Lent is a call not just to “give up some-thing” but more important to “give some-thing for the poor.” Wherever you live in the parish, there are poor families within

walking distance of your home. When in need, they ring the rectory bell. They are, in elect, ringing your doorbell. Is there a family you know who needs as-sistance? Please call the Society of St. Vincent de Paul so that together we can help the poor, the suf-fering, and the deprived. Our Lenten Gift to you is The Little Black Book, avail-able at the back & side doors of the Church. Please take one book per family for your Lenten prayer jour-ney. May you grow closer to Jesus this season.

PRAY FOR THE SICK Please offer a prayer for Parishioners who are in the hospital, Kathryn Bresnak and those who are ill, Dorothy Loturco and Theresa Bringenberg.

THE ORGAN IN LENT The Lenten rubrics of the New US Catholic Bish-ops Roman Missal (2011) specify that churches are “not permitted to decorate the altar with flowers and the use of musical instruments is allowed only to accompany the singing.” Exceptions are Lae-tare Sunday (Fourth Sunday of Lent) and Feast Days, such as the Annunciation. This reminds us of the penitential nature of Lent and then, 40 days later, letting the joy of Easter shine forth all the more gloriously.
