This raffle is to help them build up a stash.

The name of this raffle is “Three Years or

May 2018 Newsletter

Pro g r am s Hello Ladies,

If you didn’t come to April’s program, you really

missed a great time. We took home so many cute things,

what a blast!!!

I would like to thank all of my committee, teachers

and everyone who participated, because without all of

you, it wouldn’t have been so spectacular. Keep up the

good work ladies!!!

In May: We have Pat Gettemeyer teaching a Cindy

Makowski desert design on a buffalo horn. Something

outside of the box, so give it a try. It’s always fun to learn

how to paint on different surfaces. And this is Pat’s first

time teaching, so let’s show our support.

If you need to order a horn, contact Pat Gettemeyer.

They are $5.50. If you need to order the stand to hold

your horn, please contact Sheila Hughes. They are $5.00.

The price of this Paint-in is $10.00.

You will have until Thursday May 3 to sign up. There

is no prep for this class. You will need the following

supplies for this paint-in, Americana Forest Green,

Yellow Light, Burnt Umber, Titanium White, Payne’s

Grey. An assortment of the following for Cactus flowers,

reds, purples, and oranges. Brushes you will need:

assortment of flats, rounds and a good detail liner.

In June: Shayron Monahan will be teaching a Barb

Halvorson baby swan design. (See page one for a photo of

the project.) Shayron’s specialty is animals, so taking this

class would be a treat if you want to learn how to do fur

or feathers.

You must supply your own surface for this

Workshop. The cost of this workshop is $15.00.

If you have any questions please feel free to contact

me.

Thank you,

Cathy Frazier

Hospitality

Thanks to all who made our April meeting

very hospitable. Desserts were delightful.

Please contact me if you would like to bring

something for May’s meeting. Our chapter is

a wonderful caring and sharing place to

enjoy the joy of painting.

See you next month.

The Shara Reiner P ro ject : June 22 & 23

Our June seminar with Shara Riener is just around

the corner, and I’m happy to say we have filled up our

spaces, plus a bit more!

The hard-working Seminar Committee is going to

be busy getting all the details and fun stuff ready over the

next several weeks. We also have some surprises to share

with you during the “day of”! Not only are we going to

have fun painting, but we are going to have fun having

fun!!

If you are looking for a surface - look no more!

Contact Sheila Hughes to order the beautiful box with

fancy tray her husband, Mike, designed for this seminar.

To see the box, and the sample box Shara sent, please

visit the SSTDP website: https://sstdp.org/seminars/.

Each of you who signed up have your packets. They

are copyrighted, so please respect that. Also, Deco Art is

supplying the paint for Shara’s seminar! So, all you need

is the prep paints, and you can choose what you like. I’m

thinking Midnight Blue for the basecoat - because, for

some reason, I’ve got four bottles! lol

Last, but not least…Guess who’s coming to town?

Yes, Santa Claus, but that’s not what I mean. It’s

Rosemary West!!! She has agreed to bring us our Fall

Seminar in 2020. I can’t wait to see what she will be

offering.

If one of you get to be the Seminar Chairperson

next year, you and your Committee will get to choose the

project!

I’m so looking forward to our June Seminar with

Shara! Then, we will be talking Mark Menendez! I hope

you are considering his seminar if you haven’t already

signed up. To learn his techniques, and have them in your

arsenal of talents is more than just getting to attend his

seminar. They will be with you to apply to your own art

for the rest of your life. I know I’m preaching to the choir,

but had to say it.

I know there are some of us who have aches and

pains in our hands, but we could take what we learn and

have fun with it in short bits and pieces as we are able.

(You know who you are…;-). And if you aren’t there, you

are going to be greatly missed!

Happy Prepping!

Thank you to everyone who came to my home

for the meetings this month. We have a good start on

some of the cute favors planned for the party.

Next month I do not know when we will meet,

but I will let you know through email messages

exactly soon.

My hubby and I are hoping to do a little get-

away, but we haven't got the details planned yet. It

has been a long time since we had a vacation

together. So please keep checking your mail for a

note from me. And if you have any "homework,” (you

know who you are) please keep those brushes movin'

and grovin'.

If you have any questions, please send me a

text or email. My new email in the directory goes

right to my phone.

Pat Gettemeyer recently

received a pacemaker and is

recovering nicely. To quote

Pat, “Life is good and I can

move around pretty well

without hurting so

much.” (Now that the staples

have been removed that is!)

Rocky Teel is steadily

improving after her

surgery. She is having physical

therapy and is still on oxygen,

but just long enough to get

accustomed to her lung being

re-expanded. All are pleased

with her progress and we wish

Rocky a quick and complete

recovery.

Congratulations to Sandy

Happy May!!

This year is moving right along. I would like to

thank Cathy, Gwen, and Anita for teaching us such

adorable projects last month. I don't know about you

ladies, but I adored each project.

I would also like to welcome 2 new members to our

chapter. Please welcome back Kathi Lockhart to chapter.

We also have newcomer Carol Manhart joining us from

California. Ladies, we are so happy to have you in this

great group of painters here at SSTDP!

Everyone should have received their directories. If

you have not, please see me. I forgot to hand out tickets

for those of you wearing your name tags last month, but I

did enter those who were wearing them in. Please wear

those name badges for your entry to win.

I look forward to seeing everyone at May's meeting!

Happy Birthday

W ay s & Mea n s

Hello Ladies,

So good to be back to work as your Ways &

Means chairperson. You all certainly welcomed me

back with great sales of raffle tickets & books donated

by Sharon Shuster. We collected $111.09!—don’t know

how the .09 cents figured in but every penny counts.

Thank you!

Sue Crump has been the only one to sign up to

bring a raffle prize in May, so if any of you would like

to donate something, please let me know.

As a reminder, you can bring almost anything as

a raffle prize, gift certificates, baked goods, painted or

unpainted items or some other clever item. Cash is the

only thing on our “do not donate” list.

Happy painting! Thanks.
