Transcript of Sicarius questionnaire feedback

We decided to include this question in the new survey as we didn’t have any questions in the first survey that allowed us to get an idea of who the people where taking the survey, although we sent it out ourselves so knew vaguely the statistics in terms of age of our participants, having this question is helpful in terms of determining our audience and the age of those responding to our questions is something that will be useful to know in terms of the responses we get to other questions.

As you can see the majority of those taking our survey are 15-19 (teenagers)

We also added in this new question as we thought again it would be useful in determining our target audience.

As you can see the general response suggested that people thought teenagers/young people where most likely to enjoy the genre horror-thriller. This is helpful information as it suggests we should implement things into our film that would attract people of this age group throughout the production process, as well as when it comes to marketing our film.

As you can see the responses we got in regard to the name we had chosen for the film where generally positive, with only 2 people disliking the name ‘sicarius’

We also received one response in the ‘other’ box, from someone who let us know there was already a film out called ‘sicario’ this is something that we where unaware of during the time we came up with the name.

As you can see the majority of responses we got for this question thought suspense was the most important feature to establish during the opening of a thriller film. This matched up with our previous set of data, and is good as we feel that our opening will create a lot of suspense as we don’t give away much storyline (what people where least in favour of establishing) , we also have the mystery of why one data is circled on the calendar. Generating character profiles is also something that we plan to do subtly within our opening through the use of costume and mise en scene.

The majority of people we asked thought that having a masked killer would be more interesting. This is helpful for us to know as we had our hearts set on having the killer masked, as it would be a feature that adds a lot of suspense to the opening.

The majority of people liked the idea of having flashbacks rather than current footage. This is again a useful and positive statistic for our film as had we continued the piece it would've been based on piecing together the story of our murderer in retrospect after he had been caught.

From this data as the majority where in favour of implying murders rather than showing them to an audience of 12+ we decided that we would not actually show any footage of murders but rather we would suggest them, as we had 2 votes saying it would be unsuitable and 5 saying it would be fine to show them we had quite a mixed array of results, because of this we decided to rate our film 12 as the general consensus was in favour of this rating.
