Headteacher: Mrs Rachel Kershaw Week ending: Friday 6 th March 2020 St. Margaret’s CE Primary School ‘Grace, Strength, Love’ Philippians 4:13 I can do all this through Him who gives me strength Dear Parents and Carers, Another jam packed brilliant week in school this week that the children have enjoyed! We had lovely feedback from the maths mastery teachers we hosted on Wednesday in lessons, to thank us for showing them our mastery approach, and for our children carrying on regardless, particularly in Y1 when about 8 extra adults were in the class observing Mr Clark and the children’s maths learning. many of you come and read to your children and groups of children at the end of the day! I did say to the children they could choose anywhere in the school they wanted to read, and it was wonderful to host the Bootlands in my office, who reminded me I had said anywhere!! You can find lots of information about the ‘Share a Million Stories’ campaign on the following link: https://www.worldbookday.com/share-a-million-stories/ Keep on reading and sharing those stories all! Wishing you all a lovely weekend, Rachel Kershaw, Headteacher Thank you to everyone for your contributions to mufti day last Friday. We raised £130.80 in total. The class with the highest percentage of contributions were Y1, so well done to them! Upcoming PTA events: Wednesday 11 th March @ 3.30pm – School disco (details sent separately) Wednesday 18 th & Thursday 19 th March @ lunchtime – Mother’s day gifts for sale Friday 27 th March – Mufti Day Thursday 2 nd April all day – Sponsored bunny bounce A reminder to all parents that you can use the fab website https://www.commonsensemedia.o rg/ to look at the games /apps that your children are accessing, to ensure you are fully informed about their content and any potential dangers. Ofsted tend to inspect schools about once every 4 years, and the Church of England Education Office inspect C of E schools approximately every 5 years, so the chances of both of them falling within a few days of each other are very rare! However, we were notified this week that we will have a Statutory Inspection of Anglican and Methodist Schools (SIAMS) under Section 48 of the Education Act 2005, that will take place all day on Tuesday 10 th March 2020. The inspection focusses on the impact of the Church school's Christian vision on pupils and adults. I’m sure the inspector would love to hear all the wonderful things about our school from parents on the gate on Tuesday morning, so please do reiterate some of the fabulous comments I was told parents had written to Ofsted last week, as they were an absolute joy to hear! The staff are bringing out their inner ‘Tortoise’ learning friend this week that’s for sure, and they just keep on working relentlessy hard all the time! We celebrated a great World Book Day on Thursday. It actually worked out brilliantly being nice and cosy all day in onesies and PJ’s hiding with books, from what seems to be relentless rain at present! The children undertook lots of shared reading within class, with other classes, including Y5 and Y6 enjoying a ‘reading cafe’. It was lovely to see so Another inspection next week…… News from the PTA…..
