  • THE THIRTEENTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME JUNE 27, 2021

The St. Ann “APP”: Associate Pastor’s Perspective- I am beginning to think I should make Wawa a place of Gospel ministry. Just the other day, as I was in between appointments, I stopped for a quick bite at the convenience store chain located on 202. Two women who were a few customers ahead of me in line were clearly distraught about something, and although I couldn’t hear what it was they were saying to the cashier, I decided it best to say a prayer for them as I waited my turn. As it happened – or as God worked it out – I ended-up behind them as we left the store, and as the older of the two women turned to me as she held the door, she started to cry. (I seem to have that effect on people … haha!) “Oh Father,” she said as we walked toward our cars, “you have no idea how much I needed to see you right now. Please just give me a blessing.” So there I stood in the middle of Wawa’s parking lot during the lunch-time rush, praying for these women who clearly were seeking comfort and hope during a trying time. When she asked my name and where I was assigned, her face lit-up when I told her. “You’ll never know how God just used you to answer a prayer by saying the name “Ann,” she told me, and then hugged me before getting in her car. Truthfully, I have no idea what God did through me that Tuesday afternoon, but clearly, one of God’s beloved needed to know He hadn’t abandoned her in her hour of need. It was humbling for me to witness how He made His Love known to her. And here’s the most incredible thing: All we have to do is stay open to becoming God’s instrument for others in ways that help them find Him. We may never know this side of heaven how the Spirit uses us, but we will in eternity, I suspect. In the meantime, I’m thinking of setting-up shop in the local Wawa parking lot: prayer; confessions; blessings; you name it. I sometimes think that’s exactly where He’d be these days …

St. Ann’s Updated COVID Guidelines - Fully vaccinated individuals can choose whether or not to wear a mask - so please do not assume if someone is wearing a mask that they are unvaccinated. Please understand that everyone's comfort level is different as we go through this "reopening process". Those unvaccinated or not yet fully vaccinated must continue to wear a mask. The mass times will remain as is for now – 4pm on Saturdays, 7:30am and 10:30am on Sundays. We will still have the last four rows (including those side rows) roped off accordingly for those who are more comfortable with being “socially distance”. The remainder of the pews will be open. Some other info: *Sign of Peace will not be reinstated for now. * Priests are now permitted to enter and leave by the center aisle. * Eucharist will return to its appropriate place in the Liturgy, with two ministers assisting with Communion distribution. * All doors will be used as an entrance/exit. * The dispensation for attending mass on Sunday and Holy Days is lifted. The obligation does not apply to those who are ill, have been exposed to the virus, or have any serious underlying health conditions. Finally, throughout the summer months, we will be working on updating our schedule for lectors and special ministers of the Eucharist, If you are interested in joining or returning to these ministries, please email Tim McMahon ([email protected]) as he creates an updated list. Thank you for your patience and understanding as we move forward.

Annual Appeal Update - Efforts to raise necessary resources in support of the 2021 Annual Catholic Appeal continue in our Diocese. St. Ann’s is truly blessed with many generous people, who, despite many economic challenges, have supported this year’s campaign with their pledges and gifts. To date, $116,490 has been pledged representing 83% of our parish’s $140,000 goal. If you have given to this year’s campaign, please know that your participation is gratefully appreciated. If you have not yet done so, please consider supporting this important effort with a pledge or one-time contribution. It is never too late to participate. The Appeal is an effective way for the diocese to advance the mission of Christ: to feed and house the poor; to minister to the sick and discouraged; to educate our young; and encourage strong, healthy families. To donate, www.cdow.org/annualcatholicappeal. May God bless you for your generosity! 2
