1. General characteristics

• Totally clampable SALTO 4208 turn system available in 5 different base sets of which 3 sets are operated by a handle with 2 forks (series 4200) and 2 sets which are operated by a handle with 1 fork (series 4000).

• The SALTO 4208 system can also be used for windows higher and/or wider than 1200 mm providing that the following centre locking sets are used:1. Handles with 2 forks series 4200

- n° 4208-30 for vent height = 1200-1800 mm - n° 4008-31 for vent height = 1800-2400 mm - n° 4208-35 for vent width = 1200-1700 mm

2. Handles with 1 fork series 4000 - n° 4008-184 for vent height = 1200-1800 mm - n° 4008-31N for vent height = 1800-2400 mm - n° 4208-35 for vent width = 1200-1700 mm

• The side hung open in windows can be provided with the following hinges: - 2-part hinges n° 4208-220 and -221: max. vent weight 75 kg, max. vent width 1000 mm - 3-part hinges n° 4208-320 and -321: max. vent weight 80 kg, max. vent width 1200 mm - bottom hinge n° 26140-760 + top hinge n° 26140-750:

- same appearance as the turn-tilt hinges - max. vent weight 90 kg, max. vent width 1400 mm

- bottom hinge n° 35140-760 + top hinge n° 26140-751: - both hinges have horizontal adjustment - the bottom hinge has vertical adjustment - same appearance as the turn-tilt hinges - max. vent weight 90 kg (up to 130 kg provided that the additional reinforcement set n° 35140-790 is used), max. vent width 1700 mm

• All handles with 1 fork can also be used for the turn-tilt system SALTO 4008 and all handles with 2 forks have the same shape as the turn-tilt system. Therefore side hung open in, turn-tilt and tilt-turn windows can be used next to one another with the advantage of having the same appearance.

• Very quick assembly: - totally clampable system - pre-assembled components and screws - easy access to fixing and adjustment screws

• All parts are made of non-corroding materials.

• Size range: - vent width: 400-1700 mm. - vent height: 400-2400 mm. - vent weight: max. 75 kg or 80 kg or 90 kg or 130 kg dependent on which hinges are used.

• Special dimensions on request!

• The SALTO system has been tested in accordance with following standards: - Belgian standard STS 52.0 for windows 50 m or more above the ground.

- German standard RAL-RG 607/3 : Class F130-9 - Polish standard

• One system suitable for profiles with frame groove width from 10 to 14 mm. See table.

4. Vertical centre locking sets n° 4208-30 and 4008-31• To be used with base sets n° 4208-50, 4208-51 and 4208-52.

5. Vertical centre locking sets n° 4008-184 and 4008-31N• To be used with base sets n° 4208-53 and 4208-54.

Vent height Fh = 1200-1800 mm

• Windows with vent height from 1200 to 1800 mm require an additional keep n° 4008-184.

• The keep n° 4008-184 can be used with base sets n° 4208-53 and -54.


Vent height Fh = 1800-2400 mm

• Windows with vent height from 1800 to 2400 mm require a centre locking set n° 4008-31N.

• The centre locking set n° 4008-31N can be used with base sets n° 4208-53 and -54.

6. Horizontal centre locking set n° 4208-35Vent width Fb = 1200-1700 mm


• Windows with vent width from 1200 to 1700 mm require a centre locking set n° 4208-35.

• A horizontal centre locking set is not possible with base sets n° 4208-50, -52 and -54.

7. Special accessories7.1. Reinforcement set n° 35140-790

• For windows with vent weight between 90 kg and 130 kg and with Fb > 1400 mm the reinforcement set n° 35140-790 must be used to reinforce the top hinge.

• The M4x10 thread forming screws must fix into at least 6 mm of aluminium.

• Drilling jig n° 35000-955 is available for drilling the holes.

• Note: The reinforcement set can only be used in combination with the adjustable hinge n° 26140-751.

7.2. Window stay n° 35140-901, -902 or -903

• The window stay restricts the opening angle of the window in turn position.

• The window stay should be used for safety purposes or where the opening arc may be obstructed.

• The position of the stay will dictate the opening angle of the window.

• The window stay is detachable by turning rivet R with a 4 mm hexagon key.

• The window stay has integral friction adjusted by turning the screw S. The stay can hold the vent in any turn position.

• Dimension X restricts the opening angle at ± 90°.

7.3. Run on rest n° 4000-303

• The run on rest n° 4000-303 is recommended to reduce the pressure on the hinges in closed position.

• It is used in combination with keep n° 4008-182.

• The run on rest n° 4000-303 should not be ordered separately when using base set n° 4208-50 or with windows with a horizontal centre locking set because it is included in these sets.

• The run on rest is simply pushed into the rod groove of the vent section.

7.4. Drive pin n° 907-230

• For windows with vent height from 300 to 400 mm drive pin n° 907-230 must be ordered in addition.

• This is only suitable for windows operated by a handle with 1 fork.

• These windows require one single connecting rod between the top and bottom bolt n° 4200-321 (set n° 4208-53) or between the top and bottom locking point n° 4000-334 (set n° 4208-54).

• The rod is cut and drilled as shown.

• The n° 907-230 drive pin is riveted into the ø6.1 mm hole and acts as the drive for the handles with 1 fork.

8. Hinges• The hinges have the same shape as the turn-tilt hinges. Both turn-tilt windows and side hung open in

windows can be placed next to one another with the advantage of having the same appearance.

10. Lockcase n° 4000-208-1

• The lock can be used with base sets n° 4208-53 and -54.

• Lockcase n° 4000-208-1, operated by a handle with square spindle of 7 mm.

• The lock can also be operated by the Sobinox handles in stainless steel. See chapter C11.15.

• The lockcase is made entirely of non-corroding materials.

12. General information• The handle height should not be less than 1/3 of the vent height. Technical advise should be sought when

the sizes of your window are not shown in the chart.

• In schools and in other places where safety is important, we advise the use of a window stay n° 35140-901, -902, -903 and a handle with cylinder.

• The SALTO 4208 system is made of non-corroding materials. The set should not be installed in corrosive atmospheres.

• Sobinco cannot be held responsible for the malfunctioning of the SALTO 4208 system if any non-Sobinco parts are used.

• Surface treatment of vent and frame must take place before assembly of the set, as this will affect the working of the gear.

• Glazing must be in accordance with national standards.

• The window and gear should be kept clean and lubricated in accordance with our maintenance instructions (copy available on request).
