Pastors Potpourri: ONE’S LIFE DOES NOT DEPEND ON POSSESSIONS

We hear the parable the Lord tells in the Gospel today…the rich farmer who had a good harvest and decided to tear down his present barns and build bigger ones. Then he would be set for life…to eat,

drink and be merry. All was good. But then the Lord says, that day his life would end and who would get all this “stuff” of his? We are talking about greed. We need many things but sometimes our

possessions can possess us. They become the reason for our being, rather than our family, friends and God. We know people who think that the more possessions they have. The more important they

are. They think themselves superior to those around them who have less.

It can happen to any of us. The rich farmer wasn’t portrayed as a sinful person. He didn’t steal or cheat or not pay his laborers. Most likely he was honest, hard working and smart…but not smart enough to

fully grasp reality. He was rich in material things but forgot the most important thing…his relationship with God. Let us think about these things.— Fr. Bob

St Francis Circle We will be taking the summer off from our regular meetings! But the work never ends. Did you know that our quilts could be called “the 28-hand” quilts! Much of the work is done at home. On average, 14 people lovingly touch the quilt from batting & fabric – cutting & making square kits – and sewing & iron-ing. During our regular meetings we are pin-ning – sewing – closing – tying – folding & counting!!! It’s an amazing process and fulfilling to be a part of SFC. Think about joining us. Thank you Father Bob, St. Jude staff, parishioners, and SFC members for your sup-port!! Questions, call Gloria @ 303-986-4311 or Doris @ 303-763-7699.
