeters/ushers, readers, etc.). Our evening-to-host will be Tuesday, April 2nd. More details forthcoming. You can go to www.Friarjp.com to learn more about the Mission and the Mission preacher, Father Johnpaul Cafiero, OFM.
P.S. We will probably have the “light dinner” delivered so we can enjoy it too. Vicariate “Listening Session” – Monday, March 18 – St. John Brebeuf – 7:00pm If anyone, who attended our “Listening Sessions” here, would like to be one of the five of our St. Thecla parishioners to attend the Vicariate “Listening Session”, please contact Fr. Greg by next Sunday, March 10. (Then, I can give you a copy of the notes from our session.)
Renew My Church (RMC) – Update #5 Information about RMC has been in our Sunday bulletins since the first Sunday of Febru-ary. Please continue to keep up-to-date. (Past bulletins can be read on our Parish web-site. Also, some “paper copies” are available.) On this past Wednesday afternoon, there was an orientation meeting for the Staff of all the Parishes in Vicariate II who are being “activated” in 2019. Because our bulletin must be sent to the printer before then, a summary of that meeting will be in next Sunday’s bulletin. Only general information and maybe the schedule of future meetings will be communicated. If you have not yet done so, I encourage you to go to RenewMyChurch.org to learn more about the “whys” and “hows” of this important planning process.

ST. THECLA SCHOOL The Second Graders had a super fun and educational day celebrating the 100th Day of School. The students got to show off their creative T-Shirts during a fashion show that showed their 100 items. They also got to build their own snack goodie bag of 100 items that they had to count out. The stu-dents were able to build with 100 cups and used 100 cubes to measure and count how tall they were. They also had fun writing about what they would spend their 100 dollars on! Second Grade is 100 (and then some) days smarter! Ms. Sara Due— 2nd Grade Teacher
