    SAP Introduction

    SAP was founded in June 1972 as Systemanalyse andProgrammentwicklung (System Analysis and Program Development) by fiveformer IBM engineers in Mannheim.

    The acronym was later changed to Systems, Applications and Products inData Processing.

    In 1976, SAP GmbH was founded and moved its headquarters the following

    year to Waldorf. In August 1988, SAP GmbH transferred into SAP AG.

    SAP AG became the official name after 2005.

    The primary objective was to develop standard application software for real-time business processing.

    Products launched for Enterprise Resource Planning:

    1973 the first product SAP R/1 solution based on mainframe was launched 1979 SAP launched SAP R/2 as a result of intensive examination of SAPs

    IBM database and dialog control system.

    1992 SAP followed the trend from mainframe R/2 computing to client-serverarchitectures (R/3)

    warehousing was launched and the product was termed as BusinessWarehouse Information System.

    In 2008, SAP used the Business Intelligence to refer

    SAP Business Objects BI Solutions The actual BI changed back to BW along with additional parameters such as

    Bex SAP Business Explorer and BWA for accelerator.
