This is a vibrant life that is filled with exciting new ways of being together. One of these is our Religious Education program. The next 9 months there will be various ways that ALL ages will be able to participate in learning and spiritual growth. In order to provide time and space for this growth we are changing worship time to 11 am and having classes at 10 am. The children under 5 th grade will have a regular Sunday school program filled with bible lessons, arts & crafts, and other age appropriate activities. Our middle school aged students will be going through confirmation class. The high school students will be sharing a devotional together. The adults will have a variety of 4 to 6 week programs. These will vary in topics and be focused on gaining knowledge about self, community, and God. The adult program this coming September will be a group project. Together the group will explore the history and artifacts of our beloved Wright Church. The sanctuary and grounds are filled with markers celebrating different people who have been a part of Wright. The goals of the project will be to get to know each other better, and to learn more about our church’s rich tradition. Please let me know if you are interested in this or any other future programs. vibrant life that is filled with exciting new ways of being together. One of these is our Religious

Education program. The next 9 months there will be various ways that ALL ages will be able to

participate in learning and spiritual growth. In order to provide time and space for this growth we are

changing worship time to 11 am and having classes at 10 am. The children under 5th

grade will have a

regular Sunday school program filled with bible lessons, arts & crafts, and other age appropriate activities.

Our middle school aged students will be going through confirmation class. The high school students will

The adult program this coming September will be a group project. Together the group will explore

the history and artifacts of our beloved Wright Church. The sanctuary and grounds are filled with markers

Board Chairman's Report The board was fortunate to have Darcy James for IIRAH (Idaho Interfaith

Roundtable Against Hunger) attend our board meeting. IIRAH provides a forum for organizations of faith and goodwill, who come together to understand root causes of hunger, educate others, and advocate for sound poliy to end hunder in Idaho. Darcy answered numerous questions of the board and provided us with a lot of important information on this subject. The board decided and approved that Wright become an endorser of this organization along with a number of other churches in this important cause. We will decide on a church member to represent our church in the next month. If you are interesed, let Drew or Robin know.

Janice gave a devotional on balancing the budget for churches from a passage from John 6:3-5. Jesus and his apostles where in need to feed the masses and no recources to do so. It seems Jesus and the disciples did not pay much attention to the food line in the first church's budget. Sometimes we need to give gratitude for what we have already, and turn our hearts away from worshipping bottom lines. Let us turn celebration of the abundance that comes from God.

Drew will be going to our conference meeting in September in Pendleton, OR. If you are interested in going, please let Drew know. Last but not least the church received funds from the Ruby Oliason estate. Thanks again to Clay Shockley for the legal representation he provided to the church.

Yours in faith Chuck Pond, Board Chairman

Pilgrim Cove Camp needs our help.

Maybe you can help in one of the following ways. Susan Busche has been doing a fabulous job as Interim Camp Manager with help from some local young people. However they are returning to school and now Susan is faced with doing it all with only Chef Lu to assist with the cooking. She could really use some assistance in the kitchen with set up and clean up. Also help is needed in cleaning the cabins and the outside recreation areas. If you have a few days that you could donate to the camp there are campers scheduled for the following week-ends – 9/5 – 9/7, 9/12 – 9/14, 9/19 - 9/21, and 10/3 - 10/5. If you can help please call Susan at 634-5555. She has been managing the camp since May without pay and she could really use our help.

The camp will be closing down for the winter. There will be two weekends available to help winterize the camp and put it to bed for the winter. October 12 will be pulling the watercraft out of the lake, and cleaning out the bunk houses. October 17 will be devoted to felling a number of trees that must go. So any lumberjacks that would like to join the fun please sign up. Al Busche and Paul Barna will be heading up these two week-ends.

The camp is also in need of some pictures for the walls in the cabins. Any kind of pictures or posters to dress them up would work. The camp also needs to replace heaters in Leahy Lodge. There are two that need to be replaced for sure at $800.00 - $1000.00 each. Hopefully the other two can be repaired, but may also need to be replaced.

The Suntracker pontoon boat is for sale. It is a 24’,18 passenger with 70 horse power Merc engine and trailer. It has been sitting in our parking lot while we located the title and now you can have this fun party boat for $7500. Finally a bit of hopeful news. Craig Curtis, a former member of Wright Church has been in McCall this summer and coming out to the camp and making repairs as needed. He is looking into obtaining some of the camp property. He is wanting a strip of land starting at the lake, going up the North side of the camp, next to Shady Beach to build some high end homes on. For this he will pay off our $1,000,000.00 debt, put in new docks (desperately needed), a new deep water system (that will go thru McCall’s winter), and a new road from the lodge to the lake. Of course this all depends on getting the necessary permits from the city of McCall and although it is slow going he hopes to have some more positive answers by November. This is not a done deal, but it could be an answer to our financial woes if it goes through and is approved. If you have any questions about any of these items please contact Susan Busche at the camp, Al Busche or myself. Janice Aagaard, BOD

High Horizons announces new affordable housing in Nampa! High Horizons would like to invite our church members to attend an Open House

at the Maryland Village property in Nampa. It will be Saturday, September 13

from 1 – 4 pm. You will have the opportunity to tour the facilities and meet some of

the tenants. The address is 1737 Sunnyridge Road, Nampa, ID. If you plan to

attend the Open House or help with the festivities, please contact Janice Aagaard

at 887-3854 or [email protected]. We look forward to seeing you!! For your information the following is a little

background information on High Horizons.

High Horizons was formed by the Idaho

Association of Churches in 1963 as a non-

profit corporation. Its purpose was to

provide housing for low and moderate

income families as well as elderly and or

handicapped persons. A complex was

immediately built in Boise and it was called

Riverview Homes.

The complex fell into disrepair and after

much research in 2008, the Board hired a

management company called Tomlinson and

Associates to oversee the daily operations.

Tomlinson manages many low income

housing units around the state and they were

able to give us the much needed

understanding and expertise in finding

methods to finance and renovate. Per their

recommendation, we formed a new Limited

Liability company called Riverview LLC.

Riverview LLC is a partnership between

High Horizons and Boise Housing

Corporation. The newly formed LLC then

applied for tax credits, which were sold to

raise funds for the renovation.

High Horizons was able to renovate the

existing Riverview Homes and retain 50%

ownership once the tax credit partner exits

in 15 years. We also have funds available

from the sale of Riverview Homes to the

new LLC.

With our continuing partnership with Boise

Housing, High Horizons has now purchased

two new projects located in Nampa, directly

behind the hospital. Maryland Village is an

80 unit senior living unit with 1 and 2

bedroom units and Parkwood is a 48 unit

family and senior project with 1, 2 and 3

bedroom units. With these two new

properties, we now have 168 units that

provide housing in the Treasure Valley.

The current High Horizon Board Members

are Jack Wenske and Janice Aagaard from

Wright, Martha Emery and Stan Cole from

Boise First, and Chi Morgan and Harv

Haskell from Nampa.
