A letter from our President, Diana Clayton

Dear Shasta Miners and Prospectors: I have been President since 2010. June has al-

ways been a hard month because of all the activi-

ties. This June, coincidently, all of our directors,

officers and chairs have commitments to family,

vacations, work and health which fall on the meet-

ing date. I hope everyone understands the reasons

for cancelling the June meeting. July 21, 2016

we meet as usual. I hope everyone is enjoying

their summer and are able to get out and search

for treasures. . Be sure to check our display at the Shasta County Fair.

HELLO FELLOW MINERS,

I hope everyone is successful at staying cool in this

hot weather. The Shasta district fair is HERE – so if

you have time and are willing to volunteer –please

get ahold of James Stevens as he is now our chairperson. His

numbers are home -530-347-1679 or cell 530-945-3401. The fair

is being held June 15th thru June 18th. He will be needing a lot of

help as most of the officers will be out of town during that time.

Hoping that all our dad’s in the club have a great dad’s day. Re-

minder that the last weekend in July is our annual outing – loca-

tion will be Douglas city campground – there will probably be a

nightly space charge. I am looking to this event as we always have lots of fun, fun, fun!!! Our annual picnic is to be held on August

20th. It is always lots of fun and games for the whole family. Due to circumstances beyond our control – THERE WILL NOT BE A

JUNE MEETING!!! So I hope to see everyone at the July 21st meeting.

Guided Metal Detector Outings: Guided metal detecting outing usually occur on the Second Sat. morning after our

regular scheduled meeting. The location of the hunt is announced at the general meeting. If you are unable to attend the meeting please contact Bill Doyle, Metal Detecting Chair. Email: [email protected] or call (530) -549 -3039

Guided Claims Outings: Guided Claims outings are scheduled the first Sat. following the general meeting. For more information contact Michael Abernathy, Claims Chair. Email: [email protected] or call 530) 638-6717

We have nice hoodies, t-Shirts, tank tops, hats, and iron-on emblems. These items are on display and are for purchase at each general meeting.

May Metal Detecting Outings

The May Outing was held at West Cottonwood School. Those in attendance were Val

Smalley, Don Hecmeyer, Robert Graff and Me. We all got coinage; however the hits were

sparse.

Later in the day Val Smalley, Robert Graff, Susan Doyle and I went to West Valley High

School where the annual Strawberry Festival was ending. We all got a few coins and Robert

Graff recovered a beautiful silver neckless.

The June Outing will be held at North Cottonwood School, located at 19920 Gas Point Road.

We will meet in the parking lot at 9:00 am on Saturday, June 25th.

Make sure to mark you calendars for the July Outing at the Redding Convention Center fol-

lowing the fireworks display on the Fourth of July. For those of you that have not experienced

a night hunt, come join in the fun.
