Murwillumbah Public School Promoting Excellence in Education Newsletter 27th September 2018 Term 3 Week 10 PUBLIC SCHOOL Prince Street 6672 1467 Murwillumbah Principals Message Dear parents, Well here we are at the end of another term which has been filled with an assortment of quality learning opportunities. The students have been involved in so many wonderful activities this term such as Public Speaking, Premiers Spelling Bee, Touch Football, High School Transition and Maths Olympiad to name a few. Many of these activities rely on parents transporting children and I would like to take this opportunity to say a very big thank you to all the parents who give up their time (and petrol) to assist us with this. Our children would not be able to participate in many of these events without their support. This term has again seen Murwillumbah PS deliver a number of innovative pedagogical practices as part of the 2018-20 School Plan. These are supported by staff professional learning, in order to differentiate curriculum delivery to meet the needs of individual students. One such program is Positive Behavior for Learning(PBL). PBL ensures all students at Murwillumbah Public School are supported in a caring and welcoming environment. MPS consistently implements a whole school approach to wellbeing that has clearly defined behavioral expectations and creates a positive teaching and learning environment. School programs and practices reflect our shared beliefs and values with positive, respectful relationships evident among students and staff. Last week MPS students and staff took part in a ‘walkathon’ to raise money for draught relief. We had 100% participation from students and the school appreciates the community support for this event. A big thank you to all staff involved, especially Mrs Price. Her dedication and support of the

SRC made this initiative a huge success. Thank you for making this day one the students will remember for a long time. If possible, please make sure all donations are finalised by Friday.

In more exciting news, Mrs. Watkins entered the school garden into the Murwillumbah and District Garden Club competition for home owners and schools. I am pleased to report that MPS received the Encouragement Award. Great work Mrs. Watkins, the students really appreciate all of your effort and organisation of the school garden. Well done!I would like to take this opportunity to thank the students, staff and parents for

another fantastic term. We once again have enjoyed the wonderful support from our whole community. This support is what makes us the great school we are. Enjoy the holiday break and I look forward to seeing students back again on Monday 15th October.
