Why Divorce rate is highin the Maldiives
One reason was the way in which a man could get
a divorce In the IslamicSharia
Another reason for thehigh divorce rate was the
lack of any social stigmaon the divorced person
negative effects onchildren. They lack love
of their parents no one toguide them means they live in streets

Comparing to other neighboring countries Maldives has fewer socialproblems.
However, due to increase of drug abuse and overcrowding in one placeled many social problems in capital male and other islands, such ashousing problems and divorce.
All other social problems are also very much related to other socialissues. For example drug abuse may cause gang violent and as a resultof over crowding to one place may cause lack of home. This result inincreasing the number of people who lives’ in street, and increase thenumber of jobless people in that particular community.
High rates of divorce led negative effects on children. These childrenalso will live in streets due to lack of love and care they receive. And thefact there is no one to guide them to the right path.
