Mary, in a unique way, willingly suffered alongside her Divine Son as he gave his life to
save the world, and she felt the bitterness of his passion as only a mother can. This devotion is especially remembered during September, the Month of Our Lady of Sorrows (the feast of Our
Lady of Sorrows is September 15th).
The devotion consists in praying seven Hail
Mary’s while meditating on the Seven Sorrows of
Mary.
The Seven Sorrows of Mary
1. The Prophecy of Simeon (Luke 2:34-35)
2. The Flight into Egypt (Matthew 2:13-21) 3. The Loss of Jesus for Three Days (Luke 2:41-50)
4. The Carrying of the Cross (John 19:17)
5. The Crucifixion of Jesus (John 19:18-30)
6. Jesus Taken Down from the Cross (John 19:39-40)
7. Jesus Laid in the Tomb (John 19:39-42)

Grateful for God’s Providence Capital Campaign
Prayer for Grateful for God’s Providence Campaign
Almighty God, your Son Jesus called us to form a Church that is one, holy, catholic and apostolic,
and your Holy Spirit guides us on our way. Ever grateful for your providence in our lives, we ask
your blessing upon our campaign and upon all the work we do for your Church. Give us a joyful
spirit, a confident outlook, and a renewed zeal as we live and share the joy of the Gospel. Help us to
remember that without you, we can do nothing, but that with you, all things are possible. This we
ask through Christ our Lord.

September 15, 2019
Our parish life is certainly not boring these days! Our
prayer intentions keep us grounded in the realities of the here
and now on Pawtucket Avenue. My personal prayer
intentions are for Ron and his healing. It goes without saying
that we certainly miss his pastoral musical ministry and
presence. Parish and school staffs have been most supportive,
and I am most grateful.
Through parish networking, I have been fortunate to
meet and to engage Jeff Allard, a talented music teacher from
LaSalle Academy, to play and lead us in music at the
Saturday, 5 PM Mass. Steve Romano will fill in at the Sunday
8 AM. Ron (“in the box”) will still be with us at the 10:30!
Identifying an available liturgical musician is much more
difficult and stressful than getting a weekend supply priest!
In light of the above, as we enjoy these wonderful late
summer days, I always think back to that fateful Tuesday,
September 11. Our world changed that day. Nearly 3000 died
in those four airplane crashes: so many families, friends,
colleagues lives were changed forever. Thousands more were
injured or would suffer unseen emotional wounds or physical
illnesses resulting from inhaling the toxic dust and ash that
covered everything. I accompanied our late Bishop Mulvee to
a week of memorial prayer services. The one at the State
House was eerie; so quiet without any aircraft overhead. As
the new parish sign read this week, “Never forget.” One of
my present meditations arising from those past memories or
our present challenges is from St. Theresa of Avila, the
founder of the Carmelite Nuns. She wrote: “Let nothing
Disturb you, Let nothing frighten you. Though all things pass,
God does not change. Patience wins all things. But he lacks
nothing who possesses God; for God alone suffices”. Enough
said!
Finally, though perhaps at times we feel lost, in Christ we
are found. Therefore, there is always cause to hope and be
Grateful for God’s Providence.
With thanks and praise,
~Monsignor Darcy
