SPECTATORPre-Rally Activities -- Welcome to the

Thursday, 16th April 2015 -Thursday Afternoon - SASOL Rally Shakedown Stage - HENDRIKSDAL

- The shakedown stage will be held on a section of Stage 12 (&14) near Hendriksdal and next to the R37 Nelspruit-Lydenburg road. See map for “All Stages” & detailed map for “Stages 12/14”.

- From Nelspruit, proceed with Madiba Drive (R40) towards the “R37 Mashishing (Lydenburg) / R532-Sabie” turn-off and travel with the R37 towards Mashishing/Sabie, through Roodewal & Rosehaugh towards Hendriksdal for �43kms. The start & finish of the shakedown stage is on the right, 1,5km before the railway bridge over the R37 road, 1km before reaching the Hendriksdal/Rhenosterhoek crossroads.

- From Sabie proceed with Main Street (R532) towards Mashishing (Lydenburg), turn-off towards Nelspruit on the R37 and travel towards Hendriksdal, go straight on at the Hendriksdal / Rhenosterhoek crossroads and pass under a railway bridge over the R37 road for �19kms. The shakedown stage is then on the left over the next 1.5km.

- On arrival at the shakedown stage, park your vehicle next the R37 at one of the points as per the map and watch the rally cars circulating on the stage. See detailed map for “Stages 12 /14” (refer GPS 14).

- You are also welcome to browse around and view the rally teams as they change the set-up of their vehicles & then run the shake-down stage repeatedly to improve their performance.

- Pre-Event EntertainmentThursday Evening - SASOL Pitstop – SABIE

- From Nelspruit for �60kms, proceed to the R40 (White River / Barberton road) and then travel towards White River, just before White River turn left at robot and travel towards Sabie (R537).

- On arrival in Sabie, park your vehicle & join the various activities in central Sabie between the SABIE Town Hall and the SPAR Market Square, around Main (Hoof) Street. See “SABIE Town” map.

- You are welcome to browse around this area and snack on the many “goodies” that are on sale by the locals at the various stalls.

- You can join in the fun and meet the different Rally Teams to view their cars & get some autographs and posters.

- A pre-rally decal check and scrutineering of the rally cars will take place in front of the MTN shop on the Sabie Market Square.

- Documentation for the rally will be on the premises of JOCKS SABIE LODGE behind the Engen Service Station & KFC outlets.

While the Promoters and Organisers of the SASOL RALLY have taken every possible precaution for the safety of the specatators, itis impossible to guarantee their safety in view of the high speedsattained by the competitors. Entry to the special stages and other rally roads is therefore permitted upon the clear understanding that any spectator attending the rally appreciates the risks involved and waivers for himself / herself, his / hers successors, assigns or dependants, any claim or claims he / she might, save for this waiver,have against the promoters, organisers or beneficiaries or the owneror the lessor of this property, in respect of any injury or damage, however arising which he / she may suffer when attending this rally.

- Please stand in safe spectating positions - see the guide on the Right & follow the instructions by our Crowd Control Marshals.

- Motorsport South Africa request you not to Drink & Drive whilst spectating on this event – we value the lives of other road users.

ENTRANCE INTO “YORK & MTO FORESTS”: - Please note that Spectators are ONLY allowed in the forests at the

designated points as per this Guide.- Spectators are NOT allowed to drive into forests with their vehicles at anyplace, you may only walk in.

SPECTATOR GUIDEFriday, 17th April 2015 - “Day One - Section 1”

START OF RALLY - “Sabie Market Square”1st Car Due: 10h00, Rally cars will leave at 1 minute intervals – See map “SABIE Town”

- From Nelspruit, proceed to the R40 (White River / Barberton road) and travel towards White River, just before White River turn left at robot towards Sabie (R537).

- On arrival in Sabie at the Market Square area, park your vehicle to ensure a quick exit towards Graskop.

- View the rally cars in the Pre-Start Holding Area (from 09h00 in Town Hall parking area) & watch the flag-off ceremony @ 10H00 for the first 5 to 10 cars in the “Sabie Market Square” parking area.

- The rally cars will drive from the start down Main Road out of Sabie towards Graskop, turn left to Klein Sabie & then through Simile where they will pass next to the High School, before returning to Sabie & then drive out towards Lone Creek Falls for the Start of first Stage opposite the York Sawmill.

