FEATURES AND APPLICATIONS

Meridian supply multi-wall polycarbonate sheets whichare UV protected (co-extrusion) on one side andcombines the following features:

High impact resistance. 10 Year limited warranty. Remarkable insulation. Excellent structural properties. Excellent light transmission (up to 80%). Solar Control option Wide service temperature range (-40oC to +120oC) Good fire resistance with no emission of toxic gases. High architectural versatility.

PROPERTITIES

FlammabilityThe sheets are self extinguishing and comply with themost demanding of international fire resistancestandards.

Thermal InsulationThe excellent thermal insulation results from the aircells inside the hollow structure of the sheet. It has amuch higher insulating ability than single walled,corrugated or solid flat sheet. It offers low heat loss (orgain), and therefore higher efficiency. The ‘U’ value is anumber which measures the quality of thermalinsulation. Lower values for a material mean superiorthermal insulation.

STORAGE & HANDLING

Sheets are supplied with a protective polypropylene film onboth sides. The sheets must be stored under cover with theprotective film left in place. When protected with the film,the sheets should not be left exposed to sunlight for anylength of time, as the sun’s warmth can be magnified as itpasses through the stack causing excessive temperatures anda risk of the film adhering to the sheet. Care must be takenwhen handling sheets due to sharp edges.

CUTTINGThe polycarbonate sheets can be cut using either a handsaw,jigsaw or band saw. When using a portable or fixed circularsaw, protective eyewear and gloves must be worn. It is rec-ommended that a fine toothed high-speed steel saw blade beused. An allowance of 4mm on all sides should be madearound any item positioned through the sheet to allow forthermal movement.

Extruded from highquality UPVC this range offers an integrated water management system toshed water to the outside of the rooflight. They are manufactured from UVprotected Polycarbonate in a choice of profiles such as Domes and Pyramids.Polycarbonate offers high impact resistance as well as a variety of glazingoptions in either clear, opal, diffused or bronze tinted.

TRADE RANGE -AVAILABLE IN 4 WORKING DAYSOur Trade Range of rooflights are available in either double or triple skinconstruction which helps to increase thermal and noise insulation as well asreducing the possibility of condensation. Designed to be installed at thefinished roof level it is therefore the ideal choice for retro fitting to an existingflat roof. The range offers a variety of different options. TRADE RANGE DOMESBelow is a selection of our TRADE RANGE DOMES. Prices quoted include Up-stand (Kerb) and are for clear and diffused skins. Bronze and Opal skins are avail-able at 2.5% extra.

Unvented Domes are fixed Rooflight and Upstand (Kerb) with no ventilation, usedfor areas that require natural light only.

Hit & Miss Vents offer manually operated ventilation via a sliding mechanism mounted internally to the upstand (kerb). Thevents are opened and closed by hand or by pole. Ideally used for areas that do not require a high volume of ventilation.

If you require a higher level of ventilation please enquire into our Wormgear opening domes that can be opened with a brasstelescopic winding mechanism to approximately 300mm.

CORRUGATED PVC SHEETSMETHOD OF FIXING

Use metalworking bits for drilling &fine tooth saws, held at a low angle tothe sheet, for cutting. Sawing is easierat room temperature.

Holes must be drilled not punched.The holes must be at least 3mm largerthan the bolt or screw to allow forexpansion. A plastic or felt washermust be used to provide cushioningand sealing.

Roof sheets should be fixed throughtheir crowns.

Flashings must be used on all wallabutments.

Use foam fillers to support the profileand to prevent dirt blowing under theeaves.

GUTTA CORRUGATED BITUMEN SHEETS

TECHNICAL INFORMATION

Watertight Freeze Proof Base Material: special cardboard blank consisting of 100%

recycled material, a sandwich construction similar to theplywood.

Non poisonous, asbestos-free, organic fibrous material. Gutta sheets are completely impregnated with non harmful,

trade-marked bitumen, with a colour impregnation thatfirmly adheres to the base material, thus ensuring a long-standing colour stability.

The corrugated bitumen sheets are classified as buildingmaterial class B2 (normally inflammable) as per DIN4102.

The colour will uniformly grow lighter in the first weeksafter laying. This is a normal process that rapidly stabilises.

Gutta corrugated bitumen sheets are sturdy, economic building materials and suitable for roof angles of between 70 - 850 . Due to their large dimensions, light weight, highelasticity, resistance to water and aggressive vapours and caustic solution, they are eminently suitable for agricultural and industrial structures. They are equally useful forprivate construction purposes, e.g. as roofing for garden sheds or holiday chalets, as a wind-breaker or screens or even as panelling for carports. These sheets can be cut witha hand saw, secured with Gutta nails and can easily be handled by one person. This means they are ideal for do-it-yourself enthusiasts.

INSTALLATION

Gutta Boards are lightweight boards.. To access the roof walking / crawling boards mustalways be used, and then only in the area of the supporting beams.

