Our Board
Shri. Nikhil Sen
Shri. Nikhil Sen belongs to that rare breed of professional leaders in today’s
business world… a oneorganization man, who has then moved on to becoming a
successful business entrepreneur with Unibic Biscuits India. He has risen from the
role of a Management Trainee in Britannia through the sales team culminating in
his appointment as Head of domestic as well as exports sales in 1990. He also
managed the marketing function of one of India’s most visible and vibrant
companies. In early 2000, after business leadership stints in the SBUs he has
raised to lead one of India’s most trusted brands and most sought after Food
companies. With a sales turnover of around Rs.15 billion and profits of around
Rs.2 billion as Chief Operating Officer. He then moved on to become a founder
share holder for Unibic Biscuits in India. Under his stewardship the company has
been able carve a niche for itself at the premium end of the cookie market. Shri.
Nikhil Sen is a strategist of repute. When Britannia was, despite its highly visible
state, becoming a niche player in the premium segment Mr. Sen is credited to have
co-authored the strategy of re inventing brand Britannia and launch of Tiger brand
in the mass market. Tiger is India’s very own creation and contribution to the
Biscuit world and its mercuric rise and mammoth success is believed to have led
Britannia’s Global associate to invite Mr. Sen and his team to the South East Asian
countries to replicate Tiger in those countries. His strategic initiatives include
“Britannia for a life time” which made the brand relevant to various age groups
through a detailed cohort analysis. This resulted in Britannia successfully
straddling both ends of the spectrum i.e. health and staples on the one hand
fulfilling hunger appeasement and snacking and indulgence fulfilling oral
gratification on the other.

SSRVM Bangalore South Educational Science Field Trip, July, 2016
The students of Grade 9 visited the farm in the Art of Living Ashram premises on
9th July 2016, Saturday. The objective of the field trip was to make them familiar
with the concept of Organic Farming. There was an interactive session where the
students were enlightened about the ideas related to Organic Farming, Rain Water
Harvesting, etc. They were quite surprised to know something novel and innovative
idea called 'Perma Culture' or 'Permanent Agriculture'. The students were
mesmerized by the size of the organic vegetables they had seen there. The rain in
between did not weaken their spirits. The students were thus able to impart fun in
the learning process themselves.

World Yoga Day – ‘Yoga is the journey, of the self, through the self, to the self.’ –
Bhagavad Gita. Yoga is an ancient art which was originated in India around five
thousand years ago. It is considered that Yoga began in India in the pre-Vedic
period. Since thousands of years Yoga has been an integral part of the Indian
lifestyle and the rich Indian heritage. It is a perfect blend of knowledge, action
and devotion. Yoga has the power to unite the entire human race. Countless
people around the world have made Yoga a part of their lives. In many parts of
the world, it has been spreading its wings of wonder. Yoga is a good practice if
one does it in daily life. It helps us to achieve a perfect balance of body, mind and
soul. We should let the society and specially the youth of today know the benefits
of practicing Yoga in daily routine. In the light of this belief and after the
inception of World Yoga Day, as an event celebrated worldwide, on June
21stevery year; we at SSPM's Sri Sri Ravishankar Vidya Mandir, Borivali have
upheld the tradition of celebrating
This day with great zeal and zest. SSRVM Borivali, celebrated World Yoga Day on
19th June 2016 at SSRVM Borivali (East). With the blessings of our Guruji 'His
Holiness Sri Sri Ravishankar' and under the blissful guidance of Swami
Purnachaitanya (International faculty of Art of living foundation), believers and
worshippers of the yogic way of life came together in overwhelming numbers to
enjoy the positive vibe and serene tranquillity created by meditation and
performing of asanas in the cool and pure weather of the monsoon. The light
shower of rain that graced us all during the event was a welcome benediction to
calm the stressed mind. The celebrations continued throughout the school on 21st
June 2016, where our students and members of the staff added in on the tranquil
ambience by performing asanas and meditating in the school premises. The
positive energy created by this collective meditation truly advocated the whole
idea of dedicating an auspicious day to the art of Yoga, towards creating a stress
free society. To conclude, with the divine words of our Guruji resonating within
us always, and I quote; “In whatever capacity you do something for the society,
for the environment, that much you progress. Both materially and spiritually. The
heart opens up with a feeling that you are a part of everyone.” We at SSRVM
Borivali pledge to do our bit for the society, every year, by spreading the celestial
knowledge of yoga amongst all and creating citizens of future India who are aware
and alert about their spiritual and civic duties.

Cultural Evening
Classes 7 and 8 – Trikaal (06/01/2017)
Sanskriti, the annual day celebrations at Sri Sri Ravishankar Vidya Mandir always has something new in it every time.
To uphold the tradition of the school of ‘providing opportunities for every student to perform during an annual day celebration’ and to combat logistical issues, the school this year decided to split the annual day as a four day event.
The first two sessions featuring students of class 7 and 8 ; and 9 and 10 were held on 06/01/2017 and 07/01/2017 respectively.
The theme taken up by the students of classes 7 and 8, was ‘Trikaal’. On a quest to go back in time, two scientists – Nishanth and Sasimitra of class 8, use their time machine to go back to the past and wherever their time machine ‘broke down’ or had to stop for ‘recharge’, they not only get to meet the different emperors ruling those places at those times but also get a
sneak peak into their rich culture. From Napolean to Krishnadevaraya, from Nero to the Chinese rulers – all have so much to offer these two scientists – dances, music and so on.
The students in vibrant costumes apt for the chosen art form, excelled in all their performance. Various dance forms like Kathak, Ghoomar, Odissi, Hip Hop, Break Dance, Mizoram Bamboo Dance and so on were displayed by the children.
The music team presented three scintillating numbers – the Carnatic masterpiece of Saint Tyagaraja, Girirajasuta Tanaya in Raaga BangaaLa ; the popular Rabindra Sangeet number Ekla Chalo Re and the foot tapping Gujarati Garbha number Pankhida.
The Kannada drama featuring King Krishnadevaraya, the Raja Guru and the court jester Tenali Rama was a treat to watch. The actors did a fantastic job
in tickling our funny bones.
Icing on the cake was a wonderful presentation of the popular song ‘Never Drag Me Down’ by the band ‘One Direction. This was presented by a team of energetic students of class 8. The team which had Siddarth Devraj on the

Electric Guitar, Dhruva on the Acoustic Guitar and Chaandas on the Acoustic Drums was highly successful in turning the ambience into a rocking and a pulsating one.
It would be well within the context to add here that the entire scripting of
‘Trikaal’ was done by Nishanth and Sasimitra of class 8.
All the programmes were highly entertaining and the left the audience wanting for more. Not to forget the efforts of all the teachers and staff who played a vital role behind the success of the programme.
The performances went on to reiterate the vision statement given by our beloved Poojya Gurudev – ‘Broaden the vision, deepen the roots’