SERVICE PARKS “Pre-Event, A, B & C” - “Sabie-York Sports Grounds”1st Car Due: Pre-Event from 07h00 to Start of Rally

A = 10h45 [after SS1 = 20 min], B = 13h33 & C = 16h34 [after SS3 & 5 = 30 min each]

- The service park is at the “York Timbers Sports Grounds”, just outside Sabie on the road towards Lone Creek Falls / Bridal Veil Falls - See Service Map “Pre-Event”, “A”, “B” & “C”.

- In Sabie from Point ”A” (See “SABIE Town” map):- Proceed with Main Road towards Graskop (R532),- �0.7 km -Turn Left into Lydenburg Road towards Bridal Veil Falls/Lone Creek Falls (D2220), - �2.7 km - Straight over railway crossing,- �2.9 km - Turn Right onto gravel road at S/P “York Timbers Sports Grounds”,

- !!! Oncoming Rally cars- �3.2 km - Straight through Narrow Gate (enter “York Timbers Sports Grounds)- �3.4 km - Fork Left & find a parking spot to the Left on the soccer field – Please Do Not Obstruct the

flow of the Rally cars and service crews. Walk around the outside perimeter of the bunted off service area & watch the servicing / repair activities of the rally teams.

SPECIAL STAGE “1” - 14.50 km - “YORK Timbers – Olifantsgeraamte” SSS 1: 1st Car Due: SSS = 10h21, ESS = �10h30 - See map “SS 1”- Start of Stage - �3.2 km outside Sabie in the forest above the York-Sawmill on the road opposite

the Bridal Veil Falls Turn-off

- Spectating at Start NOT RECOMMENDED - First car due @ �10h21

- End of Stage - �3.4 km outside Sabie on the Lone Creek Falls road: (LIMITED)- �2.9 km – Keep Straight on at Turn-off to York-Sport Grounds Service Park- �3.2 km - 4-way STOP, Crossroads, Keep Straight on- �6.6 km - End of stage on gravel road to Left - Do Not Enter OR Obstruct this exit road

- LIMITED Spectating at the End of the Stage, �500m from the tar road - Rally cars approach down-hill from the mountain side into a fast 90o right and then towards the Flying Finish

- First car due @ �10h30

Middle of Stage - Just below Long Tom Pass (R532) on gravel road starting at 51/6 km sign:- From Point ”A” in Sabie continue with Main Street towards Nelspruit / Lydenburg (R532/R37), - �1.5 km - Straight on out of Sabie (Sabie Station to right), - �2.9 km - Straight on (Hillwatering Country House to right), - �3.1 km - Straight on, S/P “R532 Lydenburg – 52 km” on left,- �3.9 km - Road to right & “51/6 km” distance sign post on right, Two Options available:

Option One: Excellent Spectating (RECOMMENDED)- �3.9 km - Turn Right at road to right (“51/6 km” distance sign post),- �4.0 km - Tar ends- �4.1 km - Fork Left on gravel road - GOOD Spectating at:

- a. Straight on at road to left & keep on for �300m straight down this gravel road, park & walk ahead to point where the rally cars will emerge from the trees with a 90o right, short straight followed by a 90o right into the trees = “GPS 1” - First car due @ �10h14

- b. Small gravel road directly to left, walk in �250m – Rally cars will approach up-hill next to trees & make a very sharp 90o right hairpin before disappearing into the trees = “GPS 2”- First car due @ �10h16

!! Note: Please do not enter the bunted off areas with your vehicle

Option Two: EXCELLENT Spectating (RECOMMENDED)- �3.9 km - 51/6 km distance sign post on right - Straight on, - �5.2 to 5.5 km - Park on left & walk to right over road to spectating points,- �5.6 km - 50/0 km distance sign post on right – Do Not Park around the next blind corner,- �5.65 km - Roads & Big Rock to right, end of spectating section for SS 1 = “GPS 3”

- !!!! - NOTE: Please do not enter the bunted off areas with your vehicle.

- !!!!! - CAUTION: - No Spectator vehicles will be allowed to enter this point, as all the roads on the hillside will be used by the Rally Cars, park your vehicle in a safe place next to the tar road (not on the blind corner) & walk back to the entry point. DO NOT ENTER these roads with your vehicle - there will be no place to park it or exit during the running of the stage.

