According to official statement, he was interacting with the representa- tives of J&K Unemployed Physical Edu- cation & Sports Association (JKUPE- SA), who called on him here today. The Minister said the Government was serious in introducing Rehbar-e- Khel scheme (ReK) under which trained physical education youth would be provided opportunity to serve as the promoters of sports activities at differ- ent levels. He said there are about 7311 trained unemployed physical youth whose services could be used to serve the purpose. He further said in the first phase, the Government is engaging 1500 ReKs adding that the matter with regard to their remuneration has already been taken up with the Finance Minister. “The implementation of Rehbar-e-Khel forms one of the major sports promotion initiatives being taken by the Government under the leadership of Chief Minister Ms Mehbooba Mufti” he added. Listing various initiatives taken in this regard, the Minister said that grooming talented youth in sports of their interest is going on to prepare them for National and International competitions. Responding to the demands put forth by the JKUPESA, the Minister assured them that the selection of ReKs will be made purely on merit basis. While hailing the initiatives, the Association thanked Chief Minister Ms Mehbooba Mufti and the sports Minis- ter Mulvi Imran Ansari for introducing Rehbar-e-Khel scheme in the State. Spain bound Kashmiri footballers meet President Bilquis again selected as National team coach ABID KHAN Srinagar, Feb 9: Having been part of the National water sports team as coach from last 11 years, International water sports coach of J&K, Bilquis Mir has again been selected the job of training Indian team for International event. Bilquis has been assigned to train Indian team for the Asian Canoe Slalom champi- onship scheduled to be held at Thailand. The camp would be spon- sored by Sports Authority of India and would be held under the banner of Indian Kayaking and Canoeing Association. In the camp also, two Kashmiri two Canoe slalom players, Villayat Hussain and Munner Ahmad Malik have been included for their brilliant performance during national canoe slalom cham- pionship held at Meneshwar Indore MP. “It is always an honor when you get appointed as coach of Indian team that is scheduled to take part in international competition. I have been doing this from last 11 years and have learnt lot through the process,” Bilquis said. “Being part of Indian teams training programs has also helped me to develop water sport in the JK. Recently we have been able to start water sports academy in Kashmir that was inaugurated by Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti,” She said. About the camp and inclu- sion of two Kashmiri players in it, Mir said,“ Both players are talented and have done well at national level. in the camp they will learn new things and their talent would be nurtured in proper way. DG CRPF, K Durga Prasad accompanied both the players Basit Ahmed and Muhammad Asrar Rehbar who called on the President of India and introduced both the players, who were mentored with active CRPF support, a CRPF statement said. The President congratulated two footballers on being the first Indian to play in the Spanish professional league matches and wished them a bright future in football. Football is very popular game in Jammu and Kashmir. The valley has produced top class players who have gone on to play at both national and international level. "Azhar met me today and offered to step down as one-day captain as he says it has been affecting his own performances," Khan told the media in Dubai. "I have spoken to Sarfaraz Ahmed and he has given his consent to take over as the ODI captain," Khan said. "We have appointed Sarfaraz as the new ODI captain," he added. Rehbar-e-Khel Scheme to be introduced in JK: Ansari

Srinagar, Feb 9: Having been part of the National water sports team as coach from last 11 years, International water sports coach of J&K, Bilquis Mir has again been selected the job of training Indian team for International event.

Bilquis has been assigned to train Indian team for the Asian Canoe Slalom champi-onship scheduled to be held at Thailand.
