NORMAS GENERALES - GENERAL RULES• Cualquier escalera que

tenga defectos que afecten su integridad estructural debe ponerse fuera de servicio y se le debe señalizar con una etiqueta.

• Las escaleras deben ser manipuladas y movidas con precaución, evitando golpes.

• Any ladder that has defects affecting its structural integrity must be removed from service and must be signaled with a label.

• Ladders must be handled and moved with caution, avoiding blows.

• La distancia de la base de una escalera a la pared no debe ser mayor que un cuarto de la longitud de la escalera.

• The distance from the base of a ladder on the wall must not be longer than one quarter of the length of the ladder.

• No se pare en los dos últimos escalones superiores de una escalera de tijera.

• Las escaleras que se usan para llegar a los techos deben sobresalir un metro sobre el techo.

• No trate de alcanzar algo que esté a más distancia que el largo de su brazo desde el centro de la escalera.

• Do not stand in the last two top steps of a stepladder.

• Ladders used to reach the roof must extend three feet above the roof.

• Do not reach for something that is farther than the length of your arm from the center of the ladder

• No se deben usar escaleras de metal cuando pueda haber contacto eléctrico.

• Las escaleras nunca se deben pintar. Si necesita poner unas siglas o numeración, estas deben ser pintadas en los pasamanos.

• Do not use metal ladders when you have electrical contact.

• Ladders should never be painted. If you need to put some initials or numbers, these should be painted on the railings.

• Si es necesario poner la escalera en una salida o en un corredor, usted debe cercar el área y poner letreros advirtiendo que hay personal trabajando.

• If you need to put the ladder in an exit or a broker, you must block the area and post signs warning that personal is working there.

• Mientras sube o baja por la escalera, NUNCA lleve herramientas u objetos que le impida sujetarse con ambas manos. SIEMPRE utilice una soga para subir o bajar el material.

• While going up or down the stairs, NEVER carry tools or objects that prevents to be secured with both hands. ALWAYS use a rope to raise or lower the material.

• En caso de que el trabajo requiera el uso de ambas manos, necesita usar arnés de seguridad.

• If the job requires the use of both hands, you need to use a safety harness.

• Las escaleras deben ser inspeccionadas visualmente a diario o cada vez que se van a usar.

• Ladders must be visually inspected daily or whenever you are going to use.