- EXCELLENT spectating (RECOMMENDED):

- 1. From this hillside, rally cars will be visible in the valley below while traversing up & down the forest you will be able to see them for a number of short bursts as the cars enter/exit the trees.

- 2. The cars will finally emerge on the east straight ahead from the trees and make two right turnsjust below the big rock before disappearing northwards along the hillside below Long Tom Pass.


- !!! Note: Please do not obstruct the normal traffic flow on Long Tom Pass. Please park safely on the sideverges of the road & away from the tar’s edge over this spectating section.

Stage & Roads Description

A fast stage, with loose dusty red gravel roads. Firstly switching back & forth below Long Tom Pass, then uphill the around the mountain top, followed by twisty & turning roads along the mountain contours below Longtom pass, fininshing close to the Start point. - A major "spectator" stage close to Sabie with many good spectating

points.

- Access is thus limited to Rally Cars only, due to 2-directional rally & forest traffic on these narrow and very twisty roads with many blind corners on the entry & exit roads.

- !!! Please do not enter the entry/exit roads – forest trucks/fast Rally Cars from ahead.

- Start of Stage – From the R532, �0.6 km from the Pilgrims Rest turn-off (�4.3 km from Graskop) , on a twisty/blind corner gravel road, �0.4 km into the forest.

- NO Entry for Spectators allowed - First car due @ �12h29 [�15h30]

- Near Start of Stage – EXCELLENT Spectating on a gravel road past Driekop Forest Workshops:

- Two Options available to reach this point:

- Option One - RECOMMENDED:- �24.2 km - Keep straight on towards Graskop (R532) (Start Stage 3 [& 5] on road to left),- �25.0 km - Turn sharp Left onto a gravel road & keep to major road for 900m (ignore all side roads),- �26.0 km - Major forest road ahead, park & walk towards this road = “GPS 4”

Post Office / Banks parking grounds.- Note: Park your vehicle in an easily accessible area to proceed out towards White River- R537 for SS7. - High Speed Rally cars are very dangerous, Do Not Enter “No-Go” red barrier taped off high danger areas,- Keep behind the Speed Fencing & do not stand between Speed Fencing & Buildings, - No spectators will be allowed on centre islands inside or directly on corners of the stage,- !!! They will then enter the premises of the Rob Ferreira High School, running towards the main school entrance building for another hairpin & then towards the school hall, before running back towards this school’s entrance gate & into the Flying Finish in Danie Joubert Street - First car due @ 19:25.

- There are many excellent spectating points, you should be able to see the cars pass more than once:- High Speed Rally cars are very dangerous, stay off the tar road & stay on the pavement,- !!! Stand-up, do not sit down on the pavement edges & do not run over the roads !!!, - Keep behind the Barrier Tape & Speed Fencing (& do not stand between Speed Fencing & Buildings), - Do Not Enter the “No-Go” red barrier taped off high danger areas,- No spectators will be allowed on centre islands inside or directly on corners of the stage,- Please obey crowd safety marshals’ instructions & control your small children & animals.- NOTE: You will not be allowed to take any beer or liquor into the school premises & the closed-off

- Proceed towards the Lowveld Show Grounds in Loco Road next to the R40 – Madiba Drive inNelspruit, for the final Servicing, Results of day one & overnight Parc Ferme.

SERVICE PARK “D” & Finish Day ONE - “Lowveld Show Grounds- Nelspruit”Service “D”: 1st Car Due: 19h50 - 45 min’s Service time - See Service map “D”

- This service park is held in the arena at the Lowveld Show Grounds in Nelspruit.

- Return to Nelspruit with the R40 (Madiba Drive), take the Bosch Street off-ramp, pass underneath the R40 dual road & turn right into Loco Weg towards the Lowveld Show Grounds.

- Park & Walk over to the Show Grounds Arena, where the service area is to meet Sasol VW, Toyota, Volkswagen, Ford other rally teams to watch their service activity.

NOTE: Please do not block / obstruct the main entrance road to the Show Grounds & the road around the perimeter of the Arena – the Rally Cars needs it as an access road to the Service Park & Parc Ferme.

Overnight Parc Ferme: 1st Car Due: 20h35 - See “Parc Ferme” map - The Finish & Parc Ferme for Day One is next to the podium stage of the Lowveld Show Grounds in

Nelspruit, where the Rally Headquarters is also situated, official scoring will take place here & all the rally cars will go directly into an overnight “Parc Ferme” after re-fuelling for Day Two. (First car due @ �20h35)

- Proceed back to your home / hotel / chalet and have a good night’s rest for the early start on Saturday morning, i.e. go Straight to Ferreira Street (Spaghetti Junction) in Nelspruit for the Super Special @ 07h50 !!!

