FAITH FORMATION NEWS 9th Grade Confirmation Students

Confirmation Prep classes continue this week. The Tues-day class is on September 29th, 6:30–8 pm, beginning in the church and ending in the Faith Formation building.

Thank you! Deacon McCormack and I thank the volunteers that helped to make our Confirmation Retreats an amazing expe-rience for our Confirmation Candidates! Thank you to Car-olyn Montenegro, Jody Lydic, Barbara Kierstead, John Reale, Deacon Horton, Judy Horton, Dusty Maiolo, Vinny Canniz-zaro, Diane McCoach, Gabe Duden, and Sabrina Fleming.

PANCAKE BREAKFAST The +TLC+ is hosting a pancake breakfast October 4th, after the 9 & 10:30 am Masses. All teens are invited to help.

RCIA (RITE OF CHRISTIAN INITIATION OF ADULTS) Non-Catholic adults in learning about our Cath-olic faith and Catholic adults who need the sacraments of Initiation (baptism, confirmation or Eucharist) are welcome to attend our free sessions. They take place on Thursday eve-nings, 7-9 pm, beginning immediately prior to Labor Day and culminating at the Easter Vigil, March 26th, 2016. Because this coming Easter is early, please sign up before classes begin. People have been signing up after classes have started. Call the Parish Office for information and to register.

RCIT (RITE OF CHRISTIAN INITIATION OF TEENS) We have had an increasing number of high school stu-dents coming to us to learn about our faith who have no, or limited, prior religious education. We will be conducting a two year program to give ninth, tenth or eleventh graders a background in the faith and the opportunity to receive sacra-ments they may have missed. We already have several signed up for next year. If you are, or know of such a student, con-tact Heidi Reale or Msgr. Desmond at 227-1710.

INTERNATIONAL DINNERS As the summer ends we are looking for those interested in “hosting” and running an international dinner with a theme, such as entertainment. ST. VINCENT DE PAUL FOOD PANTRY NEWS This week, the SVDP's Food Pantry is in need of: mustard, pasta/rice sides, canned potatoes, and jello/pudding. For as-sistance, to volunteer or to be a member, call 227-7863. Next meeting is October 14th at 7 pm in the Convent Meeting Room at St. Columba.

ALTAR ROSARY SOCIETY Our 42nd annual Holiday Craft Fair will be held on Saturday, November 7th at St. Columba School from 9 am - 3 pm. Again, we will feature a Treasure Chest table. If you have a NEW or unused gift or handcrafted item, please donate it to the Treasure Christ. Mark it "Treasure Chest” and bring it to St. Columba and leave it in in the room on the left as you enter the Church. Please call Betty Perrino at 454-1840 for more information. A vendor who wishes to set up a table for the Craft Fair, please let me know in advance. Also, at all the masses the weekend of 9/26-29, the ARS will be selling Raffle tickets for our Craft Fair. Stop and buy a raffle for cash prizes.

The Tri-Parish Respect Life Committee of St.Kateri, St. Denis & St. Columba needs prayer volunteers for only 1 hour from 7 am -7 pm on one of these dates: September 28th, October 2nd and October 15th. We will welcome comments from those fortunate to have attended the Papal Mass at Madison Square Garden or to have seen the Pope during his motorcade through Central Park. Thursday, October 1st: Catholic Classics Book of the Month Club, Laudato Si, On Care for Our Common Home, Pope Fran-cis's encyclical on our responsibility to the environment. Monday, October 19th: Movie Monday, Babette's Feast (one of the Pope's favorites!). Thursday, October 29th: Catholic Classics Book of the Month Club, St. Francis of Assisi, by G. K. Chesterton. St. Kateri Music Ministry LOVE TO SING? JOIN THE CHOIR! Choir rehearsals for our new season will begin Wednesday September 30th in the church. Combining excellent musical and liturgical training with an opportunity to serve the church, the Saint Kateri Youth Choir provides an opportunity for girls and boys in grades 2nd through High School. Directed by Mrs. Nina Ricci and accompanied by Mr. Peter Krauss, rehearsals are held on Wednesdays at 6 - 7pm in the church beginning Wednesday September 30th. The Youth Choir sings at the 9 am Sunday Mass twice a month and special holidays or events, such as Christmas Eve, Interfaith concert and for diocesan choral festivals. Adult Choir rehearsals follow at 7:15 - 8:30 pm in the church on Wednesday, September 30th. Directed by Mrs. Nina Ricci and accompanied by Mr. Peter Krauss. The Adult Choir provides an opportunity for adults of any age. This is not an auditioned choir and membership is open to all high school graduates, college students, and adults of all ages. Parents and singers are welcome to visit the choir before deciding to commit to membership. The TEEN Mass is always in need of musical talent. OCTOBER HEALING MASS A healing Mass, with a free flow of the gifts of the Holy Spirit, will be held on Tuesday, October 6th at St. Kateri Tekawitha Church. Our guest celebrant is Fr. Bill Cosgrove, formerly of St. Denis Parish, currently of St. Augustine Parish in New City. Fr. Bill is also Pastoral Liaison to the Archdiocese Charismatic Renewal and a speaker at the October 24th con-ference in NYC. Praise and worship begins at 7 pm, Mass at 7:30. BOYS’ DAY-BY-DAY-AGAPE (DDA) RETREAT Friday, October 9th - Monday, October 12th is a DDA Re-treat for boys (15 & older). DDA’s 40 year history and the thousands of teen participants speak to the popularity and success of this program. It’s a fantastic opportunity to find out more about yourself and your connection to something greater, deepen your relationship with God and develop a better understanding of our faith all while having a whole lot of fun with peers from NY, NJ, CT, PA & MA. This retreat is led BY teens FOR teens with presentations, discussions, music, drama, and prayer; Adult Team, Spiritual Directors and CYFM Community help facilitate and support. $140 include materi-als, meals & lodging. KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS GOLF OUTING LaGrange Knights of Columbus Council 13378 invites you to Beekman Country Club for a fun day of golf and camarade-rie to raise money for a worthy cause. This year’s recipient, is six year old Thaddeus Harklerode, whose father is a NYS Trooper. He has a rare neurological disorder known as Ohta-hara syndrome. He requires round the clock care.
