RELIGIOUS EDUCATION NEWS 2nd Year Students

First Holy Communion Mini-Retreats and Parent Meetings for all 2nd year students are this week. Each child and one parent are required to attend ONE of the sessions. Please call the Religious Education office if you have not signed up yet!

Egg Carton Collection Religious education students are asked to bring empty egg cartons for the 2018 – 2019 school year. This year the egg cartons will be given to the Trinity Food Pantry on North Bridge Street in Poughkeepsie and the nuns at the Abbey of Regina Laudis in Bethle-hem, CT. abbeyofreginalaudis.org. Paper cartons only, please, to the faith formation building. Thank you for your help!

Computers Needed Our Religious Education Program could use three computers, for the use in our classrooms, to help enrich the children ’s learning experience. ST. KATERI PARENT-CHILD CONNECTION This week we'll discuss Preschool readiness process. We meet in the Faith Formation Building every Monday at 10:30 am. Contact Megan Zupan at [email protected].

THE SILVER LININGS LEISURE CLUB ACTIVITIES There are lots of activities close to home over these winter months: On Monday, January 28th, we are singing at the Vassar-Warner Nursing Home in Poughkeepsie, 10:15-11:45am. No exper-

tise required, and song sheets will be provided! Afterwards we'll meet with the residents, so please bring a small snack to share. Anyone in need of a ride should call Mary in advance at 845-337-1366 and meet in the St. Kateri parking lot at 9:40am.

Our Senior Stretch Exercise Class meets every Wednesday, 9:45-10:30am in the Church Meeting Room. Dress comfortably and bring a friend!

Our Catholic Classics Book of the Month Club will meet on Thursday, January 31st, 10-11am in the St. Kateri Religious Educa-tion Building. We'll discuss the first three Chronicles of Narnia books: The Magician's Nephew, The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe and The Horse and His Boy. Refreshments too!

Our Movie Monday will take place on February 4th at 10am in the Church Meeting Room. We'll feature Queen of Katwe, the true story of a Ugandan girl who learns to excel at the game of chess! A feel-good celebration of the human spirit! 124 minutes. Refreshments will be available beginning at 9:30am.

On Tuesday, February 12th, a speaker from Hudson Valley Hospice will be available to explain the services provided by Hospice and answer some misconceptions. Bring your questions! Free, but please register in advance with Mary. The event will take place in the Church Meeting Room, 10-11:30am, and refreshments will be served.

On Tuesday, March 19th, an AARP Defensive Driving class will be held 9-4pm in the Church Meeting Room. Cost is $20 for AARP members and $25 for non-members. Seating is limited, so please register with Mary Biasotti in advance, 845-297-9310 or [email protected]

TLC + TEENS LOVING CHRIST + TLC The Tri-Parish Youth Group, meets after the 5:30 pm Mass at St. Kateri from 6:30 - 8 pm in the Church Meeting Room. OUR SANCTUARY LAMP The Sanctuary Lamp, which is next to our Tabernacle, is a sign of the Real Presence of Jesus, the Light of the World in our Parish Church. In accordance with tradition, this can-dle may be dedicated in honor or in memory of a particular person or persons, or for a special intention. The customary offering for this weekly dedication is $20. Anyone who wants to make arrangements for dedicating the Sanctuary Lamp should contact the Parish Office at 227-1710.

BREAD AND WINE Offerings are being accepted for the Bread and Wine for the week in memory of your loved ones. The customary offering fee is $20. Call the Parish Office.

FEBRUARY HEALING MASS A healing Mass, with a free flow of the Gifts of the Holy Spirit, will be held Tuesday, February 5th at St. Kateri. Guest Celebrant will be Fr. Pancrose Kalist, new Pastor of St. Kateri Parish and long-time supporter of the Renewal. Praise and worship begins at 7 pm; Mass at 7:30. Adoration and indi-vidual prayers for healing follows Mass. The event is spon-sored by Spirit Wind Prayer Group of St. Kateri. All are wel-come. Weather cancellations will be announced on WHUD 100.7 FM and follows the Arlington School after school di-rectives. HOLY LAND PILGRIMAGE Fr. Matthew MacDonald, Parochial Vicar of the Church of Saint Kateri Tekakwitha, Lagrangeville, NY will be leading a Pilgrimage to the Holy Land from Monday, October 28th - Thursday November 7th, 2019 (11 days) with the Our Lady, Queen of Peace Prayer Group from Long Island, NY and 206 Tours. This Pilgrimage is also open to the Parishioners of Saint Kateri Tekakwitha Church and people from our local area. Sites that will be seen is Caesarea Maritima, Stella Maris Carmelite Monastery on Mount Carmel (Haifa), Nazareth, Cana, The Sea of Galilee, the Jordan River, Mount Tabor (site of the Transfiguration), Jericho, Bethany, the Dead Sea, Sin Karem (site of the Visitation), Jerusalem (with sites related to the Passion, Death, and Ascension of Our Lord and The Assumption of Our Lady), Bethle-hem (with sites related to the Birth of Our Lord), Mount Zion (upper room) and more. Total cost for the Pilgrimage is $3,999 from New York JFK Airport - includes round trip ticket, hotel accommodations at Tiberias on the Sea of Galilee (3 nights) and in Jerusalem (4 nights), 3 meals a day, transportation and more.
