The Word This Week:

What a gift it is, to be able to recognize the true value of things, and choose those which will last forever and bring us true happiness! Solomon, renowned for wisdom, is able to make the right choices when offered the chance to have anything he wants. What would we choose? The parable in the Gospel tells us that, in a sense, the choice is already before us: we can see the kingdom of heaven waiting for us: it is of greater value than anything else, and so all our hearts should be set on it. Nothing

should stand in our way. https://www.salfordliturgy.org.uk/trinitya.htm

Do you wish you could talk about something besides all the stresses in your life? A Worldwide Marriage Encounter Weekend gives you the time and tools to revitalize romance, deepen communication and nourish the spirituality in your Sacrament. The next Marriage Encounter Weekend will be at Our Lady of Fatima Retreat House, Indianapolis, from 6-8 November 2020. Visit www.wwme.org for further information.

Quote from a couple who made a Worldwide Marriage Encounter Weekend: “Our Weekend was, without qualification, the most fantastic and moving experience of our lives.”

►PRAYER SHAWL MINISTRY: St. Mary's Prayer Shawl Ministry has been active despite the shutdowns caused by the virus. The ministry is carried out by devoted parishioners who make the shawls in their own homes, and we have several on hand. If you know of someone who faces ongoing or serious illness, please contact Anna in the parish office. We will do our best to get prayer shawls to those who need them. May God bless those involved in this ministry and those who wear the shawls as they pray for God's comfort and care.

Also, thank you to those who donated the yarn so we can make more shawls. We truly appreciate your contribution.

MISSION APPEAL

FOR BENEDICTINE SISTERS OF ST. AGNES. TANZANIA

This year, because of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Archdiocesan Mission Office decided that we would not invite

representatives from mission organizations to come and make personal presentations in our parishes. Instead the

Mission Office arranged to have the Holy Father’s mission organization and website “host” all of our appeals. On

the Holy Father’s mission website Missio.org each appeal within our Archdiocese is individually listed. Since we

here at St Mary’s have been assigned to do the appeal for the Benedictine Sisters of St Agnes, in Tanzania, the

Mission website presents the Sisters’ appeal for us.

Here is the internet website to go directly to the appeal assigned to us:

https://www.missio.org/project/18419/Providing-Health-Care-Education-to-Tanzanians?localization=EN

Please take the time and effort to access the information and the steps to offer our support for this Community of

Religious woman. When you go to the website you will see our parish listed at the bottom where you can make your

donation. Here is a bit of information about this wonderful group of Sisters:

They are a community of over 500 Sisters who serve in a wide variety of ministries and pastoral work in 11 dioceses

in Tanzania. These include health care, education, pastoral work, care for orphans. During these very troubling

times, as each of you consider how to reach out to those in need, a generous donation to these Sisters will make a

huge impact on the lives of thousands of really needy people. For a more detailed overview of this community

please go to:

The Sisters’ website: chipolebenedictines.org

Mask Up, Hoosiers!

Indiana Gov. Eric Holcomb announced Indiana will begin mandating face coverings statewide starting Monday, July 27.

Holcomb pointed to several factors in making this determination, including an increase in the state’s COVID-19 positivity rate. He also noted some counties who previously had a very low amount of cases have seen increases.

The mandate will apply to anyone 8 years old or older in indoor public spaces, commercial entities, transportation services and outdoor areas where social distancing is not possible.

Mask use in schools will be required for students in 3rd grade and up. It will apply for faculty and staff, volunteers and anyone else in the schools.

Masks will also be required for co-curricular and extra-curricular activities, as well as on the school bus.

Exemptions will be made for the following:

• Medical purposes

• Strenuous physical activity

• Eating and drinking

Masks are strongly recommended, but not required, for children 2-7 years old.

There is no set expiration time for the mandate. Holcomb said it will continue as long as it’s needed.
