Week 1 A Term 2 2020
WELCOME BACK TO TERM 2
I hope you had a good break and enjoyed the time with your family.
Monday 27 April and tomorrow, Tuesday 28 April are pupil-free School Development Days to support staff with additional planning and professional learning with the new mode of delivery in teaching and learning.
The Remote Learning mode will re-commence from Wednesday, 29 April similar to the end of last term for Years 7-11 for Weeks 1 and 2. A reminder the school is open and will remain open for those parents working in the health system, education system, emergency services and for other essential service workers who need their children to be supervised at the school site during the school day.
Year 12 has received their timetable (attached) for Weeks 1 and 2 commencing Wednesday, 29 April 2020. This model allows our Year 12 students to receive their Mid Year examination feedback and catch up with their teachers on Term 1 learning material. These face-to-face 2 hour sessions is the priority over Weeks 1 & 2. Students must continue with their learning on online platforms when they are not attending the face-to-face sessions.
On Monday, 11 May, we will move into Phase One of the managed return to school plan where students will attend school one day per week and learn remotely 4 days per week.
This week, I will consult with the executive team and staff to finalise the structure for Strathfield Girls High School’s Phase One managed return for our students.
I will communicate the structure at the end of the week to inform all members of the community how the school will operate from Monday, 11 May in supporting each year with the transition of one day per week of face to face learning.
The school will continue to communicate via email at various times and through the school’s website. Please ensure that all your contact details are current to ensure effective communication between the home and school. To update your details, please email [email protected].
I would like to thank my dedicated team of professional staff who have worked beyond expectation to move onto online platforms and continue to track, monitor and ensure that all their students were engaging with their learning. I am confident that staff will continue to engage and monitor all students this term.
Thank you for your ongoing support as the health and safety of our students and staff is of paramount importance and our priority. Please continue to check our website for updates.
Looking forward to another great term where we can work together to support our girls in their continuity of learning.
