Synopsis

Adrian is a boy who lived in a roomlet and aparts away from his mother lived in Bethnal Green and works in a laundry. He usually gets occasions to be Lucas Croyden’s guest, a Socialist, at the Ritz Carlton, where he works. After his Adrian evenings have dinner with Lucas, he becomes an object conversation between Lucas and his aunt, Susan Mebberley. Susan wants to take Adrian go to Homburg with her. Lucas warnings his aunt before his aunt still in her way to bring Adrian. Adrian is carried abroad by Susan to the best hotel in Switzerland, at Dohledorf. Adrian feels unusual because of the dreadful situation he never felt before. However, Adrian makes Susan in a disaster one night and they should move to another hotel. Then, when they have moved, Adrian gets a fit of insomnia and he makes the situation on his corridor floor becomes so panic and anxiety because of the changing of all bedroom numbers who is done by him. At the end of this story who is written by Clovis to send to Lucas, Susan is beginning to look a little worried and sends a telegram to Lucas because she wants to send Adrian back to his people.

Character and Characterization • Adrian as the main character has round and

dynamic character since he feels unusual when Susan takes him to go to Dohledarf, although actually he comes from the lower class and stays in the best hotel named Victoria in Switzerland, there he makes a problem who makes them should move to another hotel. Then, he also makes some people in Hotel Steinbock panic and anxiety because of his naughtiness.



Conflicts experienced by Adrian as the main character

• Internal Conflict : Adrian feels unusual when Susan takes him to the best hotel in Switzerland

• External conflict : – Adrian >< Susan and Adrian >< The

Point of View

Adrian short story is using omniscient point of view.

As evident, in this example, an omniscient narrator posses information about different figures of the novel (“His baptismal register ... His mother ... His friends ...”).

Plot

Exposition : Adrian works at the Ritz Carlton as he emerges from the struggle to dine there and on those occasions he is usually the guest of Lucas Croyden, who is a Socialist.

Complication : Adrian becomes an object conversation between Lucas and his aunt, Susan Mebberley at the fashionable tea shop after Lucas and Adrian had dinner a night before. His appearance and his life background makes Susan decides to take him with her to Homburg, although Lucas has warned his aunt about Adrian.



Plot

Climax :Adrian is duly carried abroad under by Susan to Homburg and he makes Susan in disaster, because he kidnappes the Grobmayer child when it is going to sleep during the interval. He introduces it during the second half of the entertainment and pinched it too hard, it makes the Grobmayers get angry, so that they should move to another hotel.



Plot

Falling action :After Adrian and Susan move to another hotel, Adrian gets an insomnia and makes a mess during the night by unscrewing and transposing all the bedroom numbers on his floor. He is also transferring the bathroom label to the adjoining bedroom door. It makes the situation in next morning filled panic from the guests who look for their respective rooms.



Plot

Resolution :Adrian can’t be turned well by Susan, as Adrian doesn’t get any money. So that, Susan wants to send him back home, but she doesn’t know his mother’s address, then she sends a telegram to Lucas.



Theme

• The theme of this story is An Youth Irresponsibility represented by Adrian as the main character based on the story Adrian by Hector Hugh Munro.



Conclusion

• Based on the previous chapters it can be concluded that the main character of Adrian by Hector Hugh Munro is Adrian. He is described as a boy who is goodlooking, naughty, rude and irresponsible. He is also described as a dynamic and round character, since he has a lot of ways / efforts to show his trait as a young boy who feels unusual when he is brought up by Susan to Homburg. Besides that, he also changes from the beginning to the end, because there are a lot of ways he showed to the reader and make us can’t predict what will happen next. Adrian also experienced the external and internal conflicts. Adrian against Susan, The Grobmayer child, the environment and Adrian against himself. Plot in this story is divided into exposition, complication, climax, turning point and resolution. The point of view is omniscient point of view.
