Reasons for Hope Frances Thomson, the celebrated English Catholic poet describes God as a loving ‘hound of heaven,’ who chases sinners relentlessly.

I FLED Him, down the nights and down the days; I fled Him, down the arches of years; I fled Him down the labyrinthine ways of my mind; and in the midst of tears I hid from Him, and running laughter. Up vistaed hopes I sped; And shot, precipitated, Adown Titanic glooms of chasmed fears, From those strong Feet that followed, followed after. But with unhurrying chase, And unperturbed pace, Deliberate speed, majestic instancy, They beat-- and a Voice beat More instant than the Feet--- ‘All things betray thee, who betrayest Me.’ ——————— ‘Rise, clasp My hand, and Come!’ ——————— ‘Ah, fondest, blindest, weakest, I am He Whom thou seekest! Thou dravest love from thee, who dravest Me.’

Our reasons for hope even when we go through difficult moments is that our Loving God will not let us go down in sorrow or despair. Jesus help us to let go our attachments and let God as the center of our being and life.

The Arise Small Groups and parish retreat are wonderful ways to experience this ever chasing love of God and his hope. Please do not miss this fabulous opportunity to rekindle the inner fire.

Blessings of Peace and Love,

Fr. Tom

P. Tom
