Free Trade Areas

The Free Trade Areas regime of the country offers benefits such as:

• A preferential 15% income tax rate.

• Import of equipment and inputs without paying customs duties.

• Purchase of inputs, capital goods or services without payment of VAT.

• Possibility of creating a single company free trade area, subject to requirements.

Nature

Cundinamarca extends over the Andes mountain range and this is why it has a wide range of climates, from

tropical plains and mid climate zones to cool highlands and moors. Biodiversity in Cundinamarca is unique with

more than 2,460 species of plants and animals. Likewise, the department has significant water reserves that supply

Bogota and the center region of Colombia. Cundinamarca is a haven for birdwatchers, orchid enthusiasts and other

nature lovers.

Tourist attractions and recreation

Cundinamarca offers a great variety of attractions, including the impressive Salt Cathedral of Zipaquira, beautiful colonial towns,

lakes and natural reserves, and warm weather resorts. The Department has a varied local cuisine, based on its rich produce.

Several villages on the outskirts of Bogota have become vibrant centers of dining and nightlife. There are countless opportunities

for hiking, mountaineering, sailing and other outdoor sports.

In addition to all this, the region has ecotourism circuits all around its sacred lakes, indigenous and colonial roads and trails, and

architectural monuments, town squares and urban sites with great historic background and cultural heritage. In Cundinamarca

you can practice extreme sports such as canoeing, rafting, paragliding, as well as cyclocross, motocross and campercross racing,

among others.
