Message from the desk of the Pastor

My dear people of God,

Once again we approach that time when we remember those who have gone before us and now rest in God. All Christians begin their journey in life in Baptism and are a pilgrim people seeking our God. This Wednesday, November 1st, and Thursday, November 2nd, we remember our loved ones who have completed this journey. We honor them and we venerate them as we venerate the saints who are canonized by the church. Each Sunday we profess our belief in the “Communion of Saints”. These are our loved ones who are united to us. We should pray to them to intercede for us with God. They never forget us and we should never forget them. One day we hope and expect to be with them. While we are on our pilgrimage of life, each of us needs all the help and grace We can have. I hope our people will be at mass this Wednesday, a Holy Day of Obligation and will honor the Saints. On Thursday we pray for those who while completing their journey on earth, still must merit the joys of heaven…. All Soul’s Day. I believe that purification is one of love, but the Church teaches us that they still need our prayers and sacrifices. When we assist them through our prayers to look upon the Face of Jesus Christ, We also win their help in heaven.

Towards the end of November we celebrate Thanksgiving. In remembering, let us always give thanks to our loving God who constantly sus-tains and nourishes us.

May Our Parish Family be blessed with Peace and Unity.

May God bless you.

Sincerely yours in Christ, Fr. Joseph

I will walk by faith even when I cannot see. 2 Corinthians 5:7

When we start thinking about all of the things we need to finish or the little details about our future, you will feel overwhelmed. I have learned to take it one day at

a time and whatever happens, happens. That is where faith plays a huge role in this. God constantly throws situations at you to strengthen your faith. You have to believe He will get you through it and where you are right now is where God wants you to be. Walk through your problems with faith even when you can’t see. Please listen to Your Love Never Fails by Jesus Cul-ture. “You stay the same through the ages. Your love never changes and may be pain in the night, but joy comes in the morning. And when the oceans rage, I don’t have to be afraid because I know that You love me. Your love never fails.” Kylie

Kylie’s Corner

Don’t forget the St. Thomas Food Pantry with the Holiday’s coming up and so many people misplaced after the floods. Current needs are meat (ground beef, sausage, chicken, etc.), beans (pintos, red, black, etc.), clean gro-cery store bags. Monetary donations are also welcome. If you decide to donate perishable items, check in at the parish office so we can make arrangements to take the items to the food pantry during regular pantry hours (Tuesday-Thursday, before noon) or you can make arrangements to deliver the items directly. The pantry has refrigerators and freezers.

If you wish to deliver items directly, St. Thomas Food Pantry is at 415 S. Erskine in Angleton, Texas 77515 Call (979)849-9458 or (979)848-1285 The pantry is on Erskine. Go north on 35. Cross the Angleton loop, heading toward 288. One block past the loop, turn left onto Erskine. Continue on Erskine until you see the pantry and resale shop on the left.

Thank you for your prayers and well wishes during our flood. Many of you offered to

help us; for that we are very grateful. We are coming along slowly but sure-ly. Thanks to Joyce Prihoda who played the organ in my absence. By the time I resume playing, I will have found all my music. A word to the wise, don’t move to the wrong side of the levee’, you my have to add a boat to that house. Evelyn & Lee Boeker

Council 9817 November 21, 2017 Meeting

Please Pray for Priests

Dear Lord, we pray that the Blessed Mother wrap her mantle around your priests and through her intercession strengthen them for their ministry. We pray that Mary will guide your priests to follow her own words, “Do whatever He tells you” (Jn 2:5) May your priest have the heart of St. Joseph, Mary’s most chaste spouse. May the Blessed Mother’s own pierced heart inspire them to embrace all who suffer at the foot of the cross. May your priest be holy, filled with the fire of your love seek-ing nothing but your greater glory and the salvation of souls. Amen.

St. John Vianney, pray for us.
