Steve L. Powell

The honor to serve this great District is something Kathy and I do not take for granted. Individuals such as

Superintendent Terry Raburn, Assistant Superintendent Scott Young, Treasurer Wayne Blackburn and our

District Presbytery elevate us and make us better serving together. Thank you for this privilege. Great

appreciation to Yohanna Irizarry for her 19 years of unbelievable service, loyalty and love to us and

Peninsular Florida District Council. Natalee Smith continues to serve with excellence as credentials

administrator and District School of Ministry liaison. Finally, my words can never adequately say thank

you enough to Kathy, my wife for her continued selfless service and volunteer help to us all. District School

of Ministry Director Tim Lastinger, PF Kids Director Sydney Morrow and League of Christian Schools

Executive Director Michael Burroughs each serve with favor and commitment advancing this church thru

their areas of responsibility and more. Thank you!

Once again, our 2018 report is based on preliminary data shared to our office from the General Council of

the Assemblies of God in Springfield, Missouri. The 2018 All Church Ministries Report comprehensive data

will be available later in the year at https://ag.org/About/Statistics.

PF Kids Director Sydney Morrow continues to serve with passion, call, and excellence. Thanks, Sydney, for a job well done! The PF Kids report is included.

Tim Lastinger directs our District School of Ministry and oversees our faculty, serving with passion and continued vision. Thank you, Tim, for your labor and excellence. The DSOM report is included.

Executive Director of League of Christian Schools Michael Burroughs leads with incomparable vision, passion, and excellence. The LCS report is included. Michael continues to bless the Peninsular Florida District Council as our IT liaison, way outside the boundaries of his job description. Thank you, Michael!

In 2018, BGMC closed the year with $1,291,867.19 through your faithful giving. The team of Sydney Morrow, Chuck Padgett, Tom Manning, and I thank you for believing in making the impossible possible for missions! A report of giving churches is included. Eight out of the top 15 giving churches nationally were from Peninsular Florida District. Fifty of Peninsular Florida District Council churches were in the top 100 giving nationally. Once again, our Girl’s Ministry, under the leadership of Bonnie Pait, gave thru Coins for Kids raising $17,287.24 for BGMC. Our Royal Rangers, under Doug Moon’s leadership, gave thru Master’s Toolbox, raising $23,312.53 for BGMC.

The 2018 Experience Conference was a highlight with “ABOVE & BEYOND – TAKE 2” after the 2017 cancellation due to Hurricane Maria. Experience 2018 bounced back strong! The ministry of General Superintendent Doug Clay and Pastor Rob Ketterling was exceptional. The breakouts were well attended and reports came back that this 2018 may have been one of our best church ministry conference yet. Thank you to all that contributed and assisted in making this equipping event happen.

Respectfully submitted,

Steve L. Powell Christian Education Director

PF KIDS Annual Report 2018

Kids Camp 2018: Last summer we had a blast at Kids Camp with our AG National

Director of Children’s Ministries, Mark Entzminger. Our theme for Kids Camp was

The Quest, as we helped our kids explore how much Jesus loves them and how He

had great plans for their lives. What an amazing two weeks we had at camp! They

were challenged to know that Jesus loves them, and they can love Him back; God

can be trusted no matter what and because the Holy Spirit empowers us, we can

know that God has an Incredible plan for my life. We had over 900 in attendance

between both camps. We saw God do some amazing things in kids’ lives as well as in our leaders. Between

both week 1 and 2 we had 100 kids say that they asked Jesus in their heart for the very first time! 159

kids told us that they rededicated their life to Jesus at kid’s camp. In addition, we had 320 kids say that

they were Baptized in the Holy Spirit with the evidence of speaking in other tongues. God is still in the

business of empowering His kids! We also had 96 kids say they felt God calling them to full time ministry

in some capacity, including missions. We are so excited about what God is doing in our District in PF Kid’s

ministries. Our kids are doing incredible things for Jesus as they are understanding that God has given

them everything, they need to live for Him. These are exciting times to be a part of PF Kids! We are in

full swing and preparation for Kids Camp 2019. Our speaker for this summer’s camps will be Sydney

Morrow, and a team of PF Kids Leaders. Our theme for this summer is “Come Alive.” Our desire is that

kids will understand that according to John 10:10, Jesus came that we may all have LIFE, and have it to

the FULL! We want kids to Come Alive this summer in their heart, soul, mind and strength. Kids Camp 1

will be July 15-19, and Kids Camp 2 will be July 22-26. This summer we also will be having a Camp

Missionary, Shawn Deal with Africa’s Hope, bringing an incredible emphasis on Missions and BGMC at our

camps. Shawn will be speaking in our morning chapels and helping the kids to understand their roles to

Pray, Give and Go. We are so excited to see what God is going to do this summer, and we are believing

for an incredible increase at our camps in 2019. Thank you to all the pastors and leaders who invest in

your kids and young people by allowing them the opportunity to experience Jesus at Kids Camp. We truly

believe PF Kids Camps are the BEST WEEKS OF SUMMER! Registration and forms available now at

www.pfyouth.com.

Fun Arts Festival: Fun Arts 2018 was held on Saturday, May 11th, at Calvary Orlando. Fun Arts is similar

to our student program, Fine Arts, where kids are encouraged to discover, develop, and deploy their God

given gifts and talents. We had around 250 kids participate this year in Fun Arts. We had such a great

response from the kids and leaders; kids are excited about learning that they have gifts and talents the

Lord has given them and cannot wait to use them in ministry. We would like to thank Pastor Ed Garvin,

Pastor Mike Justice, Pastor Sheik Ally and all of the staff at Calvary for graciously allowing us to use their

church and facility to host this incredible event.

