WHY A ST. AMBROSE MBA? For more than 30 years, professionals at all phases of their careers have chosen
St. Ambrose University’s H.L. McLaughlin Master of Business Administration program
to build on their current talents, experience and skills to become more valuable to their
organizations—and to themselves. Our students appreciate the program’s distinctive
features: A personalized education provided by knowledgeable, dedicated faculty who
challenge and mentor you throughout your degree. A student-focused blend of course
delivery and multiple sites that provides the flexibility and convenience to fit your needs.
Highly relevant classroom instruction interwoven with collaborative real-world projects
that our students find they can apply immediately to their jobs and lives.
Our integrative curriculum provides grounding in how key areas of business relate to
and impact each other. You’ll learn how to understand and evaluate business problems
from multiple perspectives, allowing you to bring more effective solutions to the table.
And with our emphasis on values-based education, you learn to analyze and evaluate
the ethical issues in business situations—an
especially vital skill, since decision-making is
not always black and white.
an investment in you Through their
interaction with Ambrose faculty, staff and
fellow MBA candidates, our students share and
gain valuable knowledge of the business environment, from local to global. Those
connections continue to build long after graduation. Our alumni are able to keep
their skills current and competitive through St. Ambrose lectures and conferences
on timely business topics, and numerous Web-based resources available through
the university library. Most of all, students find that employers value our graduates’
“win-win” approach to business practice, team building and problem solving.
flExiBlE, cHAllEnGinG, inTEGRATinG > In the H.L. McLaughlin MBA program, students learn to examine and integrate
all functional aspects of business decisions, such as the operational and financial
implications of a marketing initiative. As a result, our graduates are equipped
to contribute fully both to meeting their organization’s everyday challenges and
developing strategic initiatives.
> Realizing that flexibility is essential to working professionals, St. Ambrose
faculty and staff work closely with students to help accommodate their individual
circumstances. The MBA program is offered on-site at multiple locations throughout
eastern Iowa. Students enrolled part-time can earn their MBA degree in two to
three years.
> You will be challenged to build on your current skills, knowledge and life experiences
—both personal and professional—so that you can become more resourceful and
focused. As a result, you’ll graduate prepared not only to achieve your immediate
goals, but also with the knowledge base to continue to grow professionally. In short,
you will become more valuable to yourself and your organization.
> We work with students to make their education affordable. Approximately
85 percent of students find that their employers will provide some kind of
educational assistance. Other sources of
financial aid are loans and a limited
number of graduate assistantships.
In our intensive,
five-day seminar, Leadership Through
People Skills, you learn to identify your
personal operating style
and acquire the practical skills needed
to manage successfully.
faculty connections Most full-time
faculty members have earned doctoral
degrees, but they also bring a wide range of
real-world experiences to the classroom. Professors routinely incorporate these
business experiences and applications, along with examples from students’
own workplaces, into class discussion. While the focus is on student learning,
having faculty members who are current and productive in their fields ensures a
learning process that reflects contemporary best practices.

those existing talents and experiences. You will be challenged
and mentored by faculty and staff who define their success in
terms of your success.
We emphasize participating effectively on teams, so you’ll have
plenty of practice working on real-world, team-based projects.
