Recap of our trip!
Where was our internship?
Onishi, Japan
What is an Artist Residency?
● An artist residency is a 6-7 week program where an artist works on their
craft and participates in different workshops.
● The end goal is to put on an exhibition highlighting what the artists have
worked on and typically all the art work shows influences from their
stay & the different workshops they participated in
● We arrived during the exhibition week of one group of artists, giving us
great insight on what we were working towards with the next group.
● More ideas to help expand and improve the program
Workshops we participated in!
Zen Meditation
Workshop where we
learned about buddhist
monks & the concept
of nothingness with it’s
relation to the moon
History of the tea
ceremony
Elementary Workshop
where we participated
in painting and
drawing with the kids.
This is one of the few
times that they were
able to use their
imagination in school.
Dancing
Workshop where
one of the artists
showed us how
much of dancing
involves not being
afraid to take up
space.
Tofu Workshop where we
had the opportunity to go
to a Tofu Factory and see
the procedure to making
Tofu, and we even had
the chance to make our
own!

How this Internship will help
us in the Future
● This internship was essentially a creative collaboration environment in
which we got to learn not only from the staff, but from the participating
artists
● We learned firsthand, the importance of relationships in terms of the
business world and in the community.
● We noticed the correlation between internal business operations and
marketing, seeing how they align.
People we came across along
the way!