FOCUS Kids Pastor’s Retreat: This past February 7-9 we had our FOCUS Kids Pastors’ Retreat at the Life

Enrichment Center in Fruitland Park. We had around 80 people in attendance. It was an incredibly

refreshing event, and everyone walked away with a renewed sense of their call and passion for what they

do. Sydney and Robbie Morrow were the speakers and encouraged our leaders to stay connected and

19

make sure that they don’t forget what God has placed inside of them. We will have our next FOCUS Kids

Pastors’ Retreat in February of 2021, and our guest speaker will be Brian Dollar, creator of High Voltage

Ministries. Promotional information will be available early 2020.

BGMC: PFDC had another record-breaking year in 2018 for BGMC. This past year, the churches and kid’s

ministries of Peninsular Florida raised over $1 million again to make this the 3rd time in three years for a

District to go over the million-dollar threshold. Pen Florida had many churches in the top 10 in the nation.

We are so thankful for all that is happening in our district for BGMC, and we will continue to dream Big so

that missionaries can have the tools they need to reach people for Jesus! Our 2019 District BGMC Banquet

Celebration will be on Thursday, September 12th at Victory Church, Lakeland.

Blessings!

2018 DSOM Report

It was the summer of 2008. I was married with 2 children, 1 in college, the other

finishing High School. I worked a full-time job about 60 hours a week, was very active

in ministry within my local church and every waking moment was filled with activity.

Although I enjoyed life, I knew that I was not fulfilling the call that God had placed on

my life as a teenager but going back to school to finish my degree seemed impossible

to fit into my schedule and I had settled in my mind to be content with my plot in life.

Then came PF DSOM. My father called me and began to explain to me the program that he had created

and said that if I was interested, I should sign up for the upcoming fall season. Instantly, I felt the Holy Spirit

prodding me to pursue that course in life. It was the best decision apart from salvation and marriage that I

have ever made. Now, I am having the time of my life as the lead pastor of an awesome congregation in

North Central Florida and am deeply privileged to direct and oversee the District School of Ministry.

My testimony is just one of hundreds of people whose lives have been changed through the ministry of

DSOM and many of those are now either ministering full time or are actively and skillfully engaged in their

churches throughout Pen Florida and beyond.

This past year DSOM has had approximately 120 students with an average of 70 students monthly that

attend one of our 6 campuses. Most of our campuses can be reached under a 1 and ½ hour drive for most

students.

This year, we are excited to announce that we will be relocating our Sarasota campus to the Church of Hope

and adding a brand-new campus at Calvary Assembly in Dade City. All the location details and schedules

are included in your registration packet.

As always, I owe a great amount of thanks and appreciation to the District office staff and administration,

the site coordinators and registrars, the host churches and pastors who so graciously provide their facilities

at no charge to the District and especially to my wife who spends many Saturdays without me for the cause

of DSOM.

If you are a lead pastor, I exhort you to encourage your parishioners to pursue DSOM to expand their biblical

knowledge, form relationships with others throughout the district, glean experience from anointed

instructors and become valuable leaders to be used for your church and God’s glory.

In His Service,

Tim A. Lastinger Pastor Tim A. Lastinger Director – Pen Florida DSOM

League of Christian Schools International League of Christian Schools & Florida League of Christian Schools

The League of Christian Schools continues to advance the cause of Biblical

education in several states and countries. This past year LCS accredited Hope

Christian Academy in Seattle, Washington, and added North Carolina as a state

where we now have member schools. The value of our membership, compared

with other similar national programs, is significantly higher when considering the return on investment for

membership with the League.

In March 2018, we hosted the LCS Festival for Academics and the Arts at Southeastern University. Our 2018

event welcomed 1,628 students, in 1002 entries which was down 15 students and 25 entries from the

previous year. We anticipated this event to be lower than the previous year as Southeastern University

moved its spring break to coincide with spring break in most of our schools. The LCS Festival is one of the

largest Fine Arts program in the nation. The Festival features student-level (grades 3 -12) competition for

academics and fine arts to help students discover and refine their God given talents and abilities. Learn

more about the festival at https://LCS.Education/Festival/.

As you may not be aware, Hurricanes Michael had some impact on several of our schools. However,

Springfield Community Church Preschool in Panama City, Florida, sustained significant damage, disrupting

school operations. We were able to collect over $2,300 from our schools to help support the relief efforts

for this program.

In October we hosted our annual leadership camp Encounter, a camp for middle school students from

Christian schools designed to help them learn to live a lifestyle of honoring God through daily decisions they

make. We were honored to have Michael Williams, Middle School Pastor at Faith Assembly in Orlando as

our guest speaker. Michael was a blessing and made a HUGE impact in the lives of our students. We hosted

226 students.

The three pillars of the League of Christian schools are accreditation, certification, and professional

development. To that end, LCS conducted 27 accreditations, certified 456 teachers, and performed 4,001

hours of training. Our growth has demanded expansion and we are thrilled to welcome Tobi Manke to our

staff as the Director of Educational Accountability. Tobi and her family have attended Trinity International

in Lake Worth for over 20 years. She was a teacher and department leader at Trinity Christian Academy

before serving as head administrator for the past 6 years. Her primary role with the League is to oversee

accreditation and certification processes and protocols.

Last year, the League of Christian Schools hosted our annual conference in Orlando, FL, to a sold-out

audience of 1,468 attendees and 25 exhibitors. LCS hosted 58 presenters in 119 workshops. Our keynote

speaker was Dr. Mark Rutland and our guest Worship leader was Clayton Brooks from The Oaks.
