A Message from Governor Phoebe
Hello Florida District!Hope everyone’s summer is starting off with a ton of fun and at least a little bit of service! My name is Phoebe Sartori and I will be serving as your 2017-2018 Florida District Governor. So, a little about me: I currently attend New College of Florida (I’ll be a senior/4th year), I am studying Psychology and Music (I play guitar, ukulele, bass, violin, clarinet, and I sing), and I’m hoping to either end up in clinical psych or education (potentially both). I’ve been in the CKI family for the past 3 years (this will be my 8th year in the Kiwanis Family). In this time, I have served in a variety of roles, but most recently served as your 2016-17 District secretary (so I kind of have a feel for what is going on in our district on a larger scale). As my year of Governor has just began, I’m already seeing the tremendous amount of passion and service being put out by this year’s District Board, and I think their energy and enthusiasm will be contagious. I can’t wait to see what we get done as a district this year! That being said, I know that we will accomplish great things this year with all of y’alls encouragement and passion for service! I look forward to meeting and getting to know many of you all at our upcoming district events (such as DLSSP, LTC, and DCON) as well as the club visits that I plan on doing in the fall! I hope we can all sync up in service (aka my governor’s project) this year as we continue to grow as the Florida District of Circle K International.
Besos,
Phoebe
p.s. As governor, I am here for YOU! That means if you want/need anything, please do not hesitate to reach out to me via phone call, email, or text!!!! <3
A Message from District Administrator Amanda
Hello Florida CKI!
I am Amanda Saguil, currently serving as your District Administrator. First, please join me in giving Immediate Past Governor Jackie Aranibar and the 2016-2017 Florida CKI District Board many thanks for the amazing year they have just completed. Second, please also join me in giving Governor Phoebe Sartori and the 2017-2018 Florida CKI District Board our support for the upcoming year.
A little background about me: I became a member of the Kiwanis Family in the Fall of 1994 by joining the Stetson University Circle K (Go Hatters!) During my collegiate career, I served as the Club Publicity Chair, Club President, Citrus Lt. Governor and District Treasurer. After graduation, I joined the Florida CKI Alumni Association and served several terms as Secretary-Treasurer and Club Director. I also joined Kiwanis in September 2005 and served in several positions, including Club President, Division 12 Lt. Governor, Key Club Zone Administrator, K-Kids/Builders Club Administrator and now, CKI District Administrator.
I look forward to meeting as many CKI members as possible at our District events, which are Leadership Training Conference (LTC) October 6-8, 2017, and District Convention (DCON) February 16-18, 2018. Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions at [email protected].

My Goals
Write• Encourage club editors to publish in the Circle Kapers• Host regular webinars and office hours to train club
editors on brand guide elements
Inspire• Publish successful projects in the monthly Kapers to
motivate clubs to complete more projects• Highlight members’ personal stories to stimulate
event attendance and club growth
Network• Publish in the Key Club ‘Sunshine Source” and the
“Florida Kiwanian” to promote CKI events• Create an online Editor’s Bulletin to allow clubs to
share ideas for service projects
WHAT?The Governor’s Project for this year is “Service in Sync” which is an all ages rotational mentorship program in which any direct impact or act of service you make for a person in your community counts.
HOW?Every two months the age focus of the project will change (working with age groups outside of the focus STILL COUNTS), but the entire focus of the project is to make direct connections with members of our community. We begin by working on projects like school supply drives and park builds with ages 6-11 (June/July) and we’ll move into the school year working with ages 12-14 (August/September) and hopefully have a service guide for the entire year out by the end of the summer (keep a look out). The goal to complete 3000 hours of service under the Governor’s project this year, so please make it a point to fill out your Monthly Report Form as provided on the Membership Update Center by Circle K International

District BoardRecognizes the newly appointed Committee Chairs
“I’d like to give a shout out to all of my Committee Chairs who have stepped up, shown initiative, and committed to their new positions! We have a fantastic board (elected and not) who have already committed a lot of their time and are hard at work making sure this year goes well for all of us.” - Governor Phoebe
CKI MemberFSU – Melanie Flores
Melanie Flores is passionate about helping the community and raising environmental awareness. She recently took interest in
iGrow in Frenchtown, where youth empowerment joins the urban agriculture program of Tallahassee Food Network. At
iGrow Tallahassee, the focus is on teaching the youth in the community how to create a
sustainable agricultural system for healthy food available to all while maintaining a focus
on building a business and managing it. Volunteers, like Melanie work in the urban garden, learn about what can be grown in
this setting and how this can be accomplished. Melanie made an impact by attending many of the service trips to the
local coalition to bring fresh food to the Frenchtown area, where many would not be able to purchase these commodities without
the iGrow program.
