The Syrian Expatriates Medical Association is a non-profitable licensed in Turkey, France and Britain medical relief organization.

The Association aims to provide medical services at all levels from initial health care and support field hospital up to the

development of health services by training medical staffs and spreading the medical awareness to upgrade the medical

situation in the area.

The Association is distinguished by its strategic projects such as the National Syrian Project for artificial limbs (prosthetics)

in partnership with several other organizations. Also, its uniqueness for its project of maintaining medical devices

carried out by its engineering medical office gives it superiority.

The monthly Bulletin aims to highlight the achievements and the projects sponsored by the Association and provide clear data for the followers about the workload in these projects via various statistics.

In addition, it aims to cover the events and activities in which the Association participates in detailed reports on the activities of the Training and Educational Department as well as the courses hosted by the Association.

Also, it provides brief reports on the number of the medical devices repaired or maintained by the Engineering Office.

The Association offers many primary care services through the centers it supports around most provinces inside Syria and in neighboring countries. In addition, we present below some statistics to represent the workload of five primary health care centers with laboratory tests, as well as the tests done in the central laboratory in Damascus Ghouta.

The Specialist Gynecology and Pediatrics Hospital opening in Hama countryside

This hospital covers the northern and the northwestern countryside of Hama and part of the southern countryside of Edlib, where the number of beneficiaries reaches about 120,000 displaced and hosted people.

Work in the hospital started with all its departments on 01/01/2015 with the support and supervision of the Syrian Expatriates Medical Association.

The hospital has the following departments:

The Specialist Gynecology and Pediatrics Hospital Open in Hama

It is characterized as the first Specialist Hospital in the region that offers all medical services for women, children and neonates.

All gynecologic operations, cesarean deliveries and other medical services for women are performed in the Gynecology Department.

The neonate care unit is characterized by distinguished medical care offered to the premature infants and neonates from primary health care services up to the admission in the neonate care unit as well as providing medical services such as phototherapy, performing laboratory tests, lumber puncture and other complex procedures in addition to the availability of respirators.

The Association secured materials for primary health care with the support of the international health organizations that are interested in this side. Consequently, the Association distributed these materials to hospitals and health centers in Northern Syria and the freed countryside of Lattakia.

This is one of the Association leading projects for its important services offered to the injured in addition to embodying the spirit of cooperation and coordination among medical organizations which share the Association and several organizations in supporting this project. These are Syria Relief, and Every Syrian Organization.

Because of the importance of this project, the 2014 Statistics will be presented to provide an idea of the volume of work in this vital project.

This project has adopted accelerating steps to develop its work in type and quality since it started to manufacture the artificial upper extremities several months ago and, shortly started to manufacture foot coverings for those with below ankle amputation to give the foot effectiveness and good shape.

The Seventh Course for Assistant Anesthetics Technician Cadre

Training and education commission of the Syrian Expatriates Medical Association finished the seventh course for establishing a staff of anesthesia assistants where this course aims to train the medical staff to fill the wide gap and the great need for anesthesia assistants in inner Syria.

Before launching this course, a basic life support course for one day was conducted for 22 trainees who have completed the theoretical and practical lessons after passing the exam and obtaining a certificate at the end of the course.

This course began on 19/1/2015 and continued for seven days, during which several lectures were delivered, including the basics of anesthesiology aided by the way of how to manage patients of different medical situations, trauma patients and war casualties up to how resuscitation and recovery, where the number of lectures were nearly twenty .

• Acquainting trainees with the operational environment and anesthetic drugs

• Short sessions on ( anesthesia device – parts and examination- preparations for anesthesia )

• Management of the airway and endotracheal intubation ( on doll and in the operation room )

• Stages of general anesthesia: induction, maintenance, and wakefulness ( direct operations )

• Sessions on ( regional anesthesia techniques and patient monitoring techniques 'capnogram ')

• Cardiac arrest and resuscitation during anesthesia

• Anesthetizing bruised patients

The number of trainees was 24 trainees, 22 of whom passed.

This was followed by the practical section and workshops that

The Engineering Office in the Association

The Engineering Office in the Association provided a variety of services during January 2015, most prominently were:

• Testing the devices to make sure of their efficiency : where the

efficiency of different devices from several medical organizations had been

tested before they were transferred into inner Syria to be installed. One

of the tested most important devices was an axial computer tomography

device; and preparation for its location is now underway for installation

by a charitable organization while testing Doppler ECHO, dental chairs and

• Repairing number of medical devices : such as monitor devices,

oxygen generating device, electric shock devices, phototherapy devices for

preterm infants, microscope to examine biopsies, and incubators for children

• Installing several devices in field hospitals : artificial ventilator

devices for premature infants with the installation of a device for electrolytes

and device for blood tests and crew training on them, in addition to the

installation on monitoring devices in Martyr Dr. Mohamed Bakar Hospital

in the countryside of Aleppo and in the Specialist Gynecology and Pediatrics

Laboratory and gynecological operations room renewal in Martyr Dr. Mohamed Bakar Hospital in the countryside of Aleppo

The laboratory has been developed with support from the Association by providing it with a device for electrolytes and another for blood gas analysis, in addition to securing all devices and equipment to conduct all gynecological operations.

Because of the guidance of Allah, and then the cooperation between Martyr Dr.Mohamed Bakar Hospital (SEMA) and Chmarin Hospital (PAC), the activities of pediatrics surgery were launched by the end of 2014. A number of major and minor quality operations have been performed within a very distinctive initiative.

We ask Allah, the Almighty, that such experience go on and its benefit prevail so that any deserted child in need of any advanced surgery may benefit from it.

The Association participates in the Relief of Syria Network ConferenceThe Association is considered one of the founding organizations and contributors in the Relief of Syria Network and has participated in this conference, whose most important outputs, according to the statement published on the web page of the Network are as follows.

The annual ( Confidence ) Conference outputs of the Relief of Syria Network was held in Turkish city of Gaziantep on 9-10 / January / 2015 and attended by more than 50 Syrian non-governmental organizations. The attending organizations were:
