Term 2 Week 10 Senior Soccer Boys The senior boys had an intense, back and forth game against Mortlake Public School today. As Captain, Hadi gave the team a comprehensive warm up and all players were focused and ready as they went out onto the pitch. The game started well with HWPS up 2 goals in the first half un l Mortlake scored. Hadi came back with a strong goal taking us into the half 3-1. During second half the score changed from 3-1 to 3-3, 4-3, 4-4 then just as the final whistle blew 4-5. Unfortunately it was Mortlake with the 5 goals. There were no subs so all players were required to play hard for the full game. Tristan and Wong Wong made some great tackles. Numair impressed again with posi oning and passing. Daniel and Nathan worked hard in the midfield supported by Aryan and Noah, who both took hard hits in the second half but demonstrated courage and excellent character by ge ng up and con nuing with the task at hand. Hissham strived relessly throughout the game and came away with a goal. August did a fine job stepping up as centre back and Kabir pulled off some fantas c saves. There was no single man of the match awarded this week, all players were deserving of that honour, demonstra ng dedica on to their team and not giving up against a tough opposi on. Junior Soccer Boys Homebush West PS played against a very well drilled Mortlake PS. We struggled to contain some very experienced players and we tried hard to maintain our shape but Mortlake were able to breach our defences to take a 5 - 1 lead into the half. The second half saw some more a acking flair from Mortlake and although we succumbed to a 10 - 1 score line, Ahdrit was once again a revela on at le back, shu ng down numerous raids and Yashas made some handy saves to contain the score line. The spirit was high among the team and the effort was outstanding. Senior Girls Soccer Homebush West Vs. Summer Hill A beau ful day for soccer was upon us! As the game began our girls were smiling and eager! The senior girls were short players today so we borrowed Layla and Rhiannon from the junior A's. Layla and Rianon were absolutely amazing, you never would have thought they were juniors! There seemed to be a lot of open space during this game and we used it well. We got the ball out to our wings (Candis and Wendy) which worked as our best form of a ack! Summer Hill had some impressive individual talent. Three goals were scored in the top corners of the posts before half me. At half me there were some heads facing the ground but a er a quick team chat the Homebush West girls were determined to stop the Summer Hillians in their tracks! The second half started hard and fast. The referee gave a penalty in the box against us for a ques onable hand ball . The air was s ll, cold to the cheeks as the Summer Hill striker lined up her shot against our keeper (Jae). The striker hit the ball well and it went flying toward the goal! Then, with lightening speed, our goalie Jae responded with a jaw-dropping save against all odds! The team roared with cheers!! Fantas c to watch!!! This save from Jae did something to each of our players. A er witnessing such an unlikely save, it was their duty to defend and do the same! And that is exactly what they did. Not another point was scored. Although we did not score ourselves, we defended and kept the score at nil all for that second half despite the other team thinking that they would score another 3. Our player of the match went to Yenny as her defense was impenetrable. A gallant ba le from our Homebush West girls, your coach is so very proud! Wri en by Coach Pashley

Junior Girls Soccer A team On Friday we played against Summer Hill P.S. They were a tough team. We tried our best, but Summer Hill won 4-0. Even though we lost, we had a lot of fun playing. By Ashmita B team On Friday 30th of June we played our last soccer game for Term 2. It was a tough game compe ng against Summer Hill P.S. In the first half we were nil all. During the second half, Summer Hill scored a goal. By the end of the game we were all red, but we had great fun. The final score was 1-0. It was a great way to spend the last day of term. Next term we will try even harder. Thank you Miss Loos. By Rachel Senior Netball & Junior Netball On the last day of term 2, senior and junior A teams played against Mortlake and the B teams played Victoria Ave. The Junior A team lost 11-5 whilst the Senior A team were defeated 17-3. Both B teams won against victoria Ave, the juniors won 6-1 and the seniors won 10-2. Term 3 Week 1 Junior & Senior Boys Soccer Boys Enfield PS unfortunately forfeited which gave the senior and junior teams a chance to head to Airy Park for some training and drills with Mrs Kundrat and Mr Smith. The spectacular weather provided the perfect backdrop as the juniors and seniors each took an end of the field and got down to some hard work. A er a lunch break we mixed up the teams for an exci ng and fun game of full field ac on with Mrs Kundrat and Mr Smith joining in also. It was great to get a full field training session and it was rewarding to see the smiles on all the faces of the students on the walk back to school. Special men on goes to Hadi Margan for his comprehensive stretching and warm up program which had everyone primed and ready to go. Senior Girls Soccer On Friday the 21st of July, we played a soccer against Abbotsford Public School. This week our captain was Yenny. We had a lot of fun playing against Abbotsford even though we lost. The score was 4 - 0 (although Coach Pashley Says 1 was definitely offside). Even though they got 4 goals and we got 0, it was so exci ng to play with them! The man of the match this week went to Samica for her 100% par cipa on and hunger for the ball! Wri en by Yenny and Samica Junior Girls Soccer Junior Soccer girls A This week the junior girls soccer competed against Abbotsford Public School. We tried our hardest and fought against them un l we dropped to the ground. Abbotsford were really good and scored 1 goal in the first half and another in the second half. We didn't get upset and we kept on going. In the end they won 2-0, but it was a great game to start off the first game in Term 3. Thank you to Miss Loos. By Yeliz Junior Soccer girls B On Friday was our first game of Term 3. We played against Abbotsford Public School. They were very good. We tried our hardest, but we didn't score. In the first half Abbotsford scored a goal and in the second half no-one scored. The star player was Batol, because she always went for the ball. The final score was 1-0. By Winona