Saturday, 18th April 2015 - “Day Two - Section 3”SERVICE PARKS “E & F” - “Lowveld Show Grounds - Nelspruit”

1st Car Due: “E” = 07h11 (15 min) - 1st Car Due: “F” = 09h43 (20 min) - The service park is situated on the terrain of the Lowveld Show Grounds in Nelspruit,

- From the R40 (Madiba Drive), take the Bosch Street off-ramp, Turn into Bosch Street, pass underneath the R40 dual road & turn right into Loco Weg towards the Lowveld Show Grounds.

- Park & Walk over to the show grounds Arena, where the service area is to meet Sasol VW, Toyota, Volkswagen, Ford & other rally teams to watch their service activity.

NOTE: Please do not block / obstruct the main entrance road to the Show Grounds & the road around the perimeter of the Arena – the Rally Cars needs it as an access road to the Service Park & Parc Ferme.

- See Service Maps E & F - This service park will operate before Stage 8 & after Stage 10.

SPECIAL STAGE “8 & 10” - 1.42km - “Nelspruit - Super Special 1 & 2”SS8: 1st Car Due: SSS = 07h50, ESS = �07h51 – See “NELSPRUIT Town” & “SS 8/10” maps

SS10: 1st Car Due: SSS = 09h10, ESS = �09h11- Held in Nelspruit at the “Spaghetti Junction” in front of the Wimpy between Henshall and Ferreira streets.

- EXCELLENT Spectating - this is a “SUPER SPECIAL” spectating stage where two matched cars will run simultaneously & against each other in the stage. For the 2nd run the cars will switch lanes to even out the chances of differences between the lengths & difficulty of the 2 routes.

- There are many good viewing points along the route, with the Start / Finish at the “WIMPY” area being in great demand = “GPS 11”

- High Speed Rally cars are very dangerous, stay behind Speed Fencing & Barrier Tape,- Do Not Enter the “No-Go” red barrier taped off high danger areas,- Spectators will NOT be allowed on centre islands inside or directly on corners of the stage,- !!! Stand-up, do not sit down on the pavement edges & do not run over the roads !!!, - Please obey crowd safety marshals’ instructions & control your small children & animals.

- First car due Run 1 (SS 8) @ 07h50 and Run 2 (SS 10) @ 09h10.

- Stage (SS 9) is at the Mbombela Stadium (soccer) just west of Nelspruit is run between the 2 runs of the Super Special

- After SS 10 you can: 1. Go either to White River for SS 11 on the White River/Klipkopje gravel road OR:

2. Go to Hendriksdal for SS 12 on the way to SABIE along the road to Lydenburg (R37) [Mashishing].

SPECIAL STAGE “9” - 1.58km - “Mbombela Stadium”SS9: 1st Car Due: SSS = 08h25, ESS = �08h26 – See “NELSPRUIT Town” & “SS 9” maps

- Held just outside Nelspruit next to the grounds of the “Mbombela Stadium” (Soccer) close to the R104.

- Spectators must please use the entrance road at the HALL’s - Shell Fuel & Shopping Centre on the R104, the R104 & park opposite or inside the stadium grounds & then walk to the rear of the stadium.

- NOTE: The entrance road just after new overhead bridge from the N4 over the R104 towards the stadium is reserved for the speedy entry/exit of the rally cars.

- EXCELLENT Spectating - this is a very good spectating tar stage held behind the stadium (south-west side) in the Bus /Taxi off-loading areas & adjacent tar roads, where a large section of the stage will be visible if you spectate from inside the stadium grounds (inside the stadium fence) or from the stadium balconies. There are also many good viewing points along the route, i.e. under trees on the south side of the stage – see map SS 9 = “GPS 12”

SPECIAL STAGE “11” - 11.15km - “MTO Forestry - Springfarm”SS 11: 1st Car Due: SSS = 10h54, ESS = �11h01

- See map “SS 11” - Two spectating options available:

Stage 11 from Nelspruit:Exit Nelspruit with the R40 towards White River, just before White River turn Left towards Sabie – R537:

- ZERO odo & turn Left at Robot, towards Sabie (R537):- Start of Stage:

- � 0.7 km - Turn Right into Impala Road (White River), keep straight on (ignore side roads),- � 2.1 km - 4-Way STOP, Turn Left into Danie Joubert Street (ignore all side roads),- � 6.2 km - Straight on (Longmere Dam turn-off),- � 7.9 km - Before gravel road, turn immediately Left & park on ridge next to gravel road = “GPS 13”- GOOD Spectating from the ridge when the rally cars exits the start point at the end of the brick wall on

the right down the wide gravel road before making a 90o right �700m further on into the trees.

