Dear Participant,

Thank you for being part of our Canberra Region Social Impact

Summit. This event will focus on how social enterprises can deliver

innovative and sustainable solutions for economic development in

our region while also addressing the economic inclusion of individuals

who are often excluded, including migrants, refugees, Indigenous

Australians and people living with various forms of disability.

Social enterprises are businesses constituted for a specific social,

cultural, environmental or economic purpose. They can be either

not-for-profit or for-profit. They can be in any industry as long as

they are trading for the express purpose of making measurable,

attributable impact.

The Summit is also the official launch of our exciting regional grants

initiative, Capital Ideas! Our program will match social entrepreneurs

to capable local business mentors and provide up to $2,000 as a non-

repayable grant to contribute to the cost of a business case.

Capital Ideas! is an initiative of the University of Canberra funded by

the Impact Investment Ready Discovery Grant, an initiative of

Philanthropy Australia and the National Australia Bank (NAB).

Effective social enterprises are inherently local. Our commitment is to

support you to catalyse the growth and investment in for-purpose

ventures in your community.

Sincerely,

Cindy Reese Mitchell
