need every day. Help us to always trust in you. Come,

Lord Jesus, lead all people closer to you. Come and

dispel the darkness of our world with the light of your

love. Amen.

CAVALIER ROOFING

Proud to Support Sacred Heart Church

Only by living as true Christians can we make

the impact in this world that we all yearn to make. We

all want to leave this world a better place, to

achieve something lasting in life. This desire

is natural, because God built it into our hearts.

That's why the description of a renewed and

redeemed world that we heard in the First Reading

resonates so much - lions eating hay, wolves playing

with lambs, the downtrodden being raised up, the

wicked being judged... We want that; we want to make

a better world - that's our God-given mission!

A young man recently entered a religious order

in Connecticut, starting out on the long and difficult

road to the priesthood. Before entering the seminary,

he composed a short essay about the factors

that influenced his decision. He wrote:

...There was something very, very deep

down whispering very, very quietly that I might

just have a vocation.

My initial response was a pronounced and

decided ‘Naaah.'

But as time went on, especially once the war

on terror got underway, I started thinking a lot

more about what life was really about, what it

was really worth...

That period was God's painful but effective way

of pointing me to a path that would really fill

the emptiness I felt.

This young man saw the problems of the

world, and felt a desire to do something about them.

And the grace of God showed him what it

is showing us today: to make the world a better place,

in a lasting way, means helping it fulfill the plan God

has for it, and that means bringing others closer

to Christ, the only one who can make the lion lie down

with the lamb.

And only true Christians - not superficial,

Pharisaic Christians - can bring others closer to Christ.

Child Protection and Creating Safe Environments- Keeping

God’s Children Protected and Safe: To know that we are

children of God is to live in complete love, with deep abiding se-

curity and the ability to dream, to sing, to create, to laugh, and to

play without worry. As we grow older, we face a new

reality – we cannot approach all God’s creation with the same

trust and confidence. We learn, through sometimes hurtful and

damaging experiences, that some people reject the ability that

God gave them to love and respect others – they ignore God’s

call. The diocesan program to safeguard children helps remind

us of these very facts. With the help of this program, the faithful

are guided and educated about the responsibility of how to keep

God’s children protected and safe. To see what the Diocese of

Erie is doing to help maintain safe environments, visit https://

SUPPORT AGING RELIGIOUS~ Today special

collection is for the Retirement Fund for Religious. Many

senior Catholic sisters, brothers, and religious order

priests served for little or no pay. Today, religious

communities often do not have enough savings to meet

retirement needs. Your gift helps provide

medications, nursing care, and more for tens of

thousands of elderly religious. It also helps

ensure younger members can continue the good

works of their elders. Please be generous.

SECOND SUNDAY OF ADVENT

"God does not love us because there is some reason that causes love. God loves us because He Himself is love, and

love tends to spread and give by its nature. God does not even tie his benevolence to our conversion: if anything this

is a consequence of God's love."

Love is the spiritual fulfilment! Love is the light of the Kingdom! Love is the breath of the Holy Spirit inspired into the

human spirit! Love is the cause of the manifestation of the Truth (God) in the phenomenal world!. Love is the

necessary tie proceeding from the realities of things through divine creation!"

"Know therefore that the LORD your God is God; He is the faithful God, keeping his covenant of love to a thousand

generations of those who love Him and keep His commands."

Most know firsthand that love between a man and woman is not always a faithful one.

The pain that follows unfaithfulness can be crippling, but God will never be unfaithful. God will always be and will

always love you. Never forget His love is unchanging.