- � 0.7 km - Keep straight towards Sabie – R537, - � 1.8 km - Straight on (Brondal to left), - � 9.6 km - Turn Right towards Klipkopje (D1560), - � 9.8 km - Onto Gravel road - !!! Oncoming Rally Cars,- �13.6 km - Turn Right at S/P “White River” - !!! Oncoming Rally Cars,

- �15.0 km - End Stage 11 is �150m Straight Ahead, (DO NOT BLOCK THIS EXIT ROAD).

Park & walk in �600m to view the rally cars approaching fast out of the trees towards the Flying Finish on this wide gravel road = “GPS 14” - First car due @ �11h01

A typical forest stage, firstly a fairly flat, then running along the countours on both sides of a valley & over a small hillside into a fairly flat section on the edge of the forest before returning towards the

Hendriksdal area for a major spectator section next the R37, just south of the railway bridge, before running in the Rosehaugh direction to finish next to the R37 (13/8 km sign post).

SPECIAL STAGE “13” - 13.14 km - “YORK Timbers-Spitskop-Hendriksdal”SS 13: 1st Car Due: SSS = 13h58, ESS = �14h06 - See map “SS 13”- Stage 13 from Nelspruit:- Follow instruction up to End of Stage 12 (14) & continue then as follows:

- From End of stage 12 (14) continue straight on towards Hendriksdal/Sabie, i.e.:- �35.2 km - Straight on, End of SS 12 on Right, at start of trees on Right just before 13/8km S/P,- �39.4 km - Keep Straight on past start of SS 12 [14] spectating areas- �40.5 km - Keep Straight on under Railway Bridge (end of SS 12 [14] spectating area),- �41.5 km - Crossroads, Turn Right towards Hendriksdal, (8/0 km S/P on right)- �41.8 km - Railway Crossing, Straight over onto gravel road & straight through Workshop area,- �42.0 km - Fork, Keep Left,- �42.3 km - Fork RIGHT & keep Left onto Soccer Field, Park & walk �150m ahead to the Spectating

- Start of Stage: (Spectating not Recommended as it is out of the spectating flow)- The end is on a gravel road �350m west of the Hendriksdal / Witwater crossroads, 12 km from Sabie

on the R537 between Sabie & White River.- Limited Spectating if you walk-in �250m past the starting point, a fast left up-hill sweep into forest.

- Return towards Stage 14 (12) or drive directly to Nelspruit for the Finish at the Show Grounds arena.

A typical forest stage, starting close to the R537 at the Hendriksdal/Witwater crossroads, the first section with many Contours (Yumps) is winding/twisting along the natural mountain contours, the middle section mostly wide

& fast down-hill with many contours (Yumps), then northwards into a twisty forest section before returning towards Hendriksdal along a major gravel road, finishing at Hendriksdal (next to the soccer field).

- End of Stage 15: (EXCELLENT SPECTATING - Not to be Missed)- Inside the Main Arena of the Lowveld Show Grounds, proceed towards the main arena for the finish of

the rally - you can sit in the pavilions or stand at the edge all around the main arena,- The rally cars will make fast corners & sweeps inside the Arena into the Flying Finish & End of the Rally.

- First car due at the finish control @ �16h01.

FINISH OF THE RALLY- After completing stage 15 the rally cars will move into a “Parc Ferme” until the results are final.

“GPS 20”- A podium Champagne Spraying Ceremony / Prize giving for the main class winners on the

podium stage in the Arena of the Lowveld Show Grounds will take place soon thereafter, i.e. once all cars have completed this stage (if there is no major protest actions from the competitors).

- The winning cars in each class will later be moved to a scrutineering area for final specification verification.

- Please stay & join in the outdoor show festivities & have something to eat / drink at one of the many stalls.
