The Order of Mass—The Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ
Sign of the Cross and Greeting
Penitential Act
Gloria—(right)
(Readings begin on p. 176)
Responsorial Psalm: Ps. 110 “You are a priest forever, in the line of Melchizedek.”
Procession: Alleluia! Sing to Jesus
1. Alleluia! sing to Jesus!
His the scepter, his the throne;
Alleluia! his the triumph,
His the victory alone;
Hark! the songs of peaceful Zion
Thunder like a mighty flood;
Jesus out of evʹry nation
Has redeemed us by his blood.
2. Alleluia! not as orphans
Are we left in sorrow now;
Alleluia! he is near us,
Faith believes, nor questions how:
Though the cloud from sight received him,
When the forty days were oʹer,
Shall our hearts forget his promise,
ʹI am with you evermoreʹ?
3. Alleluia! Bread of Angels,
Here on earth our food, our stay!
Alleluia! here the sinful
Flee to you from day to day:
Intercessor, friend of sinners,
Earthʹs redeemer, plead for me,
Where the songs of all the sinless
Sweep across the crystal sea.
4. Alleluia! King eternal,
You the Lord of lords we own;
Alleluia! born of Mary,
Earth your footstool, heavʹn your throne:
You, within the veil, have entered,
Robed in flesh, our great high priest;
Here on earth both priest and victim
In the Eucharistic feast.

The Nicene Creed
I believe in one God,
the Father almighty,
maker of heaven and earth,
of all things visible and invisible.
I believe in one Lord Jesus Christ,
the Only Begotten Son of God,
born of the Father before all ages.
God from God, Light from Light,
true God from true God,
begotten, not made, consubstantial with
the Father;
through him all things were made.
For us men and for our salvation
he came down from heaven,
[All bow, at the following text ]
and by the Holy Spirit was incarnate of
the Virgin Mary, and became man.
For our sake he was crucified under
Pontius Pilate,
he suffered death and was buried,
and rose again on the third day
in accordance with the Scriptures.
He ascended into heaven
and is seated at the right hand of the
Father.
He will come again in glory
to judge the living and the dead
and his kingdom will have no end.
I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord,
the giver of life, who proceeds from the
Father and the Son,
who with the Father and the Son is
adored and glorified,
who has spoken through the prophets.
I believe in one, holy, catholic and
apostolic Church.
I confess one Baptism for the
forgiveness of sins and I look forward
to the resurrection of the dead and the
life of the world to come. Amen.

1. Jesus, my Lord, my God, my All,
How can I love thee as I ought?
And how revere this wondrous gift,
So far surpassing hope or thought?
Sweet Sacrament, we thee adore!
O make us love thee more and more!
O make us love thee more and more.
2. Had I but Maryʹs sinless heart,
To love thee with, my dearest King;
O! with what bursts of fervent praise,
Thy goodness, Jesus would I sing.
Sweet Sacrament, we thee adore!
O make us love thee more and more!
O make us love thee more and more.
3. O! see upon the altar placed
The victim of divinest love!
Let all the earth below adore,
And join the choirs of heavʹn above.
Sweet Sacrament, we thee adore!
O make us love thee more and more!
O make us love thee more and more. Text: St. 1‐2, Frederick W. Faber, 1814‐1863; st. 3, Mediator Dei Hymnal, 1955, 1955, GIA Publications, Inc.

but only say the word, and my soul shall be healed.
Antiphon (Ps. 85: 9‐14)
R/. “ Lord, let us see your kindness, and grant us your salvation.”
1. Praise to the Lord, the Almighty, the king of creation!
O my soul, praise him, for he is your health and salvation!
Come, all who hear:
Brothers and sisters, draw near,
Praise him in glad adoration!
2. Praise to the Lord, above all things so mightily reigning;
Keeping us safe at his side, and so gently sustaining.
Have you not seen
All you have needed has been
Met by his gracious ordaining?

Surely his goodness and mercy shall daily attend us.

From the Catechism of the Catholic Church
Purification of the Heart
2518: The sixth beatitude proclaims, ʺBlessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God.ʺ (Mt 5:8) ʺPure in
heartʺ refers to those who have attuned their intellects and wills to the demands of Godʹs holiness, chiefly in
three areas: charity; (Cf. 1 Tim 4:3‐9; 2 Tim 2:22) chastity or sexual rectitude; (Cf. 1 Thess 4:7; Col 3:5; Eph 4:19)
love of truth and orthodoxy of faith. (Cf. Titus 1:15; 1 Tim 1:3‐4; 2 Tim 2:23‐26) There is a connection between
purity of heart, of body, and of faith: The faithful must believe the articles of the Creed ʺso that by believing
they may obey God, by obeying may live well, by living well may purify their hearts, and with pure hearts
may understand what they believe.ʺ (St. Augustine)
2519: The ʺpure in heartʺ are promised that they will see God face to face and be like him. (Cf. 1 Cor 13:12; 1 Jn
3:2) Purity of heart is the precondition of the vision of God. Even now it enables us to see according to God,
to accept others as ʺneighborsʺ; it lets us perceive the human body ‐ ours and our neighborʹs ‐ as a temple of
the Holy Spirit, a manifestation of divine beauty.
Jubilee Year of Mercy May 29, 2016
Solemnity of the Most Holy Body
and Blood of Christ (Corpus Christi)
In this Jubilee Year of Mercy, the Lectionary’s Year
of Luke presents a Gospel in which Jesus, who has
welcomed, taught, healed, and shown God’s mercy
to the multitude, refuses the Twelve’s demand to
dismiss the crowd before him. Instead, he says,
“Give them some food yourselves” (Luke 9:13). In
Jesus’ hands, what little the Twelve has feeds five
thousand (“men,” and probably as many women
and children), leaving twelve baskets so the Twelve
can continue Jesus’ ministry of mercy. Pope Francis
has asked how we celebrate and live the Eucharist.
Do we keep it to ourselves? Or do we “commune”
not only with Jesus but with the multitude whom
Jesus has given us to cherish? Entrusted to Jesus and
shared with others, our limited resources can go a
long way. Recognizing Jesus in the Eucharist
demands that we recognize Jesus also in the hungry
crowd. Adoring Jesus present in the Eucharist
requires that we serve Jesus present in our neighbor. —Peter Scagnelli, Copyright © J. S. Paluch Co., Inc.