Spacing of the sub-structure is selected in accordance with the angle of the roof pitch and may not exceed600mm. The boards are installed to face the main direction of exposure from gable to gable and from theeaves to the ridge, staggered by a half-board width (see diagram above). Align the boards at right-angles tothe roof surface and secure. Once the board is correctly positioned, secure with nails on every thirdcorrugation; in the ridge area, and on every corrugation at overlaps and connecting elements such as gableangles or ridge covers nails should be applied at every corrugation.

The self-sealing Gutta nails are driven vertically through the board. Caution: ensure that plastic head of thenail presses against the board but does not deform it.

Cross lapping is usually carried out over 1 corrugation. We recommend a cross lapping of two corrugationsat the gable edges or areas exposed to extreme weather conditions. The longitude overlap should be at least140mm. Longitude overlapping must always be carried out above the supporting beams. To ensure that theboards are firmly secured, nail at each single corrugation. The boards finish approx 50mm below the ridgecentre line and have sufficient cover from the ridge cover. The ‘gaps’ resulting from the distance betweencorrugation ‘valleys’ and the contact surface ensure that the roof surface is well ventilated. If this’mandatory ventilation system’ is plugged with foam profiles, additional ventilation elements must beinstalled. Please pay particular attention to cross and longitudinal lapping when installing these elements.

EASYGLAZE DOUBLE GLAZING

The EASYGLAZE double glazing system comprises two rigid PVC sections: abase section and a cover strip. It is available in 8 foot lengths in white only. Alength of mitre beading is also supplied to assist you in cutting neat and accuratecorners. Easyglaze is fixed to the frame by self-adhesive tape which is found onthe underside of the base section. We DO NOT recommend the use of glass withthis product. It has been designed for using only with acrylic or styrene sheeting ofa 2.5mm minimum thickness.

The EASYGLAZE system is for internal use only, fixing directly to the frame formaximum insulation and draught proofing. Ensure there is at least 15mm of flatmounting surface around each side of the glazing to take the adhesive section.

SUPERGLAZE DOUBLE GLAZING

This consists of a rigid PVC moulding to edge the glazing material. It is to bemitred at the corners and then fixed to the frame with woodscrews, which are thenconcealed using the cover strip. This gives it a neat, unobtrusive appearance.SUPERGLAZE is sold in packs each containing two lengths of moulding andcover strip, fixing screws and easy to follow fixing instructions.The SUPERGLAZE secondary pane may be fixed either to the opening windowlights to allow ventilation and use of the windows, or to the main frame formaximum insulation and draught proofing. INSTALLATION FEATURES

Wrap around retaining clip on all gutter fittings allow a fast positive joint to be made.Clips are easily removed should any adjustment be required during installation. Italso facilitates dismantling and re-assembly of the gutter system during any period ofproperty maintenance.

Extra wide seals designed to eliminate the ‘roll-over’ effect from gutter movementcaused by thermal expansion and contraction thus preventing any possibility ofleakage.

All gutter fittings have positioning guide marks to allow for thermal expansion andcontraction.

Running and stopend outlets have twin fixing holes and fascia brackets offer a choiceof single screw or twin screw fixing.

Hoppers, stopend and running outlets are designed to accept sockets or plain-endeddownpipe.

INSTALLATIONKestrel PVC-UE profiles, whether white, coloured orfoiled, should not be installed in extremes of temperature.Surface temperature should not exceed 50oC. If this isunavoidable the additional allowances should be made forthermal movement both in the type of fixing and sizes ofjoint movement. Where used externally all exposed cutends should be sealed with silicone sealant along thesection. Profiles fixed in place by adhesive should generallybe fixed with low modulus silicone.

Products such as cladding or fascia and soffit in exposedlocations should be restrained by stainless steel fixing ofappropriate specification.

It is absolutely essential to ensurethat substrates are structurallysound prior to fixing.

DeliveryMeridian Building Plastics can deliver to any UK address, but deliveries to Channel Islands, Isle of Man, Isle of Wight, Scottish Highlands or Scottish Isles will incuradditional charges. Should the delivery address be different to the billing address, both addresses must be present on the order. We do not deliver to Post Office (P.O.)boxes or shipping agent addresses.All deliveries (except small postal items) must be signed for unless you give us permission in writing to leave the goods. But please note that if you give Meridianpermission to leave the goods unsigned for, all responsibility for the goods transfers to the customer once the goods have left our premises and that any shortages ordamages can not be claimed for.All delivery timescales are subject to product and delivery slot availability, small parcels may be delivered by Royal Mail. DamagesDamages - In the event you should receive your goods damaged it is your responsibility to notify us within 48 hours of receipt and to ensure that any delivery notes orcarrier paperwork has been signed 'Damaged' accordingly. Signing for goods as 'Unchecked' or similar does not cover the delivery against damage. We will arrangereplacement items for you when we have received the damaged goods back into stock and they have been checked.

ShortagesAt the time of delivery please thoroughly check to ensure all items have been received. Should any items/parcels be missing please record this on the carriers delivery/consignment note at the time of delivery. Signing for goods as 'Unchecked' or similar does not cover the delivery against short supply. Please notify us immediately sothat we can take action to find or replace the missing items.

RiskAs soon as the product(s) have been delivered to your door you, the customer, are responsible for said goods. We will only deliver goods to the address on the orderand goods will usually not be left without a signature.
