A storyteller who flirts with mythology, burrows into theology and deconstructs history to blur the boundaries of both fact and fiction, Mr. Sanghi urged the students to connect the dots and look at perspectives beneath the crevices and explore the fault lines in an otherwise smooth narrative. 10th May, 19 Video Conferencing with German School

Video conference with a school in Germany - Giebichenstein- Gymnasium, Thomas Müntzer, situated in Halle (Salle) in Central Germany and presented them as their favorite cartoon characters and the German students also introduced themselves and spoke about their school and hobbies.

Students participated in a video conference with Mexico Gestalt Iinstitution. Children showcased the great epic Ramayan and the Mexican students showcased one of their epics about the love story between two volcanoes.

16th May, 19 Mother’s Day Celebrations

Students expressed their love and affection for their mothers by performing plays, songs, dance and playing games with them. Mothers also performed with their children they were so excited that it seemed as if their childhood had retreated.

18th May, 19 Fireless Cooking

To create interest in the culinary skills among the students ‘fireless cooking’ was done. The students prepared healthy, delicious and mouthwatering snacks, beverages, deserts, milk shakes etc. The objective of this activity was to engage the children in positive sensory experience with a variety of healthy food, identify personal food preferences, practice food preparation skills and know the cultures of the world.

21st May, 19 Fire Safety Drill A fire safety drill was organized to teach the student council how to save lives and be free from any damages. It is done to create awareness among the students about fire-fighting techniques and the ways to respond swiftly in times of such emergency situation.

Teachers of every subject presented intensive mapping of the first terminal curriculum withevery details like- objectives, strategies,assessment,teaching aids and learning outcomes. Integration of subjects was stressed upon and activities planned were in cooperated. Main highlights were on the nuances of teaching each subject effectively.

23rd May, 19 Dr. Zoltan Wilhelm‘s visit

BVN initiated the collaboration with Hungarian Embassy. Dr Zoltan Wilhelm, PhD Habil. Director, Cultural Counselor, Embassy of Hungary visited the school for future alliance. He was exhilarated to see art room, sports complex, and library and science lab. Student exchange program, scholarship for further studies at Hungarian University, summer short term courses, workshops and promotion of art and culture of both countries were the main topic discussed.

24th May, 19 Inter-house Choreography Competition

An inter-house choreography competition was held where six teams had to choose a social issue and create awareness about it through their performance. Team Nilgiri secured the first position with this performance focusing on the issues faced by the LGTBQ+ community. The runner up and the second runner up were Annapurna and Kailash respectively. A few other issues which were taken up were rape, #METOO, environmental pollution, etc.

Mental Health Workshop

BVN Mental Health committee consisting of class XI students conducted a workshop on Bullying for class VI students where in students were taught about different kinds of bullying and what to do in such situations. All the students are now personal mentors and the class VI students can approach them for further guidance and counseling if needed.

Japanese Language Workshop

BVN Students participated in an interactive session wherein children and parents competed in picking up beans with chopsticks and origami. Students sang a Japanese song to welcome Ms Imoto from Japan Foundation. A Japanese movie made by students on Delhi city was shown and a movie showcasing Japan’s historical places and natural flora and fauna was also shown in the session.

BVN The students were sensitized about saving water by various methods. Drip irrigation, Rain water harvesting, planting more trees, repair of leaking taps, etc are other ways of saving water which were discussed. Power point Presentation on Conservation of Water was also shown to the students.

BVN Thalassemia awareness workshops were conducted by Dr Meghna and Dr Tajinder. Students were made aware of the causes of this blood disorder and how they could prevent future generations from having it.They were also encouraged to Donate blood and save lives.

BVN A workshop on stream selection was conducted by Pratham group. The students were guided about how to choose a stream. A session on law and related careers was conducted. The students were guided about various job prospects after doing law. They were also given awareness about the admission and cut off in Delhi University.

Coding Committee Workshop

BVN The session was aimed at bringing IT close to the modern generation and removing the pall of omniscience from their minds. Students chose the often neglected topics like Cyber security and Hacking. Akshat Kareer and Akshat Joshi of class XII-C conducted an eye-opening workshop on Hacking. Simple analogies using characters from the Marvel Universe seemed to connect well to the students.Next was a workshop on Cyber Security in the same class by Ashish Arora and Harsh Srivastava of class XI-C. This was done because the world of Cyber security coexists with Hacking and hence it was important to present both the topics. The brand new concept of 5G communication technology was also explained. The presentation here was given by Abhishek Dutta and Vibha S of class XII-C. One special workshop was conducted on the topic of Artificial Intelligence. This was done to bring the students to the reality of the technological world. This workshop was beautifully conducted by Snehit Sah of XII-C and Himanshu Janmeda of class XI-C.

Training session for primary teachers

Session I: Igniting the young minds through demonstrations The session focused on demonstrations mapped to topics in primary syllabus which ignite the minds through firsthand experiences. Demonstration topics included the five senses and the surroundings. Session II: Nurturing creativity through STEAM activities The session enabled teachers to use STEAM activities to nurture individual expression and creativity in children. The teachers practiced on some hands-on activities and were empowered to develop their own modules of STEAM activities. Session III: Developing critical thinking through stories Young children love stories and they also love challenges. This session focused on how to integrate the two to develop critical thinking in and beyond the classroom. The stories also take it further through continuing investigations appropriate for the age group.

BVN The Investiture ceremony was held to invest the new council of Inayat .The outgoing council along with exceptional students of the interact club were given certificates. The program included two dance performances and a song. The report of 2018-19 was shared along with the vision statement. Computer and tailoring students were given certificates. The Annashree project was inaugurated and workers of the school were given basic food supplies.