The Neighborhood Block Party Needs Your Help!
We need over 100 volunteers for this event to be a success! Please consider volunteering in one of the
following areas: Kids Games, Ticket Sales, First Aid, Beer Tent, Concessions, Security, Trash Detail,
setting up the evening of June 10th, and clean up afterward.
The success of this fundraising event requires the participation of school families and parishioners. We are
short of space in today’s bulletin to include a volunteer form; kindly contact Sharon Keane at 773‐499‐1507.
All volunteers are required to purchase a wristband upon arrival. Unfortunately we are unable to waive
the entry fee for volunteers because we need well over 100 people to make this event run smoothly.
Thank you for your understanding!
A message from the Finance Council:
With the end of the fiscal year almost upon us, the Sunday weekly collections continue to fall well short of
the budget that we established. Also concerning is that ‐ in total, our collections are running lower than
last fiscal year. Will you help us narrow this budget gap?
We need to maintain the momentum of the great financial progress we made in recent years. Have you
missed a donation that you can catch up on? Are you able to increase your Sunday contribution this year if
you haven’t done so already? Thank you for giving this your consideration.
We are thankful for your continued generosity and we appreciate your active support for this gift of our
parish!
A prayer for “Renew My Church”
Lord Jesus, you speak to us today, as you spoke to
holy men and women who have gone before us. In
every age and in our own time, you call to us and
say:
Renew My Church.
Pour out the gift of your Holy Spirit upon us,
and so enable us
to hear you clearly
to listen to each other attentively
to imagine our future boldly
to discern your direction wisely
to persevere in your holy will courageously
to stay together in charity
to surrender our own plans readily
to embrace the greater good
to hand on your gifts to future generations.
May we remain in the holy company of the Blessed
Virgin Mary, the apostles, and all the saints. May
their example and presence inspire us with patient
confidence in the work of your grace.
We ask this of you who live and reign with the
Father in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God,
forever and ever. Amen

Renew My Church—7 Priorities for Parish Vitality 1) We bring people to Christ: The parish strives to evangelize its members to live more fully as
intentional disciples. In turn, the parish’s intentional disciples are continuously evangelizing
others by making known the presence of the Church and Christ’s mercy in the midst of the
community.
2) We support each other in knowing Christ more deeply: The parish enables a lifelong process of
formation for deepening one’s faith and relationship with Christ by passing on the church’s
teaching and Tradition to parishioners of all ages.
3) We encounter Christ and receive nourishment through prayer and worship: The parish is
intentional in developing a culture and tradition of prayer, devotion, and well‐prepared liturgy, with
the Eucharist as the “Source and the Summit.”
4) We build bonds among each other to sustain our life in Christ: The parish represents a genuine
Catholic community that is conscious of its solidarity in Christ with the entire church of Chicago and
the Universal Church. It is inclusive and harmonious, respecting and appreciating diversity in all its
forms as an asset in worship and community life.
5) We transform the lives of others through service as Christ’s missionary disciples: The parish
prepares and sends parishioners as missionary disciples into the world to transform society with the
joy and truth of the Gospel. The parish is a beacon of faith and an advocate for justice and peace,
reaching out in love to all who are in need, on the margin of society, or who live in fear and loneliness.
6) We respond to the call to holiness by journeying together with Christ: The parish accompanies the
baptized on life’s journey to become more Christ centered, resistant to sin, merciful, continually
attentive to building a mature, well‐integrated adult spirituality, and committed to charity, peace,
prayer, and virtue.
7) We take responsibility for administration and leadership of the parish as good stewards of the gifts
Christ has entrusted to us: The parish thrives under the visionary leadership of the pastor, who works
in collaboration with his associates, staff, and the laity to ensure that the parish’s mission can fully
flourish as a result of proper administration. The parish fosters a culture of stewardship and a
spirituality of gratitude that inspires parishioners to generously share the gifts Christ has entrusted to
them in support of the mission of the church through the parish, the archdiocese and in the world.

Finanse Parafii
Zwracamy, siê z proºbà do parafian o pomoc w wype³nieniu tegorocznej luki budýetowej. W ubieg³ym roku Niedzielne sk³adki by³y nieco wyýsze. Zbliýamy siê do koñca naszego roku budýe-towego i nasz budýet tegoroczny w stosunku do roku ubieg³ego jest niýszy. Bardzo prosimy o pomoc i wyrozumia³oºæ w tej kwestii.
Jesteºmy wdziêczni za kaýdà nawet najmniejszà ofiarê. Dziekujemy za wspieranie parafii ªw. Tekli, która jest naszym eucharystycznym domem.
Serdeczne Bóg Zap³aæ!
