Quick start teNNisinstructor: ken Marisseau

QuickStart Tennis play format takes a new and better approach to introducing kids to the game. Balls are lower in compression; they bounce lower and don’t move as fast so they are easier to hit. This allows kids time to get to the ball and helps them develop optimal swing patterns. Racquets are sized for small hands, and the courts are smaller and easier to cover. All that equals more fun and less frustration.

Drum roll please… Lights, camera, action! Whether you like to dance, act, sing, or play an instrument, this is the camp for you! HPAC is a week- long day camp for children entering grades 6 through 9 who have an interest and/or passion for the performing arts. Campers will select to participate in band and/or musical theater, as well as an arts elective, such as ukulele, jazz/pep band, dance, and more. On Friday, our week culminates with a community performance in the afternoon. At Hartford Performing Arts Camp, we also love to get outside for HPAC Olympics, when campers get to play a variety of fun summer games like a water balloon toss or a relay race. Note: to play in the band, campers need to have been playing a band instrument for at least a year, and have access to an instrument. Participants need a lunch every day except Friday. A T-shirt, special guest artist(s), and Friday’s lunch is included in the registration fee.

Family & Community ProgramsGraNDMa & Me story Walkstella, Fairy of the ForestBy: Marie-louise Gay

Stella’s little brother, Sam, wonders whether fairies are invisible. Stella assures him that she has seen hundreds of them and says that if she and Sam venture across the meadow and into the forest, they are likely to find some. So begins another adventure of Stella, the irrepressible redhead, and her slightly apprehensive little brother. But Sam surprises Stella and himself by having a few ideas of his own — ideas that ensure a wonderful end to a perfect day in the woods. The group will venture on the trails in the Hurricane Forest and stop at stations to read along to the story as they go. Each station will bring the group to a next part of the story. When the story’s over, the group will gather at the picnic tables at Wright’s Reservoir for a story related craft and picnic. Bring a lunch. Drinks and cookies will be provided.

New england at more than 70 locations every summer. the little red Wagon, a grass-roots

model program for the state of New hampshire, was instrumental to the introduction of theatre education into the public school system as a

supportive tool for reading and learning.

the Princess, the Pauper, and other stories combines several Moroccan Fairy tales into one

beautiful story. audiences will enjoy watching as a young member of the royal family must take the lessons he has learned from growing up on fairy tales and make a decision that will affect
