SAP NetWeaver – People Integration

For its first application, Day & Zimmermann

moved the online services delivered by itsstaffing unit to the portal. At first, Day &

Zimmermann put it to work for some internal

human resources report ing.

Then, in July 2003,, Day & Zimmermann went

live externally by extending the reach of its

online services – which include customer-

driven content, and community and e-

business tools

“The portal was an instant success,” says

Bosco. “In its first week of operation, it enabled

us to beat our already ambitious SLA for theweekly billing. And within a month, we had

quadrupled our time improvement.”

“ We know that SAP understands the

enterprise infrastructure, and it getsthe

basic technology right, whether it’s

with

ERP or a Web portal. The whole [SAP]

NetWeaver concept shows that. SAPis

going in the right direction, and we

can

depend on them to roll out the new

featureswe need.”

Zimmermann

SAP NetWeaver – Information Integration

“ Previously, we have relied on people

“ eyeballing” rows andcolumns and pages of data,” Glenn

says. “ These SAP solutions

provide consistent, high-quality

information across Coca-Cola

globally. This enables us to compare,in an exception-based way,

locations, brands, and accounts.

mySAP Financials, along with

mySAP Business Intelligence, allow

us to compare one part of the world to another, one brand to

another, to answer crucial

questions about our business and

continually improve our competitive

position.”

Becky Glenn, SAP Global

Integration Manager at The

Coca-Cola Company.

Coca-Cola wanted a single environment

for making financial data readily accessibleto executive management worldwide.

mySAP Financials and mySAP BI

solutions have given them thisenvironment.

Coca-Cola now uses business

consolidation and planning, along with

data warehousing, to ensure their senior

executives can access global consolidated

results and planning information based on

consistent, accurate data.

SAP NetWeaver Process Integration

“ We didn't have to write a single line

of custom code for the out-of-the-boxSAP XI Solut ion. The business

content routing rules contained in a

central repository – instead of hard-

coded interfaces – provides for much

more agili ty… This shrinks IT cycle times,

enabling TI to reduce time-to-market.”

Ian Clark, Senior Member of Technical

Staff

“ The abil ity of SAP Exchange

Infrastructure to support mission-

crit ical business processes, while at

the same time reduce integration and

maintenance costs, was key in ourdecisionmaking process. Job well

done by SAP development.”

Dan Murphree, Vice President

of Business Appllications

SAP XI’s exchange-based process

integration eliminates the problems ofdirect connections by extracting shared

knowledge.

Instead of directly coding point-to-pointinterfaces for each new component, SAP

Exchange Infrastructure allows instant

plug-in of new components.

This reduces integration costs compared

to the direct connection approach and

provides flexibility for today’s fast-changing

business world.

“ The application we developed with

SAP Web Application Server hashelped streamline processes.

Integration with other applications is

very easy to do . . .

This really supports our operations –

that’s the main gain here.”Lynn Furuta, Manager of Application

Development, Adobe

“ Adobe was one of the first

companies to use SAP Web Application Server in production over

the Internet. Performance has also

been exceptional. We have more

than 50,000 resellers and can handle

250 concurrent users. The responsetime is very good.”

Lynn Furuta, Manager of

 Application Development,

 Adobe

SAP Web Application Server offered Adobe

a reliable and scalable application platformthat supports Java/J2EE and ABAP™ for

developing Web services and business

applications in an open, standards-based

environment. SAP Web Application Server supports developing, packaging, deploying,

testing, and debugging J2EE applications

(Java server pages, servlets, and

Enterprise JavaBeans). SAP Web AS 6.3 is

a fully J2EE 1.3–compliant application

server that will deliver integrated tools for

software li fe-cycle management to

streamline the entire development

process. Moreover, it seamlesslyintegrates into Adobe’s back-end

transactional mySAP™ ERP and analytical

“ Managing the size and volume of our

data has always been a top priorityfor us, and doing it successfully has

meant signif icant savings. . . . That’s

one reason why we have a global IT

strategy, which includes following a

very discipl ined approach indeveloping data.”

Ed Toben, CIO, Colgate-Palmolive

“ [With the SAP data archiving

solution] we were able to reducedatabase growth in our pet food

division by more than three quarters,

from about 70 gigabytes per month to

around 17 gigabytes per month.

That’s quite a savings.”Jim Capraro, Director, Enterprise

Service Center, Colgate-Palmolive

“We chose SAP data archiving because it

provided a secure and reliable way to handleour data management requirements,” says

Capraro. Data archiving with SAP NetWeaver

is an online process that handles the

company’s “business-complete” data, which isdata no longer needed in its everyday

business processes.

A two-step procedure ensures safety and

load distr ibution. The first step ensures that

only the business-complete data is archived. In

the second step, the system reads the archive

file and deletes only those objects from the

database that have been written to the archive

file. Data is then transferred to a storagesystem for long-term archiving. Although the

data has been deleted from the database,

Colgate can stil l easily access it at any

time.

“ With SAP xRPM, we’re now able to

take a consistent and efficientapproach to project management,”

“ We now have full visibil ity across the

value chain and are able to better

align enterprise-wide projects with

corporate objectives. We plan to leverage SAP xRPM to

improve time-to-market by speeding

up project delivery cycles for

strategic init iatives and getting the

right resources to the right projects.”

Peter Künzi, assistant director of the

Competence Center SAP at BIT.

Challenged with a high volume pipeline of

diverse IT projects, BIT needed a solution thatwould better identify the initiatives with

greatest potential for success and empower

managers to support those with appropriate in-

house skills and resources. BIT chose SAPxRPM to increase visibility into its portfolio

of projects, better identify and util ize

employee capabilities to support critical

projects, quickly diagnose lagging projects,

and for the first time, calculate the value and

ROI of each project. SAP xRPM capabilities

will help BIT continually fine-tune its project

portfolio and drive internal innovation, resulting

in project acceleration, enhanced quality, better and faster delivery, and increased

employee satisfaction. The end result is that

BIT can leverage SAP xRPM to better

align strategy with execution.
