SEBOKENG. - The community of Boiketlong InformalSettlement say they will never rest until they get closurefrom Police regarding the gunning down of their com-rade last year. They refer to the late Lerata Tladi Rabodila.Speaking during a community wreath-laying at the

Moshoeshoe, Masoheng intersection on Friday DoctorXaba said they distanced themselves from what somepeople wanted to turn into a political protest. This remark emerged when some members of the

Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) indicated that theywanted to participate in the laying of the wreaths. Region-al EFF chairperson Lebogang Saul and some membersof the party were forbidden to participate. Xaba said themarch and wreath-laying had nothing to do with politics:“Our concern is that since the murder we have heard noth-ing from Police. Every time we ask about the police inves-tigation, we are told they are still working on it.“We suspect that something is not going well as there

are Closed Circuit Cameras (CCTVs) near the scenewhich the police could rely on,” says Xaba.

Diphaphang Taldi, brother of the late Lerata, thanked the communi-ty for remembering the sad day of the shooting.

This is theweek (ValentinesDay’sweek) thatmost of you will attest that you all enjoy and

need. Although some of us do not celebratesuch days, it is quite pleasing to see and knowhow most of you do.The ‘Valentine messages’ have evolved

over the years; and finding new and uniqueways to express one’s love has become quitethe challenge.Love can seem such a mystery. Confusing

though it may be, it’s the one thing that weall need most. Love can make your world goround and sometimes it can bring you downand yet there’s no way to avoid the fall.Valentine’s Day is something most hold

near and dear. It’s a day of love, loyalty, and

gestures. This is ironic because it is a daycelebrating the death of a saint. Did youknow?Despite this it means something diffe-rent to everyone. Some likeme find it depres-sing and others get extremely excited aboutit. Still others find it is an excuse for compa-nies to sell chocolates and flowers. Nomatterwhat your opinion is, it is a day accepted byeveryone and means something to all of us.Therefore on this day take your time to Lovesomeone. Show that you care and may both(you lovers) your wishes come true.Stay blessed.Lerato…

VANDERBIJLPARK. - Information aboutthe crisis of sewage and water-spillage wasthe recent focus of the parliamentary portfoliocommittee working on Water and Sanitation. The spillage of sewage into the Vaal river

poses danger and a high risk to the peopleand the environment.Emfuleni mayor Gretha Hlongwane and

her delegates fulfilled a constitutional man-date when they took officials to perform over-sight visits to investigate the extent of watercontamination and water quality. The briefing was held at the Mayors’ par-

lour on Thursday. This comes after several complaints

brought to the attention of the Emfuleni De-partment ofWater and Sanitation by the com-munity.Hlongwane requested the portfolio com-

mittee to inject at least R9 million to try toremedy the current crisis. “Once the moneyis available the municipality will be able toflex its muscles,” she said. The mayor briefed the committee on the

sewage spills and water contamination thatwent into the Riespruit in Evaton, sewagespillage from Kwa-Masiza hostel pollutingthe Rietspruit and sewage from Evaton tomanholes. Some of the sewerage pipes block because

of low density inwhich clay settles inside dur-ing dry periods. When it rains, the clay build-up in the pipes

ultimately blocks them.Officials urged the municipality to be pa-

tient as the matter would be referred back toParliament to try to review the budget. The spill of raw sewage into the river poses

danger to the environment and children.Legally it’s wrong for people to throw dead

animals and scrap metal into the river.Hlongwane said they will go back to the

boardroom to resolve matters. She adds, “Wecommit ourself to working with Rand Waterand the portfolio committee.“We cannot deny that we sometimes get

court orders for not complying. We havesolvedmost of the problemswe are facedwithand we have to monitor our own area.”

Traditional healer100

I’m Sibongile from Zone 13. I was financially struggling and my in-laws separated me from myhusband. Our kids were sick & nothing was working out for us. I tried a lot of healers, pastors, etc with no answer. Until I heard about PROF PAHAD on the local radio.I visited him, he covered me with a white cloth, touched my head while making prayers. He gave me a magic stick that did wonders for me. I’m bounded with my husband & got asenior job promotion. We’re a happy family now. He showed me my enemies in magic water.

