When Jesus saw his mother and the disciple there whom he loved, he said to his mother, “Woman, behold, your son.” Then he said to the disciple, “Behold, your mother.” And from that hour the disciple took her into his home. John 19 26-27

Donations Needed for Steubenville Retreat This summer, we will be bringing a group of nine (9) teen-
agers to the The Life Teen Steubenville East Youth Confer-
ence/Retreat offered by Franciscan University of Steuben-
ville! The cost of the trip is $275 per student. As you can
imagine, this cost is out of reach for many families. We will
be accepting donations in any amount to help defray the
cost of the retreat during the next few weeks. If you would
like to donate, please bring your donation to Mass on June
30/July 1 or mail it to the rectory at 149 Chestnut Street,
Clinton, MA. If you would like to make out a check, please
be sure to reference the Steubenville Retreat on the subject
line. Checks may be made payable to: St. John the Guardian
of Our Lady.
Dear Friends, Respect the life of the new born and those with terminal illnesses. At a recent meeting of St. John Paul II Foundation, attended by our Bishop, Priests and Seminarians, we received talks and written literature by Moral Theologi-ans, our popes and Bishop McManus. For the last two bulletins we received the writings of Pope Francis. This week and next we reflect on the words of Pope Benedict XVI. This fall in Massachusetts we will be faced with a question regarding our call to protect the life of a criti-cally ill person. “ The Eucharist…compels all who be-lieve in him to become ‘bread that is broken’ for others” [Sacramentum Caritatis, no 88], he writes that “it is specifically from the Eucharist that pastoral care in health must draw the nec-essary spiritual strength to come effectively to man’s aid and to help him to understand the salvific value of his own suffering” (Message for the Sixteenth World Day of the Sick, January 11, 2008. “We can try to limit suffering, to fight against it, but we cannot eliminate it. It is when we attempt to avoid suffering by with-drawing from anything that might involve hurt, when we try to spare ourselves the effort and pain of pursuing truth, love, and goodness, that we drift into a life of emptiness, in which there may be almost no pain, but the dark sensation of meaninglessness and abandonment is all the greater. It is not by sidestepping or fleeing from suffering that we are healed, but rather by our capacity for accepting it, maturing through it and finding meaning through union with Christ, who suffered with infinite love” (Spe salvi, no. 37). ~ Pope Benedict XVI

The CARE Food Pantry has been selected AGAIN to be a part
of the Hannaford Helps Reusable Bag Program!
We really appreciate all the support we received during our last
round. Thank you! We are so happy to know we can count on
you to go out and buy a few more of the Fight Hunger bags dur-
ing the month of July at the Hannaford store located in Clinton.
Don’t forget, they only cost $2.50 and we get $1.00 for every bag
purchased!
Thank you so much for your continued support of the food pantry.
Every Second Sunday of the
Month is designated as Food
Pantry Sunday. It is a special
Sunday when we ask families
to bring non-perishable foods
to church. If you cannot do it
on a particular Sunday, Food Care Donation Boxes are left
at entrances to the Parish. Our most needed items are: Pea-
nut Butter, Canned Fruit, Spaghetti & Spaghetti Sauce.
Thank you for your help, your donations make it possible
for us to serve the less fortunate in our community.

10 GOOD REASONS TO BECOME A CATECHIST: You will grow in your own faith, learn the teachings of the Church, and deepen your relationship with Jesus. Your Baptism calls you to share in Jesus' ministry. Children, teens, and adults in today's world, more than ever, need to hear the Good News of Jesus. Children, teens, and adults in today's world, more than ever, need to encounter good role models of faith. You have much to share with those you'll teach, and you'll have opportunities to share faith with other catechists. Today's catechetical textbooks/resources offer out-standing support. You'll be challenged, you'll have fun, and you'll make new friends. You'll be helping people deepen their relationship with Jesus (You'll be evangelizing!) You'll be handing on a 2,000-year-old Tradition that changes lives. It's our job: Jesus sent us to "go and teach all nations." Won't you answer the call? We are looking for catechists for Grades 1 - 10.
My Priesthood is your Priesthood because you made it possible… I am most grateful for the outpouring of support and kindness on the occasion of my ordination and first Mass at Saint John the Guardian of Our Lady. I wish to extend my sincere thanks to all who were able to join me at the ordination, first Mass and reception, as well
as the support and prayers of many others. Please be assured of my prayers for you and your families, and I ask for your prayers, as we journey together in the Catholic faith, together with the prayers of Mary, our Mother, and all the angels and saints. God bless you always. ~ Fr.

14th Sunday in Ordinary Time “As the Lord spoke to me, the spirit entered me and set me on my feet, and I heard the one who was speaking say to me, ‘Son of man, I am send-ing you…’” (EZEKIEL 2:2-3) God asks each of us to do some special work for Him. He gives us the resources we need to do His work. However, do we listen to God when He calls? Do we get up on our feet and use our talent to do the work He asks of us? Remember, God doesn’t call the equipped, he equips the called.

Bendiciones. P. Henry Ramirez.
