Scrip News Thank you to our 14 families that purchased Scrip this week. Our total profit was
$78.84.
Children’s Liturgy of the Word: this program is offered on Sunday during the 9:30
Mass. CLW is for children ages 3-7 years. Each week we pray, read and explore the
Sunday Gospel from a child’s viewpoint. We include the Gospel Acclamation so that
children understand the importance of preparing our mind and heart for the Gospel
reading. Christian discipleship demands that one makes the conscious decision to die to
oneself and follow Jesus, regardless of cost (USCCA , 184,185).
Elementary Faith Formation: The elementary program is for students in grades 1-5.
We meet on Wednesday, from 6:00 - 7:30 pm. Our program begins in the church. Con-
tact Debbie if you have any questions (616) 384-4026. Thank you to everyone who
attended our Eucharistic Adoration Service last week. What a beautiful sight: families
worshiping our Lord and Savior.
Middle School Faith Formation: Grades 6, 7 and 8 class will be after the 9:30am
Mass from 10:45 to 12:15 in the Youth Room.
High School Youth Ministry: See Cluster Page for detailed information.
Have you considered St. Michael’s Preschool for your child? If not, you should! Come
and visit the classroom anytime. See what a great experience St. Michael’s Preschool
can provide. Small classrooms sizes, lifelong friendships, and so much more! Preschool
meets on MWF from 8:45—11:45 am. Your child must be 3 or 4 by October 1st, 2019.
For more info, please call our Preschool Director, Annette Lown at 616-384-4026.

The children were lined up in
the cafeteria of a Catholic ele-
mentary school for lunch. At the
head of the table was a large pile
of apples. The nun made a note,
and posted on the apple tray:
"Take only ONE. God is watch-
ing." Moving further along the
lunch line, at the other end of the table was a large pile
of chocolate chip cookies. A child had written a note,
"Take all you want. God is watching the apples.

Children’s Liturgy
During 10:30 a.m./11:00a.m. Mass
In Children’s Liturgy of the Word, we shared with the
children that faith is an amazing thing! With faith, one
believes that anything is possible with God. When we
have faith in someone, we believe that this person can
accomplish what he or she sets out to do. In today’s
Gospel story, Jesus talks to the people in His own town.
The people did not believe He was the Messiah. They
kept asking, “Isn’t he Joseph’s son?” They knew Him as a
child and wondered why they were just learning of Him
being the Messiah. Because Jesus heard their questions
and felt his neighbor’s doubts, he told them that He
would not be able to perform miracles there. They
lacked the faith necessary for Jesus to ask for a miracle.
There are many times in the Bible that people are healed
and they thank Jesus. Jesus tells them, “Your faith has
made you well.” Our part in a miracle is believing it is
possible and having faith that God is working through us
and others. We shared with the children that God’s miracles happen all the time. The miracle of a smile, a
random act of kindness, the miracle of His presence in
the bread and wine of Communion, the love of our fami-
ly and friends, the miracle of a baby in the womb, and
the miracle of just being alive! Do we have enough faith
to see God’s miracles at work in our lives?

This week we celebrate the Feasts of St. Agatha on the
5th and St. Bakhita on the 8th. The Church emphasizes the qualities of purity and modesty as well as obedience
to God. We are now in the Liturgical Season of Ordi-
nary Time. This is a time of growing in our faith; follow-
ing God’s commands helps us do that. Celebrating the