Is your heart broken? And are disappointed with other healers??Try him you won’t regret for men & women problems, lost lover,

SASOLBURG. -WilliamMokwalakwalama-de history when he won the Sasol Marathonfor the third consecutive year on Saturday. This was at the DP de Villiers Stadium.Mokwalakwala registered a finishing time

of 2:18:36, an improvement on the 2:21:13 herecorded in 2014. He goes down in the recordbooks as the second runner to complete therace in under 2:20:00 in the history of the Sa-sol Marathon. The other was Brighton Chi-pere, current record holder and winner of theSasol Marathon in 2011 with a time of02:16:15.Speaking after winning the Sasol Marathon

for the third time, Mokwalakwala said, “I ca-me into the race with one goal in mind - tocomplete the race in less than 2:20:00, beating

that target feels amazing. The Sasol Marathonis a perfect Comrades Marathon qualifier. Ithelps me ascertain my fitness levels and re-cord some of my best times due to the flat rou-te. From here I’m off to Lesotho to train vigo-rously for the 2015 Comrades.”To date, Mokwalakwala has ten Comrades

Marathon medals to his name, having achie-ved his best time of 5:39:29 in 2014, wherehe was placed 8th.Coming in moments after Mokwalakwala

was Sechaba Buhosi who completed the racein a time of 02:21:46, while the bronze medalwent to Odwa Tunyiswa, who came in at2:21:48. Attracting approximately 2 500 run-ners, today’s runmarked the 21st annual SasolMarathon. Entrants braved the 42.2 km full

marathon, 21.1 km half marathon, 10 km raceand 4.9 km fun run/walk. This is a significantincrease from last year’s 1 400 entrants. In the female category, it was Yolande Ma-

cLean’s turn to lead the pack, completing therace in an impressive 2:46:51, breaking the re-cord set in 2010 by just over a minute.Following closely was Gladys Lukhaware-

ni with a time of 3:02:49while Prudence Zwa-ne secured the third place spot for coming inat 3:02:55.“After a six-year absence from the race, to

come back to win the race is a massive accom-plishment. The SasolMarathon is an excellentqualifier for other races as well and has helpedrecord good race times for the Two OceansMarathon,” shared Maclean.

TOUCHLINE was thrilled NOT only by thequality of football displayed on the day butby the capacity crowd that packed the the Ge-orge Thabe Stadium to support the initiative– the Emfuleni U/17 Tournament - over the

weekend. It was heartwarming to see sucha capacity crowd coming towatch youngsters‘nogal’. This is something to write homeabout and for a change TOUCHLINE sawlocal coaches, players, parents, communityand football administrators sitting togetherwith one common goal – to support football, the future of this country. TOUCHLINE wasalso overwhelmed by the atmosphere at thestadium, with local soccer fans cheering allthe teams, regardless of which they suppor-ted. They applauded the action, skill and go-als of everyone. It was not just games butreviving junior football in this region and itwas also interesting to see former soccerplayers coming out in full support of these

youngsters. TOUCHLINE believes this kindof event must take place every weekend togive youngsters a platform from which toshowcase their talent. This is what TOU-CHLINE has been calling for – our young-sters must play competitive football againstwell organised academies like Kaizer Chiefs. This is the best way they can learn - by play-ing against stronger opposition. With juniorprogrammes coming, these kinds of gamescan benefit our region, seeing that the FutureChampions are around the corner. To makematters even more clear, even the ABCMot-sepe or SAB League doesn’t attract this kindof ground when they play. TOUCHLINE canattest to this. The SAB League hardly attracts

even 20 soccer fans. But TOUCHLINE can’tblame those soccer fans based onwhat is hap-pening in the field of play. People want tocome and watch exciting football with play-ers giving freedom of expression – FOOT-BALL WITHOUT FEAR … This is whatmakes teams such as Spanish giant Barcelonaa formidable side – individual brilliance. TheAFCON was disappointing including the fi-nal, because there weremany technical errorsfrom the playing point of view. Seeing grownmenmaking silly mistakes was like watchinga one-year-old trying to walk. It was emba-rassing to say the least!Lets meet on the TOUCHLINE again next

week ...

It was like watching a oneyearold trying to walk!
