Great Program, Great Choices

EVENING MBA PROGRAMThe Evening MBA program is an educational experience hallmarked by academic rigor in a curriculum interwoven with current business issues and research, beyond-the-classroom professor interaction, unparalleled student services and a Jesuit tradition of excellence in education spanning 450 years.

Designed to maximize the time and commitment of the working professional or full-time student, the Evening MBA offers conve-nience and responsiveness to the scheduling and educational needs of students. Courses are taught by full professors active in the business community and scholarship. Courses are offered for two or three credit hours. Three-credit-hour courses meet for 16 weeks, while two-credit-hour courses meet for half the academic term, thus allowing students maximum flexibility in scheduling. An accelerated full-course sched-ule runs in the summer term as well.

The number of credit hours required to com-plete the program varies from a minimum of 36 hours to a maximum of 59 hours, depending on the number of foundation skills courses needed and the concentration chosen.

WEEKEND MBA PROGRAMDesigned for students unable to take classes during the week, the Weekend MBA program offers the excellence of the MBA curricu-lum but provides the opportunity to earn the 36 hours of the core curriculum (600-level courses only) by taking courses on Saturdays for six consecutive semesters.

Students who enroll in this program receive the MBA degree in two years. Admission to the weekend program is limited, with approximately 30 students chosen for admission each fall. Students participate in a cohort structure and attend classes only once a week. The weekend program requires that all foundation

skills courses (500-level) are completed before admission. Those needing founda-tion skills courses may take them as part of the Evening MBA program or can have them waived by undergraduate academic credit or examination.

The Weekend MBA program starts once each year in the fall semester. Saturday morning and afternoon classes are offered. Students follow an established curriculum of 12 courses that are offered sequentially.

XAVIER OFFERS FOUR DISTINCT MBA PROGRAMS to meet the diverse needs of working professionals. Each program engages students in an outstanding educational experience that enables them to meet and exceed their personal and career goals. Each provides a challenging curriculum, superior student services, intensive professor interaction, professional development and alumni networking—features typically found only in full-time MBA programs. Finally, each results in a graduate degree with benefits that last a lifetime.

THE MBA PROGRAM AT XAVIER:

The only nationally ranked program in the region.

Ranked 16th in the nation in 2009 by U.S. News & World Report in the part-time program category.

Named one of the Best Business Colleges in the nation by The Princeton Review.

The degree is awarded by the university where more than half the core program is completed.

From all other institutions, a maximum of six hours of transfer credit for upper-level and elective courses may be accepted toward the MBA degree. All transferred coursework must be approved by the MBA office and be a grade of “B” or better.

FOUNDATION SKILLS COURSES WAIVERFoundation skills courses may be waived if you have completed similar courses with a grade of “B” or better within the last five years at an accredited undergraduate institution. Undergrad-uate catalog course descriptions and/or course syllabi may be requested in support of waiver consideration. Also, each foundation skills course may be waived by successfully completing a waiver exam. The exam can only be taken once for any course. Contact the Office of the MBA Program for scheduling details.

PROGRAM COMPLETIONYou have six years to complete the entire MBA program. If all coursework is not completed within this time frame, you may be asked to re-apply and be subject to revisions of your original pro-gram requirements.

Students must take all courses designated as part of their program at the time of admission. Prerequisites must be checked before registra-tion. Foundation-level courses must be completed before upper-level core courses are taken. A student on provisional or conditional admis-sion must meet the requirements of admission before being fully admitted into the MBA program. If the student does not meet these requirements, the student faces academic action such as retaking the course, academic warning and/or dismissal.
